It is quite interesting to know how psychotic weather PG has,by the way we are planning to move there in year or so . My question to you is with so much uncertainty how local market gardeners deal with it. Any suggestions about major local issues in PG could be crime, cost of living, construction blocking during summer months etc. Thanks
Yea I moved to PG for Perth Western Australia so it's like 10 months summer there I wasn't use to the weather but I ajusted just Gata have lots of cloths
Thanks for watching Sher! It's unlikely I'll be making any videos about Dawson Creek anytime soon, as I've not really even been there myself before , just once as a young child. Perhaps down the line though! :)
You're welcome! After having lived in Ottawa for 8 years where it's quite humid and also generally warmer, Prince George summers are perfect for myself personally, but definitely some weeks when it goes above 30 get to be a bit much for me also! Haha
Thanks for sharing! My hubby is from there and we live on beautiful Vancouver Island, but we have MANY rainy days which you get used to for the most part. Either the super cold and sun or grey and rain..hmmm I really enjoy both climates for different reasons .
Hi Marc, thanks for the PG videos. I wonder if you get to cover about Prince George hospital and the general status of the health care staff employees( esp.nurses and their benefits, the affordability to own a home, etc... the essentials to know for an independent citizen who’s thinking of relocating.).
Hi GG. My apologies for the tardy response. I've taken a step back from my videos for a few months to focus on growing and scaling my Residential Real Estate business. But I'll be getting back to videos in the coming weeks, and this is definitely a video i'd be interested in creating :)
Sorry I’m new to the channel so I’m a bit late to the party and I enjoy your take on living in PG. One thing that wasn’t touched on is that PG is the only major city in BC that is in a “snow belt” and unlike other cities getting snow falls of 15-30cm are quite common and unlike other cities in BC a snowfall does not shut the city down. Another thing that is more noticeable especially in the summer is that you can have fairly significant temperature swings driving from the Bowl to the Hart or College Heights as both sit several hundred feet higher than the city proper. It could be 30c in the bowl but be 18c in the Hart and as stated you can have every type of weather system in the same day. Thank you for the videos and keep up the good work.
Those are excellent points Dean! PG is definitely situated in a pretty interesting topographical location in those regards :) Thank you for sharing and supporting the channel as well :)
how long have you lived in prince george? when the cycle comes back around, trust me, the snow will shut the city down. ok not for long when the crews come out and peck away at the roads (roughly about 1/2 an hour) but even in the extreme days, its unlike other major cities (namely ones on an island down south), the chances of prince george shutting down is almost nil. they well shut schools down though at about -40/-50. when we where kids it used to snow something out of the prehistoric times. 1 time, we opened the door to go out to the car and all you can see was about 3"s of light. it was also do to the heavy winds blowing the snow. thats out in pineview in the old farming community on lund road (community no longer there). the one major issue is iced up roads. black ice, slippery road with slim layer of ice, big pile of ice where your car rides on an angle (specially around spruceland down from the old cabin) and side of spruceland), snow covered ice, roads covered with teenagers heading to or coming home from school ice
Thanks, Sir. It's indeed an informative video. I will move onto PG next year. As an international student, I do not have any experience of living in a cold area like PG.😅 It’s a matter of fright somehow about the weather.
@@greattubing2880 Yeah lol. The idea of experiencing multiple seasons in one day isn't the truth of it.....all it really means is that it can go from super cold to a little less super cold from morning to afternoon. And then maybe for a day or two here and there it might warm up to above freezing, which can seem like summer in comparison to how cold it was. The fact is, when you've got a place where people need to huddle up to heating for several months out of the year, especially with little opportunity and expensive living costs, all you end up with is a lot of bored people who turn to drugs, which turns into crime. It's basically one step up from an arctic town that uses snowmobiles and sled dogs to get around, except worse because there's more people to cause trouble, just enough that not everyone knows everyone, so there's no sense of family/comradery to your fellow man. So criminals have no gripe with just stealing something from you, because they don't care, they don't have anything better to do, and it's a bonus for them they otherwise wouldn't have. When there is no bounty to be had from the land because it is harsh and desolate, the only bounty there is, is what you can harvest from those around you.
That's an interesting little story you've woven there, but unfortunatly sounds like someone who has never even stepped foot up here. The majority of what you said is so inaccurate its hard to know where to begin, so instead I'll just say this. IF you HAVE been up here, you clearly didnt have a great experience, and thats fine. No place is for everyone, but to spread nonsense like this, is just silly. Prince George is one of the most incredible places to live and raise your children, and if you dont agree, then there are many many other wonderful places that might suit you better :)
@@alj521 oh nice! We definitely have a lot of incredible camping areas in our beautiful province, and many of them are up this way :D Plus although our prices have risen a lot this year, our city is still one of the most affordable for a city this size :) Feel free to call or text me if you have any questions down the line about relocating here :). 250-251-5800
And what are you taking about 3 - 4 months of sunshine hahah it isn't evern summer here it's either raining all summer in PG or there's so many fires around that it's red smoke everywhere
Snow is rare in summer, but we definitely have had it before ! A few years ago we actually had a few hours of wet soggy snow come down in mid July and last for a few hours , haha. So you just never know it seems up here in the North
Marc Posselt thanks much Marc! I will keep all the info in mind! Also wondering if you know cheap accomodations or apartments in PG for 2-3 persons fully furnished /non furnished and cost? Sorry got a lot of questions😊
@@viviancordoves4220 No worries , I'm happy to help. Unfortunately when it comes to rental accommodations, it's tough in PG right now. Our vacancy is around 0.2% right now, which is crazy low, so it's quite hard to find cheap rentals.
I got admit in college of New Caledonia in pg diploma in IT. What are the job opportunities in IT in prince george? Or part time jobs available for international students?
Well I've never been to Northern Manitoba, but i know the prairies get a lot of the cutting wind and such due to the nature of the topography. Here in PG, it does get windy at times, and the temperatures have been known to dip down to -30 during the winters on occasions, but its usually a fairly predictable winter. I hope that helps?! haha
It's so funny to me that you mention that. That's actually my own critique to myself after basically every video, haha. What can I say, I'm a work in progress. 🤣 Thanks for watching!
The weather is always bad, the air stinks, because of the refinery, most of the people are not nice to non "Canadians" it is very dangerous ( the most crime ridden city in BC, this guy is desperate, trying to bring people in. Good luck
You're entire comment is so...misinformed, it's hard to know where to start, haha. PG is clearly not your cup of tea, and it doesn't have to be. No-one's forcing you to live here, but my guess is, that with an attitude such as yours, you're going to find things to complain about regardless of where you end up. 🤷🏼♂️
