Tyler, new sub via TXG - going through all your videos - really like this 55 yard shot stuff. Courses open here in Toronto and watched the 121mph Ian swing today. I'm a client of TXG - but wanted to reach out and say really like your short game stuff.
I honestly love this so much , i have bn trying this out on the course lately and that low penetrating flight into the pin with drop and stop is incredible when it works 😂 unfortunately i have still far to many thins and shanks , trying to pinch that ball is a true art more practice required for me but the technique is superb
Tyler this lesson and the 50 yd with Matt is awesome; great content! I go long back lazy through and add loft every time! 37* dynamic loft with a 60 is incredible thanks!!
@@tylermcghiegolf would that Motion (meaning that Part of the swing you did in the Video) be the same in a full swing or would there be more of a "Release"?
Great job ,, one of the hardest shots in golf ,,I love short game in golf ,,quick Q your grip is halfway up,, I put my grip kinda closer to shaft is this ok or you get more control halfway up ?? Ty
What a great video, i can see now my concepts of chipping and pitching are wayyyyy off, im to armsy and handys , the take i got from this video is to hit the shot with the pivot and turn of the body to hit the shot, can wait to get to the range to work on this. Thank you so much for a real quality video, loved the slow mo it is a great reference.
Hey man, love your content, how is the club interacting with the ground? How do you come 8 down and barely make a divot? How does the leading edge does not dig?
@@timmcgrath9708 His dynamic loft is 37 degrees on a 60 degree wedge. So somehow he lost 23 degrees of loft. That comes from a combination of setting up with a slight shaft lean, increasing that lean in the downswing and something called "vertical gear effect" (VGE). VGE happens when you make contact with the ball below the sweet spot of the clubface (hitting it "thin". Low on the face but of course not blading it ) . VGE causes the clubface to "roll over " the ball, further reducing loft. That's why these low launch spinners have to be hit low on the clubface (notice how thin/klicky his shots sound) , so that VGE can be introduced, which lowers launch and increases spin. As far as not taking a divot, it's because the arc is so shallow because there is no wrist cock.. The wrist cock you see at the top of his backswing was what he had at setup. He just holds that into the backswing. So considering all the complexities involved to pull this shot off, can you understand why Phil Mickelson call's it "a very low percentage play but a very sexy play".. lol..
Thanks, I like the feel aspect to this video as I like to look and react to these types of shots. Do you use the clock method at all for your distances with each wedge? I have been debating whether I should work on a system, but I am like I said feel oriented, and don’t want any extra swing thoughts while I’m focusing on the feel. Any advice on your experiences?
Hi Jamie. One way I like for feel players is instead of a clock system you can do percentage. So 100%, 50% and so on. It lets you keep to your focus on feels vs position.

Very helpful wedge lesson, I like in your vids you demonstrate shots! Thanks! 👍🇨🇦
Hey Tyler, do you find you are setting up with higher hands and almost keeping the heel out of the ground for most of these distance wedge shots.

Consistent speed going thru the ball for controlled distance. Great vid. Thanks.

Awesome Video as usual! Thanks for the slow mo as well, really helps me as a high handicapper to understand body /Club movement 🤙
Happy that helped!

@@Oswood1010 The club will be loaded a bit more because you are swinging faster but where the club come from will be similar.

Awesome vid man! make a video explaining how to put max spin and how to lower the spin... I think it would be good to understand more
Ok I'll add it to things to come. Thanks.

Great video. 24 deg launch angle on a 60 deg wedge. How do you do that ? Is that shaft lean? How does the cub not dig into the ground?
Thanks! Main parts are friction on the club, dynamic loft, and hit low on the face.
@@tylermcghiegolf Ok so are you using the bounce with these shots or does it rely on staying shallow?

When you talk about set positions, a side on view would make it easier to see the changes. Keep up the good work!
You got it Jay. I'll add a vid to my list for hitting different yardages with the face on view. Thanks!
Stiffs it to 1 foot lol.. Tyler you crushed it!! Do you think the planemate really helps ingrain this feeling/technique?
Thanks Zachary. I have not tired it. It might, but I currently use some other ways to achieve that goal.
