- This video covers how to format tables and figures properly in your research paper. Also, how to automatically add formatted captions and references in the text that will update automatically.
I teach in Japan, so I used a Japanese version of Windows 7 and MS Word 2013 to make this video-although my explanations are in English. So, apologies to any viewers who don't use Japanese.
You can turn off the subtitles by clicking the CC button, and make sure to watch it in HD so you can see all the buttons clearly. Хобби
Now do this tutorial in Japanese... but with English tabs!!
=)))))))))))
😂😂😂
At first I was mad that everything was all in Japanese, but now I'm super happy because you explained everything and I got my tables right, even with all the visual instructions written in Japanese. Thanks.
Glad it helped. And I admire your patience with the Japanese!
most strange tutorial I have ever seen but this is indeed well-explained
Thank you for sharing this instruction. I truly appreciate that you use the Japanese version for explaining this because it is exactly how I use my PC even though I am doing my research project for Doctor of Nursing Practice. やっぱり日本語表示の方がわかりやすいです^^ 助かりました。有難うございます!
Thanks for the helpful tutorial. I thinks it could be better if you worked on English version of MS Word.
+Aymen AlAwady Thanks for the comment. I teach Japanese students so I used the Japanese version of both Word and Windows for them. I must admit it's a little strange to be speaking English and pointing to Japanese words on the screen.
Hey, thanks so much. I'm working on a publication right now as an undergraduate, and you have no idea how any hairs i've pulled out trying to figure out formatting my tables lol
Thank you so much Steve. Great tutorial and well explained. I always wonder how journals make professional table and you answered my question now :)
God bless you for this tutorial, sir.
Great video Steve - deciding to go tables over figures for some descriptive statistics, and this worked well :)
I was happy to see the Japanese language in your word ;)
Thanks again. I always come back to use this information.
Hugely helpful video, even though it used Japanese word. Thank you!
very good job, i have greek word 2007, i saw your japanese, but still it worked with the first attempt, you are a very good instructor
Sorry for the late reply. That's great that it worked for Greek. I suppose the buttons are all in the same places and you'd need to do all the same things to make it work in English.
Thanks to you, my paper looks awesome now! :D
Effective video for researchers, thank you
日本人ですか。英語が上手なので、アメリカ人だと思いました。Besides, great video, first one that I found on this topic that explained everything properly👍
Thanks. You might be one of the few people who can really get something from this one. And by the way... アメリカ人ですが、日本に住んでいます。
Very well organised. Thank You.
Very helpful, thank you very much!
hello , may i know the data in the table which have insert the a b c letter , how can i make this by statistic and which program should i use?
Thank you for your useful video. However, I want to insert 2 charts next to each other. Would you mind showing me how to do it?
Great video! How can I separate the bottom border between two consecutive cells?
I just gotta say your accent is excellent for a non-native speaker :)
Thank you for the tutorial
Excellent description. Next time, do an English document. We would appreciate that, king.
Thanks again. I always come back.
were you able to copy and paste the results from your paper into the table in word. An answer would be greatly appreciated
Thank you so much, sir! It was truly helpful :)
Very well explained, great work
May i know that in some research, the subheading bottom border is actually separated by small gap. How to acheive this in ms word?
Because it seems like that solely applying the bottom border will create a continuous line, making it hard to discern some important subheadings
You are the best. Thank you so much :)
Very useful, thank you 🙋♥
very helpful thanks a lot
this is brilliant, thank you
Thank you so much.
Thank you super useful!
excellent. very helpful!
Thank you it was helpful
Thank you for the helpful video. Nice voice :D
How did you make the gap on the line between women and men?(In the original paper, not the word document you showed)
Yasin were you able to figure out how to do this task? if yes can u plz tell me also
The video is really helpful (except I have to match the position in English WORD for what option is clicked). It makes my dissertation ready.
Please , is it possible to repeat this for an English version for word documents? thank you.
Does anybody know the font type from 0:14?
THANK YOU THIS REALLY HELPS
HIHIHIHIH
in this example, what would be the independent variable and what would be the dependent variable? thanks in advance
In the figure example, the independent variables are kind of water (fresh vs. sea) and time, and the dependent variable is the weight of the fish. In the table, the independent variables are condition (facial-constraint vs. control) and gender, and the dependent variables are reaction time and error percentage.
In graphs, the independent variables are on the x-axis (and colors etc.), and the dependent variable is the y-axis. In tables, usually the independent variable is vertical and the dependent variable is horizontal, but it might be the other way depending on what fits on the page.
Dude, loved your video but the japanese got me confused. Super glad still haha keep it up
good stuff. thank you
Very useful video indeed. Thank you very much. It'd be better if you use English version of MS Word though.
Thank you for this
how to interpret the letters behind the mean +- SD?
Just curious how people would follow in English if your Microsoft is in a different language?
Thank you very much
Very good!
thanks for the video
Thanks a lot
It is really good! Could you please make a vid in English version of MS word?
Thanks mate
yes please do it in english word
thank youuuuu
would be alot better if the dam word document was in English not Japanese
oh yeah... that was ridiculous
nice sir
Nihongo haha... I am literally rolling here XD
Yeah, sorry. I teach Japanese students and made this video for them. But I'm planning to make an updated version with English Word on Win10.
No worries, one can just follow corresponding english options/settings. It was just funny to see Japanese all of a sudden and perfect English in the background. :D I just remembered Japanglish pronunciation of words when I went to Japan on summer program. They are so adorable when they try to speak English. :D As Japanese girls use to say: Kawaiii :D LOL
Aregato sempai!
An English version will be even better.
Its wonderful. But can you convert this into English.
Why is this in Japanese or Chinese word? Really hard to see what is going on.
yyyeahh...your explanations do not include saying the word of the thing you are clicking on...'clicking here....and clicking here...' means i have no idea what you are clicking on. at all.!
aaah *yawn* this is super well made aaaah *yawn* *yawn* thanks dude ! *yawn*
So why not do your writing in Japanese then??
very useful however
nice japan
讲得很好,但是自己对着找按钮要找半天😅
what's the point of speaking in English and using a Japanese word as demonstration.
Now all I have to do is to get a Japanese version of MS WORD with unreadable tabs to draw my tables.
the video would have been helpful even with the words being in Japanese if you were to say what you're clicking instead of saying click here. for example, click on insert then table to helo people who do not read Japanese.
God, please let me pray you.
haha
Speaking in English with Japanese demonstration , click here, click here, and I was saying what is here in that here ^_^
Bro why on earth is the narration in english but the video in japanese
Why would you speak in English but have the word document in Japanese?! How does that make any sense? Especially if you’re saying “click here” and not saying what you’re actually clicking. Tutorials are supposed to make it easier, not harder.
I made this video for my students, who are Japanese, and wasn't really expecting anyone else to watch it. My students were making the opposite complaints, like "your computer is all in English, but we all have Japanese Office", so I replaced an earlier video with this one. Since other people seem to be watching this, I do plan to make an English-only one with the latest Windows and Office when I get a chance. And I say "click here" because I didn't want to use the Japanese words like "click on the kouetsu tab" and it seemed weird to say "click on the review tab" when the button didn't say "review". So that's the method behind the madness. Sorry for the annoyance!
Hi Steve, I want to thank you for the brilliant job and also request that you redo the English version of this tutorial, please. I mean you use the English version of the MS Word.
Tf im supposed to understand ??
seriously Japanese word arrrgggghhhhhhhh
great but please consider that not everyone can read Chinese or whatever the language of your office has
why chineese
This is bullshit Steve. You tutorial lesson is very good, but the language of your computer is in another language most of your viewers don't understand. It is always good to look at the bigger picture.
why the hell would you think it's a good idea to do an english tutorial without english selected as the language in the software?
read the description
u idiot
very strange tutorial video...
Thank you very much
