I still have my q2 but recently picked up the x100vi. While the price is a fraction of the q2, it’s nowhere near the capabilities of the q. X100vi is not sharp at f2 but weighing only 2/3 of the Leica and it being “pocketable”, this is easily my bring everywhere camera. While the q2 lens is second to none, it’s just too damn big.
I also ordered the x100vi although it has not arrived yet. I preordered it months ago now. I had the x100v and also did not think it was very sharp but it is smaller, lighter, and cheaper. Perfect for an edc camera.
I really like the reporter edition. I was thinking of the Q3 (not sure if it has a reporter edition) but between the weight and the forced noise reduction onto raw files, I ended up just getting a x100v and that has worked well.
The Leica Q2 is a luxury camera. If you are price constrained or sensitive and/or need to justify the camera, it’s not for you. It’s not technically ‘the best’ camera either and the 24mm [claimed 28] focal length is too wide for many people, although I soon got used to it and crop when I feel it needs it. For myself, I’ve just come in [10.30am] from taking some 180 exposures, not with my Leica but with a technically superior Sony A7III with a Sigma 24mm lens. Why choose that this morning rather than the Leica? Well it’s like this… I have a good number of cameras and I enjoy using them all. My favourites are probably the Lumix GX80 and Olympus E-M1 MkII but I love using them all and although I will never wear any camera out through work, I do use them all in turn occasionally. The Q2 is the least used but the second most enjoyable to use, for me, and I have zero need to justify my ownership, use, or lack of use of it. It gives me pleasure both in pride of ownership and in its use. I can get acceptable to great photos from any camera with individual constraints, so often choose a camera and lens combinations for what I guess will be needed for that occasion.
I agree that it is a luxury camera. I also knew how much I was spending on it before buying it and was ok with that. I was just simply stating the fact that I wasn’t using it enough to justify the price of it. I actually enjoyed using the x100v more than the Q2 but again, that’s just me. Thank you for watching and your opinion. I appreciate it.
Funny, this video popped into my feed today - and I uploaded myself a video, why I sold my Q3 :D Can totally resonate with your reasons, had similar experience. Great video! :)
That’s funny that it popped up as you had the same type of video go live. I appreciate you tuning in and commenting! I’ve watched a bunch of your videos and I have to say “Great job!” Very nice to meet you!
I'm the exact opposite - when I'm running out of the house, it's often the camera I grab. It works in just about every situation I find myself in and when I get home to look at the images, I'm always happily surprised. You definitely don't need to put it in a bag. Just throw it over your shoulder and it's all good. I understand your reasons for selling though - it's not the right camera for you. Makes perfect sense to me!
Nice review!!! I’m on preorder for the x100vi and contemplating selling my q2 reporter. That’s a lot of money sitting there and I’m hoping the new one will be more carry able. The Q2 just looks so good…

So happy you made this video. I’ve been wondering why you sold your Q2.
Thanks for watching!

Agreed! It sure does look good!
id say the q1 can be a one and done leica camera at a “reasonable” price
What camera set up are you now using as your edc?
Sony a7cii with the Tamron 35mm 2.8 currently until my x100vi gets here. Has been on preorder for a few months now.
If Leica were priced at $1500, because that's the actual value of one, no one would buy one.
Don’t disagree about the pricing but you’re putting down a brilliant camera✌️
It can’t be priced at 1500$ because it is Made in Germany.
Leica is only for trendy hipsters
Good for Leica that these trendy hipsters are there since 1954 😂
