As a broke Lazy Retro Boy, I just wanted to say that my Royal Enfield runs great and my beard and my flannel keep me toasty on those early season Midwest rides. Also I wish I could afford a Triumph but I’ll settle for putting miles on my interceptor.
I don’t understand the hate for them. I have a continental gt. It was cheap, it’s quick as long as you understand that it isn’t a sport bike. I still get excited every time I see it. Good bike.
I find my 650 perfectly adequate. My 500 is more fun. And guess what... I've ordered a Janus. Yammie Noob somehow manages to be shrill and boring at the same time.
Most "retro motorcycle riders" have done the sport bike thing, sometimes for decades, and learned a little secret that you too will arrive at some day Yam. It's 99% as fun to ride a slow bike fast (or even slow) as it is to rip around on a liter bike at 10/10. So sooner or later you too will slow down, buy a mellow standard, and enjoy the ride 🙂
My dad is a panigale guy and complains about being able to go 200 mph. Also his hip. Also how hot the thing runs even at 60mph it's trying to fry you. I listened and bought an older bike with 60hp and an upright seating position. ( 92 yamaha xj600s) He didn't and bought a v4s after owning every panigale missile possible. 1099 1199 1299. He doesn't learn but that's what I'm for to learn from his mistakes. I enjoy my ride. He enjoys running from the cops maybe sorta he toatally doesn't run... He fucking flys away. I'm 28 and he's 52 as a fyi.
As someone who is brand new to riding and is looking at the RE INT650 as my first bike, complete with a retro helmet as I listen to some classic UK punk rock. I appreciated this video very much. I will make sure to watch this again as I sit outside on a patio drinking my $9 black coffee so I can admire my bike as I watch.
I remember seeing a Triumph Scrambler 900 like 12 years ago, instantly drawn to Triumph, and thinking "when I can afford one, I'm getting one!" Long Game Lazy Rider I am, on my 2019 Street Scrambler, racking the miles with smiles and not worried bout what others think 🤙
I think an old UJM bike is the way to go for starting out. Teaches you to work on engines which saves you money down the road, and the old tech keeps you from pushing yourself before you are ready. My first experience riding a motorcycle, it had no front brakes and only a rear drum, and the engine only ran on 1 cylinder below 2500 rpm.
I once had to essentially redo all my wiring in a gas station parking lot in the middle of a hood at 3:00 in the morning, using only a razor blade and some electrical tape. Because it was a 77 gs750 and i had rewired it from scratch, I was able to accomplish that. I realize that new bikes don't have many issues, but when they do, its way more involved. I could carry a 10mm wrench, a screwdriver, and a couple Allen keys and fix my bike 90% of the time it broke down (which was a dozen times over 2 years, mostly due to upgrading/replacing parts, and making little errors when installing them).
Lazy Retro Boy here with a completely stock 2020 Sportster 48. I wanted something that felt like a mix of my Ninja 400 and my Shadow 750. Nailed it. My favorite bike I've ever ridden, though definitely not the best on a technical level.
I'm a UJM beginner :) Started on a Yamaha SR400 an I turned it into some sort of street tracker. Such a great ride, but learning how to ride on a Kickstart bike was indeed Dark Souls level pain.
I started as lazy retro rider. But soon got a broken down 78 suzuki gs750. Was forced to learn to clean and tune the carbs (I removed the carbs over 50 times to get them perfect). Got it running perfectly at oem idle and rebuilt the wiring harnes to oem spec. I then cafed it soon after this. Removed the electric start because I am now a retro purist. The work pays off in the end, I now have a bike that turns heads, sounds great, and I did it with my own enginuity and hard work
My first bike was a $700 1987 Yamaha radian that was abused so bad that it was better suited as a mad max display than a real motorcycle. I wanted to cafe it, but the effort and work would've been worth a brand-new motorcycle. Currently modding a continental GT650 as my third bike and it's been a hoot.
@@deathtomorons9388 Yeah the parts it's equipped with are on the cheaper side but if you actually spend time wrenching and upgrading it then it turns into an actual ride. Not that you would know from the sound of it. You probably take your bikes to the dealer everytime you need an oil change done.
Yup... yammie has been making these videos for years and he finally caught me. I am the lazy retro rider. I've had a Bonneville Bobber and an r ninet, daily commute in a big city on a motorcycle, and usually wear pretty expensive gear.
Oh hey! I'm a beginner UJM! Got into it because, well, the option came up. I did it because I want to learn mechanical stuff on a simpler bike, I love the look, I love the sound, and I love the cruiser feel with mid controls. When things got out of hand with the carburetors I took it to a mechanic. Mechanic suggested a newer bike. I looked, but none of the new bikes I've seen have all 3 1. the seating position 2. the sound 3. great touring capability. Number 3 is actually a huge part, because old Honda CBs had the option to basically turn it into a full dress tourer.
I can’t believe how well the accurate cafe racer builder was I’ve owned my 1978 Yamaha XS-750 for about two years now and have probably only ridden it 7 times. Build is still ongoing and I’m becoming able to ride it more frequently now. But I do in fact have a two stroke motorized bicycle which I ride to school every day lol.
I'm a sportster rider and I started to laugh. Some people make fun of it but I'm just like hey it's a motorcycle and I'm out enjoying life on two wheels. I got a 1979 iron head and a 2019 48. Love the videos and keep the videos coming.
I was the 16yr old who's Dad and friends had Bandits Hornets and Fazers but I was too young to ride anything bigger than my 50cc scooter! 18yrs later I got round to passing my test and buying my 20yr old gen1 Bandit 1200 as a first big bike. Always dreamt of one. Some of us have our own stories to tell and will never fall into these youtube clickbait stereotype lists. A few bikes on and I would have done nothing any differently. i started off as a lazy retro boy. i bought a chrome 2012 royal enfield bullet deluxe - currently its going thru a scrambler build. and yes... my jeans are skinny but they are the havoc by speed and strength

I definitely fell into the trap of buying a clapped out CB750 that was in pieces for my first bike. And then I became a sportster boy.......papa yam dunked me twice.
I love this list. I learned on a cb 750 and its all I rode for a decade. Got married had kids and sold my bikes. Then slmost 2 decades pass. I decided to buy a new bike. A 2022 Street Glide. Imagine my surprise going from 70's and 80's tech to a spaceship. That Harley was the easiest thing I've ever rode. I didn't know how good technology could be.
8:13 this is a KMZ dnepr, and i’m having a full restoration on one like this. Restoring it down to the frame, sandblasting it and assembling it again. This will be my first bike as a 16 y/o
I fall into the Lazy Retro Rider camp. Im 55 years old, have a 2018 Kawasaki Z900RS (retro sport) and a new 2022 Ducati Scrambler Desert Sled. I love the looks and charm of bikes from the 70s and 80s with modern technology. Both of my bikes do everything and much more for my casual riding style...still, I wouldn't mind having a new Katana in the stable!
As somebody who started on the kzp1000 police cruiser, I can say I almost fell down this rabbit hole and I'm glad I didn't. I did end up putting Daytona bars on it though.
You missed the "Retro Futuristic Rider". The one that shows up at Cafe Racer nights with a Cb650R, a Husky Pilen 401, or heck, even a SV650X (yes, the X version, cause it comes with the "retro style" stitching on the seat). This rider will spend hundreds on the latest "retro inspired" CE AAA approved leathers, gloves and jeans, only to pair em up with a cheap Hjc helmet with a drop-down visor. They will not mod their bikes in any shape or form to avoid losing their factory warranty and will start telling you how their TC and ABS are what's jacking up the price of their rebodied Duke 390, or how much of their modern 650's plastic design is inspired by classic UJMs. You'll find them buying generic bolt on headlight grills and amazon bar end mirrors, but they'll keep the original parts in the garage for when their finance scheme runs over and they need to return the bike to buy the newest model. (I'm soon to be one of them, lol)
I am a Lazy Retro Rider. I love the classic looks, but hate the classic power, handling, and breakdowns....so I ride a Triumph T120, and I love that damn bike. I love looking at it, washing it, talking about it, and most of all, riding it.

Beginner UJM here. Spent more time fixing than riding my ‘81 kz440. Eventually got it running decently as my daily rider. But would buy from this century if I could do it again.
I'm a beginner UJM too. Absolutely love my 82 kz550. I was lucky enough to find one in really great condition, and it rarely gives me any problems, as long as I keep up with the basic maintenance
So close, we need hybrid catagories… old and lazy would be me…love my new gen T120 and have zero need or desire to spend weekends wrenching when I can be riding albeit slowly and preferably NOT in the rain! 😎
I ride a 2019 kawasaki 943cc cafe bike .you missed me on your list I bought all the look and all the luxury. After owning a ducati scrambler cafe 800cc for my beginner bike. I represent to 80s kid now 40 who wants to go fast but look respectable. I love these videos.
I didn't even realize all this when buying my 17' Harley 48. I just kinda walked in, saw it and bought it. I barely even knew what a Harley was lol. It was more or less the bike was calling my name xD
I thought the video was over... I thought wrong. I turned around to go to the bathroom and then "Keep watching Yammie Noob" blared from my dark and empty room. I screamed... I no longer needed to go to the bathroom Everywhere is a bathroom
I'm sorta a UJM beginner mixed with a lazy retro rider. I started with a modern naked 300NK and quickly traded it in for a marked down 2022 Kawi W800 that I got for a steal. In 3 days, I've already put over 200 miles on it, and that's in the WI winter. I'm looking forward to this spring/summer to ride even more.
Ha ha I fit into the 2nd category. Love my Thruxton 900. I take it out if it’s a dry Sunny Day. Don’t mind the cold. Done my time in the cold and wet to work and back 25 miles each way.
I had both a couple of cb350s (good platform to build off of) and a cb754. I liked the kickstarter on the 350s and the jewel shaped idiot lights. I like to get another 350 for nostalgic value.
Fun as always. This coming from a 69-year-old rider with a V-rod and a 65-pan head bobber on a ridged frame. That I'm in the process of installing a Duce frontend on so I can stop. I'm tired of little old ladies trying to kill me. The rear disk was not enough. And yes, I ride with my head lite on.
Again, my first bike was a 79' KZ1000 ST I paid $400 for and put another $400 into it to get a sticker. Had a cheap paintjob, learned on it, rode it like I stole it after I got comfortable. Liked it so much, bought another one w/19k original mi on it in South Hero, VT, drove there from SE NH to pick it up. So I have 2 technically. The 2nd one w/an original backrest/luggage rack. Still don't seem to fit your stereotypes really, as I dragged pegs on both, and I have 2 different style bikes as well. Checked out a Ducati Monster once, got off it as I realized it was 1/2 the weight of the KZ w/more HP. Not scared, more like "Oh hell yeah, I'll be dead or arrested on this." 😆
I love retro bikes and classics, I’ve owned my share over the years, and I have to say this is spot on. Now to go find the vid with Yammie in flannel and a fake hipster beard.
Haha~ Im a total noob and i got a cb750c for its scrap value~ i spent last winter fixing it all up and ive been riding it the past 3 weeks! So far so good!
Looks like I was a UJM beginner XD, Found a 1980 CB750custom that was running for less than $1,000. Tore it down with my dad, repainted it and then proceeded to throw over 20,000 miles of my own onto it. Just got myself a 94 Shadow 1100 and staying on the road :)
YES - as a Royal Enfield rider, fairly accurate. Except in my area, lotta the people riding em I've noticed are either 1. younger folks (like me) getting into riding that like the style 2. older riders that started on cafe style and went to Harley's or something, but are now going back, but don't want to go commit Triumph again just yet. (can't knock the 3 year warranty a new one comes with - need to replace my speedo sensor, a common problem apparently on new ones)
Don't mind me, I'll just mutter about "character" and "soul" as I hop on my '75 cb750f SUPER SPORT YO....it's got a broomstick handlebar complete with bar end mirrors, rattle can paint job, heat wrapped straight pipe that I made myself, center stand chopped off, replacement side covers because the originals turned to dust, and o yeah, original factory airbox instead of pods, because I need it to actually run.
I'm probably a combination of the 2nd and third one. I want a bike like the instagram greats in the cafe racer community But I have a Yamaha RS110f with clip ons I still have not spent a dime on making it look more like a cafe racer so basically number 2 My professional cycling career leaves me with almost no time to tinker with my bike so much so that the only thing I know to adjust on my carburetor is the idle. So far the only thing I've spent money on this bike since I got it after my sister died riding it is -an oil change -new brake pads -new brake cables(yes I'm on drum brakes f&r) -new inner tubes -Clip ons -side mirrors I have not chopped the rear end to weld on a u shaped tube to make it look more like a cafe racer yet, then I don't have the cafe racer themed seat as well. At this point the only good thing on my bike is the engine, drivetrain, and suspension and the entire motorcycle is worth about 1/15th of what my bicycle is worth. I also barely ride it because I don't really have money for gas and it isn't registered.
Yammie I want you to guide me for my second bike So i have a aprilia rs660 Then i realize i need to have a street bike for everyday use But I don't know what bike is the best Don't wasted too much gas, still look cool Don't need too much power

Woo! Ticked 2 on this list; first bike was a 79 cx500, and I'm a current sporty rider.
Yo… Recently started following your channel and it’s been awesome!
I starting on a 82 Honda 450 nighthawk. Bought 3 to build 1.
I'm glad I upgraded from being a UJM Beginner to a motorcycle from this centuty lmao
I'm #3 (2020 Kawasaki W800) and #4 (1977 Honda CB400 Four).
CB-400 four?? Drool….
san diego craigslist is pure heaven for time travelling bikes
Can't argue with most of that about the Sportster.
I didn't even realize all this when buying my 17' Harley 48. I just kinda walked in, saw it and bought it. I barely even knew what a Harley was lol. It was more or less the bike was calling my name xD
I started on a 1979 Suzuki gs425 and I loved it
There is an amazing cafe racer built from an old Goldwing running around videoland.
I thought the video was over...
I thought wrong.
I turned around to go to the bathroom and then
"Keep watching Yammie Noob" blared from my dark and empty room.
I screamed...
I no longer needed to go to the bathroom
Everywhere is a bathroom
That ending was great :D
Carburetor = even when it's working right, it's not working right.....literally f*#%ing laugh out loud..6:35am....thanx yammie, time for coffee✌️🤘👊
I guess I would fall into the old guy group. '84 Goldwing Aspencade, '01 Valkyrie Interstate, '84 Shadow, '86 Shadow, '77 XL350, lmao!
Old Hondas just work
Fun as always.
2:40 the cutest thing I've seen the whole month this far
Haha~ Im a total noob and i got a cb750c for its scrap value~ i spent last winter fixing it all up and ive been riding it the past 3 weeks! So far so good!
Don't forget the E-retro riders; Neo-Hipsters/Cyberpunks.
Looks like I was a UJM beginner XD, Found a 1980 CB750custom that was running for less than $1,000. Tore it down with my dad, repainted it and then proceeded to throw over 20,000 miles of my own onto it. Just got myself a 94 Shadow 1100 and staying on the road :)
amazing video
The post-episode channel bump was my kind of humor.
That outro was... great!
So I'm a UJM, and Sportster guy...... I'm slowly becoming a farmer, I got a HOG and a Kaw.......
Gotta buy a Yam to complete it....
I gotta say yeah, the good and plenty candy mix with cucumber was the most important revelation of this video. I intend to try it on my wife.
about to be #3 myself...going to pick up a bonneville in a few days lol
Don't mind me, I'll just mutter about "character" and "soul" as I hop on my '75 cb750f SUPER SPORT YO....it's got a broomstick handlebar complete with bar end mirrors, rattle can paint job, heat wrapped straight pipe that I made myself, center stand chopped off, replacement side covers because the originals turned to dust, and o yeah, original factory airbox instead of pods, because I need it to actually run.
"It's my 'busa, and I need it now! Nice parody.
The good thing about riding a cafe racer in your fifties is that you don’t give a shit what anyone thinks!
Hey I live in the same town they make those Janus motorcycles in! Neat
It’s my busa and I need it now. Opera version when
I'm probably a combination of the 2nd and third one.
I want a bike like the instagram greats in the cafe racer community
But I have a Yamaha RS110f with clip ons
I still have not spent a dime on making it look more like a cafe racer so basically number 2
My professional cycling career leaves me with almost no time to tinker with my bike so much so that the only thing I know to adjust on my carburetor is the idle.
So far the only thing I've spent money on this bike since I got it after my sister died riding it is
-an oil change
-new brake pads
-new brake cables(yes I'm on drum brakes f&r)
-new inner tubes
-Clip ons
-side mirrors
I have not chopped the rear end to weld on a u shaped tube to make it look more like a cafe racer yet, then I don't have the cafe racer themed seat as well. At this point the only good thing on my bike is the engine, drivetrain, and suspension and the entire motorcycle is worth about 1/15th of what my bicycle is worth. I also barely ride it because I don't really have money for gas and it isn't registered.
Great video! :)
Yammie
I want you to guide me for my second bike
So i have a aprilia rs660
Then i realize i need to have a street bike for everyday use
But I don't know what bike is the best
Don't wasted too much gas, still look cool
Don't need too much power
Hahahah the last 15 seconds gave me a good chuckle
I will keep watching yammie noob
Hey Yammie, what is the best beginner bike to learn to wheelie????
Loved the ending
Have you done a “types of touring biker” vid yet?
Hey Yammie, you have any content yet on Marquez's latest high-side?
Okay I have work tomorrow so last video to watch. Hi papa yam😁
