Humanity was barely responsible enough to deal with stone age technology. We are still nowhere near responsible enough to even deal with gunpowder technology. Yet here we are with technologies millions of times more dangerous. That coupled with our general lack of responsibility has made even our actual existence far far less stable. People need to drop all of their foolish biases now, and start learning how to be responsible and support each others freedom.
The issue is that the average citizen (and even the average politician) fail to recognize the game-like nature of what they are doing and treat it far more seriously than necessary.
Gaming is a sales tactic where you offer 2 choices and it directs thoughts towards the two that you had chosen for them. However, people are only playful after Maslow's hierarchy of needs are met including feeling their culture is not under threat.
I've been thinking about this for a while now! Better than watching this soap opera of politicians wasting our time and the news for their own personal benefit!
It is a dangerous and careless "game". Either a wastage of time or an exploitative exercise by the players against the audience. The thing is gov must and has to be a central focus for a civilised society to purposefully pursue their common good, well being and advance their interest as a people!
Thank you for your perspective. Governments will not be fair to people governed by them. There are many reasons. One glaring reason is trust. There is a trust that is demanded of the citizens. This trust is earned by stating popular opinions. The more people like you, the more people will allow you into government over them. Many people are easily impressed and/or easily distracted and make snap judgements. Then the people who get into positions of power expect strangers (constituents) to trust them while the constituents expect to be able to trust these strangers in power. Don't trust your government and it will push you around and force you into complacency. Trust your government and you essentially put on a blindfold and allow them the autonomy to be untrustworthy. When your government becomes untrustworthy, you are then to blame because you allowed them autonomous power over you. Can we fix this with a game-like structure? No. I say no because most people, yes even good people, will do something that is more beneficial to their point of view than it is to yours. It starts out small and is ignored; the trust of the constituents stays intact. The more autonomy and trust gained, the bigger the untrustworthy acts. It all comes to a point where the constitents blame the government and the government blames the constituents. Lose-Lose. Most people, if graded on participation, would get an "F". The ones who receive a higher grade would be those making the laws that govern the majority even though they obviously have huge differences in opinion about what is important. This is exemplified by comparing the participation grades.
Aren't all guvmints aristocracies of one sort or another? USA experiment in democracy has not worked cuz capitalism creates haves n have nots, I.e., aristocracy...have nots indebted to haves, I.e., slaves to capitalism
@@lynnrussell467 Yes. Haves n have nots. Small, tribal communities work because everyone knows each other. It is harder to deprive someone you know than it is to deprive an unknown multitude. It is also easier to maintain common goals. It is also easier to manipulate and control others and either stunt or promote personal growth and individuality. The solution is a problem and the problem is a solution. As for me, if I don't know you personally, then I'm not going to blindly trust you with my life or the lives of others I love, especially for any extended period of time. Perhaps political/government titles should come with specific probation periods and clear unalterable expectations. But participation is needed for any govt to work and the masses of people ignore it until it becomes their own problem, or their specific problem is being addressed. So, problems are created from solutions and visa/versa. The number of people being governed dictates the ease of solving and/or creating problems.

If we had a swipe left/right ‘game’ for helping to shape local/national policy, we’d get a ton more democracy and could do away with tons of politicians. Shall we play a game?
It's possible to have citizens participate anonymously with decision making without violating privacy rights. Using best solution models combined with pooling models, gaming can be designed to look at real world problems and recognize best solutions. The Chinese model is horrendous because it is either punitive, starting with full access and having it nibbled away, or starting from a baseline of no rights and creating a model where fundamental rights to equal treatment are ignored and basic services are warmed by conformity. I'm the speeding game model, shutting it down was not necessary. Creating an exclusion model where the same vehicle would be discarded in repeat attempts could have leveled the playing field. It's a lazy government that wouldn't correct that. It comes to mind that red light cameras are part of the game. Tying awards like insurance credits to driving that is monitored by these cameras anyway might be a better solution than the current, punitive one.
In that model, I would be - I'm citizen D in the model we have now... We have to play - like it or not... Millions of innocent victims of war did NOT want to play... We never have a choice... It will be a miracle if we succeed in NOT having a Civil War soon after this 2020 election... Technology is coming and it can not be stopped... It will be a very different world and very soon... Question is: Are we going to allow this group of people to CONTINUE lying to us and keep us in perpetual warfare? Right after Trump got elected, all the alphabet agencies rushed to have themselves an internet presence... And censorship ran amok on the internet... Will it continue to be a public place of free speech, or be a government spokes hole like mainstream media has been for many years?

Government is a game. A game to control your mind
Look into the Latin root meanings of govern and ment
You are not supposed to win this game of life.
The issue is that the average citizen (and even the average politician) fail to recognize the game-like nature of what they are doing and treat it far more seriously than necessary.
Govern = Control, Ment = of the mind

And yet, in its simplest form, it's still a game.
As of yet, the world has never seen a true democracy.
Wasn't game of thrones basically a game of government? 😬
