Traffic is more. Crime is more. Very limited on beaches - North has lots of options within easy access. Limited restaurant, shops etc. in close proximity. West is closer to mountains and hiking trails. I feel both have equal fishing and water activity options. West is a bit more clique vs North is more diverse and inclusive. West can feel closer to a French or South African setting due to the expat influence in the area. Couple of years ago, West was cheaper than the North, not sure if this is still the case. Starting out - North, allot easier to setup and experience a bit more authenticity and culture (you are in another country after all). If you want quieter lifestyle and don't want to feel like you are in Mauritius, move to the west and get your clique on!
great to see you guys, noticed the tractor and trailer in the background. how is the boating scene on the west side? apart from la balise, are there other places to store or launch boats? thanks
I think the East is the windward side of the island with tradewinds being predominant, and windier there. So I'm not sure about the temperatures, but its probably breezier there. The West would probably have more sheltered waters, and perhaps better boating.
Thanks for keeping it real and balanced! Beautiful place with lots of areas to choose from.
You’re welcome

Not that I'm doubting your perception, but when looking at geographical data, the east seems to be hotter than the west and the south.
