  • A Watercolour Along the River Bank - Painting Greens
Hi everyone, in this demonstration I decided to recreate a recent plein air in oils that I made for my other channel, Paul's Mobile Studio. Only this time I used watercolours and explored not only the river and the reflections, but also the many greens to create in such a painting scene.
I also gave myself an added headache by choosing not to do any preliminary drawing beforehand electing instead to go in directly with paint. I hope that you enjoy the outcome. The full 90-minute, fully narrated version can be found on my Patreon channel.

my new Ink and Wash painting course launches over on my Podia site on Saturday 19th August.
    paulappsartist...
Packed with 7 full-length tutorials, with over 500 minutes of great content, with course notes and all the reference material including the line art.
I am really proud of this course, learning much from my first course Learning to Painting Skies in Watercolour. I built on that to deliver what I feel to be an exciting course all about painting Ink and Wash in Watercolours. Materials and procedures help you take your ink and wash paintings to the next level. This course is yours to access for life.

Enjoyed this one, thanks for sharing.
I find hot press paper almost a different experience with watercolour, it’s so different from cold or rough it can sometimes feel like I’m painting with gouache as the paint lifts so well it can be like it’s reactivating. It feels very unforgiving to work with but wet in wet effects can be fantastic and the pigments always seem more vibrant on hot press.
