I changed my Stihl petrol saw to a battery Stihl 220c , the battery saw is scary as it doesn't really give you an indication of what power it has , takes a bit of getting used to. Absolutely love it for convenience and we're now going to be getting Stihl battery tools for my work too.
That's amazing what those engineers did building those valve units, it is just as amazing to see Christian Service the unit with all those O-rings and stuff, Vera and I are in suspense watching!
we left a bolt out on my coolant pump on my freelander and was wondering why it was leaking but no now LOL and chain saws are handy if you live in a very wooded area when a tree falls onto the road ,and your jack sounds like my jack creaking thank you for the video.
18:30 - Good bullbars don't need to 🙃 My ECB bar has the hole just big enough to trap your fingers while holding the light, and extract it, with some skin. SO awesome
Hello Christian and Vera, the noise the valve makes, is because de EAS Computer, instead of sending a continuous 12 V signal, it sends a PWM signal in order to actuate the valve. This PWM signal lowers the amperage needed to actuate the valve spool. Its a common practice in order to reduce the load on the electrical system.
Germans eating sausages for supper!! What ever next! Where were the vegetables? I really hate it when something gets fixed without really changing any parts. I bet Christian found that frustrating! Still with valves and contamination its possible as long as the seal is undamaged. Anyway the nice thing about a Land Rover is there are always things to fix, and even if there aren't any, there soon will be. Try to get a PCM-Engine Diesel 3.0L, P1247-00 (AF), Turbocharger boost pressure low ( on 19-07-2022 12:22:03 at 123342 mi ) fault code for next time then we can see how the professionals do it! Loved the video, I might ditch my Netflix account as you guys are far more entertaining! Great job.😃
@@Vera_and_Christian What manual do you recommend, I have the workshop manual pdf version from Ebay but its huge (7423 pages of LR Time), searching for P1247 gives no hits, but Turbo gets you into the right ball park. Can you show us what you use (and study) in another episode?
A word of advice when you replace the Air Strut , torque the bottom shock bolt from your pit after fitting the new strut/shock with the car in normal ride height and all 4 wheels on the ground . Oxyman in the US does a good RUclips video on quickly replacing LR3 Airshocks I think the Mr Bodsey video on servicing the valve block is The Brake bible guy, Ian Bodsworth. Nice to see the "Voyager 1" Tent heater getting used again . Vera stressing about the car evertime it's on axle stands is priceless!!!
I've had air suspension on my Teslas but no problems in over 100,000 miles. Nice smooth ride and I do like the ability to raise the suspension for "off road" use (not that I do much off road in the Teslas... that's what the LR is for).
Thanks for showing us how easy it is to service the suspension valve block. Mine was replaced 3 years ago with an OEM unit by the dealer I bought the LR3 from. It cost me nothing, they paid for it in the name of customer service which was nice. PS, I don't know if there is a non-genuine unit. Vera, you don't have to take the ARB Deluxe bull bar off to unscrew the wheel arch screw. There is enough room to push the lights out a little bit to access the screw. It is a tight fit, but can be done easily.
Thank you for another insight into the LR3. I will have to do or let the garage do a lot on the suspension this year (now 275 tkm and 14 years). I still try to figure out how to split tasks between me (cheaper ;-) ) and the garage. Most likely I will do the air suspension parts that can be done without disassembling the wishbones etc. and let all the parts that require re-aligning and measuring to the professionals.
I rebuilt the front valve block on ours which in 2 years of ownership is the only single issue we had with the air suspension and caused a slow leak, which didn't affect the driving but would occasionally throw an error. One tip is I bought 100% silicone lubricant and made sure all o rings had a coating of this before reassembly. Not a single leak since :)
i just started watching your videos; I find your videos quite instructional, detailed and precise in many ways... there is easiness within the complexity of the projects from the point oof view of anything can be done if you are up to it, thank you and please continue with your weekly projects.. for your next project perhaps you can work on explaining how all the exterior lights work, specially how to turn on the city light which in some countries is disable like USA, perhaps it requires a hook up or programming...etc once gain thank you
Hi Great job but I found Waffle square guy who fix the walves and it might be useful for next time . I enjoy your work very much keep up as I am in process of finding the right disco 3 so your work and advice is precious.
Have done this - valve service and airbag replacement on a Range Rover L322 - most difficult part was freeing a seized/rusted pinch bolt on a front shock absorber. There are several suppliers of these service kits - some are better than others - I remember I bought kits from different suppliers in order to track down the best kit - the o-rings are not expensive.
Guys, the valve block affects the compressor when one of air spring valves (or both of them) are leaking. Center valve does not affect neither height nor compressor time. The spring valve leak when the rubber bump in the center of stock is worn. Use sharp tool to pull rubber bumps off of stock, then use metal or plastic spacer to displace bump out of stocks and then use sand paper to remove worn part of rubber. It will have immediate results, but after 5-10 months you will see leaking is back, so yeah new valve block.
Great works you guys….Tried to do this myself last year & I got the rings all mixed up….long story short it didn’t go very well for me, ended up just getting a brand new front valve block
At least you only got 1. Ordered a cheap non land rover one from eBay only to find the electrical socket was leaking air after fitting 🤔 so then had to buy another proper new one from LR - still wasn't fixed so then new compressor... and now we have suspension again 🤗
Another great video..I am also looking for a leak but in the rear..Vera have you ever thought about the patches on a baseball cap? I think the badge would look great 👍

@@WhosPhotoTube Of course, it would have to be measured, but my guess is that it is enough air in the bellows to give a 1,5cm drop with a 10-15°C temperature differential. If the car rises again towards the afternoon, we have our answer.
The air spring system in my E39 Tourings is unaffected by the outside barometric pressure. There are two steel air reservoirs, one per side, which equalise the pressure. I suspect that the Land-Rovers have a similar system given their BMW heritage.
When you consider that air suspension has been pretty standard on commercial vehicles running at 44 tonnes plus for over fifty years, it's obvious that the system works. I know the ride in my Disco 3 is very comfortable and I have an after market suspension control which allows me to level the vehicle side to side as well as front to rear and has a 'trailer hitch up' setting as well. Yes, it can be problematical but then so is most everything if you don't look after it. I certainly wouldn't change it for a mechanical system.
Oh don't get us wrong, we praise the air suspension. It's the best thing going for the Discovery, we would not want to change it, and have stated so in many, many videos. Great job, but I have a leak on my driver's side. Will track the leak and hopefully get it back to normal. One question though, could you show how you plugged the oil pressure gauge? Thanks Christian. Vera's comments are so funny :)
Ah yes, the old hidden screw in the wheel arch trick. I didn't need to take my bullbar off to get it out as I forgot it completely and ripped it out. Vera I still think the cracks in the strut are just baked on dirt. Are you going to replace the complete strut or just the shock absorber? I went Koni FSD for my shocks, and had to order them from GB as not available in Oz. Good work with the valves, I really should do mine!
Hallo Christian.
The big issue with the old Classic and P38 was that everytime the system detected a fault it would put the vehicle down to the bumpstops. The "cure" was worse than the fault. I think that soured a lot of people on it. The air suspension on my L322 has been flawless. You need to buy a 2006-2011 L322 so I can learn more about my truck. Please.......
ooo , You see , as I type to You via email with the same issue in my Disco4. Im during changing front and rear air valve. in my case every morning only front was 2.5cm down and was pumped to normal high. We will see if after changing air valve will be OK :) Regards
Hello! Trying to solve a EAS relay puzzle. Thought I'd ask you guys. Relays for AMK compressors are 80 amp and Hitachi are 70 amp, yes? I have a 3rd type among my spares which is stamped "70A Cont - 140A Peak." I'm assuming that this 3rd style is simply a 70 amp relay with more words on the case. Any opinion about this question and compressor relay amperage? Thanks!
i have a 2011 mall crawler and sometimes it only starts when i push the break down extremely hard (the break pedal gets very hard sometimes). it rides fine and no lights flashing. any thoughts or ideas? PS - you guys are great!
I have had a timing belt go prematurely (aftermarket) while cruising on the highway. Ive bent a valve and broken the oil pump so the Cylinder heads have had to come off to ensure no further valves are bent. At 330k the bottom end of the engine still looks great with no ridge on the cylinders. Moral of the story. Rather replace with OEM components on critical areas.
You probably still had the old oilpump we always warn about. We cannot mention enought that everyone with a Disco from 2005 till 2009 should have checked what oilpump they have installed. 👍🙋♀Vera
What model electric chainsaw? Been looking at these for a while. Means we don't have to carry smelly fuel in the car when we go away. Also reduces the noise pollution 😊
I got the Stihl because it is available here in Germany. Don’t buy cheap as you need the battery to last and basically bigger (capacity) is better. Christian
Are you considering that the air in the struts cools down overnight, thus reducing the pressure by a few hPa ?? And have you connected that DAB+ aerial to the Pure Highway ? If yes, how did you connect that ?
Hey guys. Great video. I had the same problem. I ended up buying a D4 used valve block front. Sorted. Also what gap tool do you use?? Great video as always.
Am so glad I stumbled across this! What a brilliant take on Land Rover ownership - really engaging and very funny in parts, thoroughly enjoyed this video. I have had 3 RR classics, a P38 and D3 and currently D4. One of my classics and my P38 both reached 300,000 miles with no major failures, just very regular high quality servicing by someone who knows what they are doing. Maintenance is not cheap but if you keep on top of it these are very reliable cars. PS - if you want decent drinkable coffee watch a jeep channel, the toyota ones make awful stuff!!
What is your preferred tool/method for removing the plastic rivet/clips which hold on the wheel arch (and other things)? I always seem to make this take forever and also damage the clips!
I have a very odd question I have been chasing a fault on my discovery 3 and found that when testing the power and ground on my center valve block solenoid I have 12v live on both wires. I unplug power to the suspension module and retest the solenoid there's nothing and when I plug the module back in I have a negative reading on both wires from my power probe but no continuity to ground it's blown my mind I'm not sure what to do next to be honest
You can find the wiring diagram in the www. The solenoids are PWM controlled. It’s not simple 12v Stuff. Not sure about the ground so. Check the wiring diagram.
Sehr schönes How To Video. :) ich denke mal ne Werkstatt hätte die ganze Moduleinheit für die Luftfederung getauscht. ;) Wartet ihr auch gelegentlich eure Winde? Here in the UK we used to collect hospital statistics on the causes of injuries, which were published. Last time they were published, more people had been seriously injured in accidents involving trousers than those involving chainsaws. Ok, so more people wear trousers than use chainsaws, but I'm still somewhat puzzled as to how an accident with trousers is possible...
I belong to those peole getting hurt while putting on pants in a rush, loosing balance and falling down the stairs. I really don't think that I would kill myself with a chainsaw and protective wear. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Timely for me, thank you! Was the GAP tool picking up an error, or the car for that matter? BTW - Martin Luther posted the 95 theses to the church door in Wittenberg. He was summoned to the Diet of Worms where he was excommunicated.
Using rocks to level the vehicle for camping?!?! I thought this was NOT a Toyotal channel... 😂 I have two 'Lev-o-gauge' inside the D3 and use service/test valves in IID to get the vehicle just how I like it.

The leak is coming from your sunroof most likely. Have you seen this video yet? ruclips.net/video/604513GUKws/видео.html🙋♀️ Vera
Just wonder about those wheel spacers? Do they increase the stress on the wheel bearings?
Amazing video.
I do love Vera's oh my god 👍👍🤗🤗🤗🤣🤣
😅🙏👍🙋♀️Vera
OOOh. Nice set of Micrometers.
At 8:04 what was plugged into the OBD II Port before he plugged in the Gap Tool?
That ist the hardware of the Gap tool. Costs 600€🙋♀️
@@Vera_and_Christian Thank you, my Gap tool came in today I'm no longer a sinner. :-)
Thank you.
ooo , You see , as I type to You via email with the same issue in my Disco4.
Thanks!
27:02. 😂😂😂😂
(Coffee)
Yes I drink coffee. But we have enough funny content to not fill out precious time with coffee making. 😅👍🙋♀️Vera
Thanks man really appreciate it. Such a cool wife too! cheers
😊🙏🙋♀️Vera
Bull bar or Nudge Bar ...that is the question Vera? Which looks better?
i have a 2011 mall crawler and sometimes it only starts when i push the break down extremely hard (the break pedal gets very hard sometimes). it rides fine and no lights flashing. any thoughts or ideas?
PS - you guys are great!
Check out the Koni Heavy Track suspension for the Discovery 3. It’s semi active and May be a worthy update.
When we finally do change the shocks, I will definitly consider the Koni ones. They are about the same price as OEM ones here in Germany. 🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Good stuff! Love the content, thank you for everything!
👍🙋♀Vera
Hello, what scanner do you use to identify the errors and adjust the suspension? i need one
GAP IID
Noticed on my D4 there is no need to take the light out anymore, the bolt is now on the inside of the fender :)
No, definitely not. The system is under pressure. So there was a leak somewhere. 🙋♀️Vera
Hey guys. Great video. I had the same problem. I ended up buying a D4 used valve block front. Sorted. Also what gap tool do you use?? Great video as always.
We have the GAP tool for Land Rover vehicles. There are no other versions for the same vehicle brand, like with the icarsoft tool. 🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian thanks Vera. Appreciate your reply. 👍🏻👍🏻
😅👍I know how to make good coffee. 🙋♀️Vera
Had some trouble with mine, two new front valves and a new Hitachi compressor later - it works muahahahaha
What is your preferred tool/method for removing the plastic rivet/clips which hold on the wheel arch (and other things)? I always seem to make this take forever and also damage the clips!
I build a special plier and showed it in many videos before but not in this one. I don’t know if a good commercial tool. Christian
HaHa! Awesome video, great info, and entertaining.
Hi Christian and Vera, the snorkel is noisy... Could foam inside reduce the noise? Thanks, take care 👏
😅👍We love the sound of the snorkel and would never do anything about it. 🙋♀Vera
May I know what OBD scanner that you were using on your phone?
We use the Gap iid tool. 🙋♀️Vera
If land rover will build this type again they should consider all the good things that you have done. It would last forever
I stopped a leaking air bag with a tire puncture repair aerosol can - was still going strong when I sold the car 3 years later
I've done my work for the day. I can put my feet up now.
Ze Bosch wiper blades for ze win 🤜
I am not appreciating being mocked about my pronounciation. I'll bet you speak your second language not perfect either.😅👍🙋♀Vera
Hi. Which OBD 2 you are using? Thanks
Gap tool, but we also have an icarsoft🙋♀️
What's that awesome app and OBD adapter?
Gap diagnostic tool 🙋♀️
Sehr schönes How To Video. ;)
Ja das wissen wir natürlich. Dafür hat dieses mal die Anhängerkupplung hergehalten. 👍💪🙋♀️Vera
Hi
Took delivery of my 2016 discovery 4 last Thursday todat the ECO light came on when I press the eco button it says Start stop not available
Advice please 🙏
You need to watch this video ruclips.net/video/fy_0ym793-8/видео.html and definitely this one ruclips.net/video/chsGDZ3pZUY/видео.html And then you go from there. 🙋♀️Vera
I think the chain needs a sharpening 👍👍👍🤗🤗🤗🇮🇪🇮🇪
We used to laugh about Martin Luther and his diet of worms. Tasty!
That chainsaw is a bit like Triggers broom ain’t it!!
Using rocks to level the vehicle for camping?!?! I thought this was NOT a Toyotal channel... 😂
I have two 'Lev-o-gauge' inside the D3 and use service/test valves in IID to get the vehicle just how I like it.
Vera what do I do to get one of your patches ?? !:)
You need to send me email. Then I can send you my paypal adress and you can send me your adress. That cannot be done here in the comment section. And unfortunately, I can't write my email here, and you neither, you will be spamed by bots. 🙋♀️Vera
