Fun Fact : The King Jayavarman II who built The Ankor Wat is from The Sailendra Dinasty ( JAVA )
You mentioned about Mayans or Aztec Pyramids, you should check The Candi Sukuh ( Sukuh Temple ) in Central Java. The similarities is almost 70% or maybe you should go to the 25 K years old Gunung Padang Pyramid in West Java, the oldest man made structure in the world.
Java is a mysterious land sir, and Maybe Java is the lost Lemurian civilization, lot of secrets buried under the ground and inside the sea waiting to be found.
    Greetings from Indonesia.

Tbh, as an Indonesian i really want to see this temple in its full glory. Right now from 240 temple, only 18 left (8 main temple, 8 small temple, and 2 Perwara Temple). But, it would cost so muuch money. One of expert in Indonesia said that each restoration could cost them around $ 100.000 and take around 1 year to be completed. The other problem to make it worse, anthropologists that expert at this getting rarer because the this subject is not that popular in Indonesia compared to IT, Business Management etc. I only hope i have enough time to watch it in its former glory somehow..😅

Hello Garry thanks for voicing your opinion. This seems to be a common challenge in most countries at the moment. It is getting very expensive to maintain these historical structures. Europe also has the same challenge. Not enough people in the trade to maintain the structures. Hopefully we can find a solution to this soon 🙏🏽

The temple itself took around 8 decades to be completed. It was mentioned on the Siwaghra Inscription dated from 9th century. If you come to the temple you will see how clever they were when they matched every single stone to another stone. So they planned it very carefully about how big each stone would be cut and then paired with another stone. But what also awesome is the symmetry on all of the temples.

Here's an idea for a challenges. You can visit smaller temples, like candi ijo, plaosan, kalasan, ratu boko, etc etc. Each of them has different uniqueness, usually the view. They are much cheaper, and some of them even free to visit. In a good day you can visit 3-4 location as some of them located nearly. And there you can compare your impression, experience, an stuff. Call it Yogya Temple Amazing Race, in one day
