    • @APAStylebySam
      @APAStylebySam  3 года назад

      If there is room for the following paragraph, you could put that in the gap. Or you could put your tables at the end of the paper instead of in the body. Or there's just a large gap.

    So, every time you change a table number, you have to change every other table number, is there any way to make it automatic?

    • @APAStylebySam
      @APAStylebySam  3 года назад

      If you're adding more tables before tables that already exist, then yes that would change their number. Not sure on how to make that automatic - you could always wait on 'officially' numbering them until you are confident everything is in and in the proper order.

    hi, I have a question, how to number tables in apa-7.
    Like if chapter4 explains results being displayed using tables, would I be numbering my tables i.e Table 4.1, Table 4.2, or do I have to number Table 1, Table 2.
    (note: tables are starting from chapter4)

    • @APAStylebySam
      @APAStylebySam  2 года назад +1

      Tables are numbered sequentially, so always start at 1 and go up from there. Chapters do not matter. So if the first table in Chapter 4 is the seventh table in your paper, it is Table 7. I believe the only major exception to that is with Appendices, in which case you would start at A1 for the first table in Appendix A, and do that for any appendix that has tables. So if you have tables in appendices A and C, the first table in each section would be A1 and C1, respectively.
      If you are writing a thesis/dissertation, check to see if your graduate school has specific requirements for labeling/numbering tables.

    Thank you very much for this so informative video and guide! I have one question to ask regarding the options available to place tables in papers. You mentioned that there are 2 options, either in the main text or at the end, I was wondering if it is possible to go with both options in one paper e.g. I include a table that I feel is essential in the main text and also have other tables at the end of the document after the references. If it is in fact acceptable, what would be the numbering in such a case? -is it safe to assume that all tables are numbered by order of appearance/mention or would tables included in the main text precede those at the end in terms of numbering, or vice-versa?

    • @APAStylebySam
      @APAStylebySam  3 года назад +1

      Good question. For Tables that are part of the paper, I believe you're supposed to either integrate them into the main body or put them at the end, so use one method or the other. However, you can include Tables in the Appendices if they are more supplemental in nature. So you put the most pertinent tables in the body and put the supplemental ones in Appendices. And the numbering would still be sequential, starting with the ones in the body.

    • @nkiossss
      @nkiossss 3 года назад

      @@APAStylebySam I see, that makes sense. Thank you for your answer! By sequential in this sense you mean let's say: Main Body: Table 1, Table 2, Table 3 and then Appendices: Table A4, Table A5 or would it be Table A1, Table A2 in the Appendices?

    Hi there, in the past I used to submit the papers with a reference in the text "Insert Table 1 about here". Should I not do it anymore according to the new guidelines? Is it optional now?

    • @APAStylebySam
      @APAStylebySam  3 года назад +1

      If that's what the journal you're submitting to wants, do it. Otherwise, it's not necessary.
