Blue Shift is fine. Sure it's not on par with say, Opposing Force, but that's because it never was never really meant to be on its level.

Never really considered Blue Shift as a bad game , just the weaker link from the original Half Life series.

@@LeanifyTV the game is like 2 hours long, like you can beat it in a single afternoon even if you are playing it for the first time

@@ACoarseGuy part of the reason why the hd models were on by default, since that game was made with the models in mind unlike the first game and opposing force
the general consensus of why blue shift is bad is because opposing force added new content, level design felt the same in both games to me but one just had flashier bits and pieces
I definitely felt that Blue Shift had some level design issues at times, but the same can be said for Half-Life really. Definitely the lack of shiny new stuff to draw more people in contributes to its reputation. People are wayyy too harsh
I think Blue Shit is not bad, and even really good at times! I always love how it made the world just seems a little bit bigger. It's just unfortunate that it has to stand next to both Half-Life and Opposing Force. And, at least from my experience, people tend to play it last right after beating base game and then Opposing Force. That results in playing a complete campaign, followed by an expansion that adds even more stuff, and then a game that's alright but doesn't have that much stuff. It just seemed underwhelming in comparison. Idk I'm "Blue Shift is alright actually" strongest soldier.

I like Xen levels in Blue Shift and find them more fun than the ones from Half-Life 1 with their platforming sections and terrible boss fights

Half of the cramped level design exists for the sole reason of originally being a Dreamcast exclusive. I really can't find it in me to dislike BS, because it's over in 2 hours at most.

Blue Shift is the best Half-Life expansion. If Decay had a single player and PC release, it would've been the best. Opposing force is the most boring out of all, even with all the additional weapons and NPCs. At least Valve appears to understand this😀
OpFor definitely stands on the shoulders of its bigger weapon and enemy variety. I’ve definitely had more fun with blue shift these days
blue shift is a masterpiece.
It’s a damn good game honestly, the minor nitpicks we can pick out about certain things are kinda overshadowed by the fact that it stands on its own two feet pretty well as a full experience
