I recently pulled mine out for my son and it still works but sometimes it doesn't light up! That's what brought me here. I've opened it and don't see anything out of place.
open it up and use Rubbing Alsholo and clean the motherboard, and underneath the rubber parts that sit under each color button. Also use IPA ont he batter terminals and sandpaper. make sure they are clear of any corrosion. even if youc ant see any its there.
It's totally worth it for a pocket Simon
I bought 2 echo dot at the Goodwill
Clean the battery terminals with vinegar to remove the corrosion
Substitute pcb by ARDUINO hardware, and leds, it works programmable and with a 9v battery it works for a very long time.
Very nice job! GJ
Thank you !
