This has got to be one of the BEST tutorials I've ever seen for a beginner or higher level musician. He breaks the dynamics so calmly, it's magical. Thank you Travis.
Duuuuuuuude! This is a phenomenal breakdown! This is what I’ve been looking for! This is gonna help me up my game tremendously! Thank you! I’m subscribing RIGHT now! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
It's good to see someone teaching slaps in a 5 string, I'm learning now and I'm having a hard time striking the strings precisely and muting that B string
Great video! That really simplifies the process of getting started with slapping technique. As a beginner trying to become an intermediate, I really appreciate that.
Thank you Travis! I’m sure that your videos are helping more than just my bass playing. Bass is the glue in every band! So whole bands are sounding better!
Your bass pedal link does not work, and I would like to know what you use. Excellent video, a lot to learn, keep it up man, you are an amazing muscician!
Not ground breaking but probably helps others who aren't aware of ghost notes. Most would advise using at least 3 fingers to mute than using 1 as you here harmonics or partial harmonics ring out.
Great lesson I learned something today. In the near future will you do a breakdown/tutorial on gospel traditional songs like praise the lord everybody, I get joy when I think about what he’s done for me, There a storm out on the ocean, if you call on Jesus he will will answer prayer. Can’t nobody do me like Jesus , Living he loved me
Thumbnail: What pros won't tell you Me: You just told us how it's done and I think your the father of "pros" P.S thank you so much it's been a week and I'm progressing much better ❤️
What I don't understand is how to eliminate the fret buzz after you play a note and your fingering hand is leaving the fret board. When I play I always hear buzz as I am lifting away to mute the string. Is there a way to control that split second of fret buzz?
Honestly I'd really love to see these techniques be used more in metal music. They lend themselves so well to it but only math and djent bands have figured that out lol
Experienced guitarist here who just recently picked up bass. This is one of the most AHA videos I've ever watched. Very much appreciated!

I appreciate the love! Thank you.
This video is lit. I’m gonna use these tips to improve my own slap bass improvisations. The possibilities are endless
Brother…THANK YOU! Learned a lot in just this video! 👊🏽😉 Be Blessed!
Love the playing and classes. I just picked up the bass guitar as a 50 year old and you are the first person I subscribed to. Keep doing it.
I'm honored. Welcome to the family!
Your lessons are very practical. Very generous effort put into these videos. Thanks Travis.
Duuuuuuuude! This is a phenomenal breakdown! This is what I’ve been looking for! This is gonna help me up my game tremendously! Thank you! I’m subscribing RIGHT now! ❤️❤️❤️❤️🔥🔥🔥🔥
Awesome! I've slapped for 20+ years & never heard a teacher/lesson state Doubles, Triples, 3rds & 5ths like that. 🙏
Excellent lesson.I've been playing for over forty years but I suck at slap. This actually helped! Thanks 👍
Great lesson mate. Easy to understand.
That's the clearest explanation on how to slap/pop/mute the bass ever. Thank you very much, Travis, and greetings from Germany 😎.
Thank you so much, Travis! This was a huge eye-opener for me! Such a cool and fun approach!
This is amazing, can’t believe it’s free

Great lesson man… l learned something
Great video. Thanks
I was listening to videos while mowing the lawn and it sounded like Michelangelo from TMNT was teaching bass haha
Awesome stuff my buddy and brother 🙂
Scotty! Appreciate you man.
@@TravisDykes thank you so very much Travis 🙂may God bless you and all your family we are praying 🙏 for you all everyday 🙏 💙
Awesome lesson, as always!!!
Definitely this video change my life
You look good brother. Keep doing what you do.
That bass is just too nice. Kind of makes me miss my five-string jazz bass.
Your style and technique would pair so well with a Musicman Stingray 5, Pedulla MVP5, or a vintage Tobias Basic 5.
Yeah, I don't know how I feel about the sound of those Bass Mods...They sound too sterile to my ears 🤔
I love seeing slap on a five string! Nice!
Your bass pedal link does not work, and I would like to know what you use. Excellent video, a lot to learn, keep it up man, you are an amazing muscician!
Some Dunlop Ultra brights might sound really good on that.
Yeah, I'm totally down to try those!
Learned so much!! Thanks for this!!!
Helped me a lot, thank U very much 😎
Thanks
Haha Horace Trahan. i think that sounds like the beginning of the song from grease . your the one that i want . lol
Awesome. Thank you.
He lost 100 lbs
All that slappin’

I agree. You want to use single finger mutes very seldom because they do cause those harmonics to ring out. Thank you for that!
This video is just too good 🔥
What I struggle with is plucking the actual string I mean to pluck. And plucking it cleanly, without it being too soft
Nice grooves and great explanation but are those actually triplets or rather a three note phrase using 16th notes in that rhythm?
He's playing three 16th notes, not triplet rhythms.
@@d.l.loonabide9981 that’s what I thought. He should use double and triple instead of “triplet” to avoid any confusion. Thanks.
His tutorial is very good apart from that.
I hope this video changes my unable to slap
I really enjoyed the lesson, pls I need a sound card can u help pls thank u
Amazing job with this tutorial! Thanks, it helped me a lot.
What you call triplets are 16th notes. A better word would be f.e. "triple strokes". But in general, I like your video!
I definitely need to practice muting more. My Ibanez rings a lot!
Too much infos! But loving it bro! Keep it coming!
@7:38 sounds like chris brown “Fine China”

AMEN!!! L* For our LORD. God bless
I've got that video on my list! I'll try and get it out soon.
Awesome love it
A ghost note on the Guitar is when you press the note down but don't hit the string
Thumbnail: What pros won't tell you
Me: You just told us how it's done and I think your the father of "pros"
P.S thank you so much it's been a week and I'm progressing much better ❤️
what make and model is that beautiful bass you’re playing?!
Bass Mods K534!
Good
Wahou 😭 thanks 🙏
Has that particular Bass (you are playing in this video ) been set up yet or were your D and G strings just out of tune ?
Hey Travis what brand bass are you playing? I can't seem to find it online, I saw one at Texas bible college this year but couldn't tell
What I don't understand is how to eliminate the fret buzz after you play a note and your fingering hand is leaving the fret board. When I play I always hear buzz as I am lifting away to mute the string. Is there a way to control that split second of fret buzz?
Hey Travis! I need some advice on Handicap my plucking hand.. I can’t feel the strings Bossman??!!🤔
Honestly I'd really love to see these techniques be used more in metal music. They lend themselves so well to it but only math and djent bands have figured that out lol
Do you think it is possible to play bass with long nails? I use gloves to attempt to play bass. I’m praying and hoping to play with my small church.
How do I get your outro Jam Travis ¿!!
