Late last year, whilst freaking out about my own upcoming chiari surgery, I found the vlog of Delilah's surgery (and your channel). There I was, a 29yr old grown woman, letting my anxieties and fears about the unknown get the better of me by youtubing ACTUAL surgeries when I came across Delilah. I was immediately struck by her resilience and bravery. I thought "If this sweet little girl can face this thing head on, then surely I can pull myself together and do it too!" It wasn't easy and I've never known pain like it, but, taking inspiration from Delilah, I had the surgery. I am now fully recovered and I've never looked back. So happy "zipperversary" Delilah. I hope one day you might know just how much your story and your bravery has helped others just like you. And thank you Alyssa, for sharing your brave little girl's story with the world. Much love x
Wow! One year already? I also celebrate the day I have had my surgeries because it's such a blessing to be alive today. To my fellow Chiari warrior Delilah, you are amazing!!!!
I’m very late but I hope Delilah is all healed and feeling better now. Poor thing no one especially her should have to go through something like that❤️
I cried this whole video. This is one of the worst things that could ever happen to such a wonderful and beautiful family ! I am so proud of how strong Delilah is! She is truly inspiring!!
I just found your channel. I'm a mommy of a 3 year old and one on the way. I couldn't handle what you have. She is such a strong little girl! I cried half way through this video. She's such a big and strong girl!
It's crazy bc my Surgiversary for my Chiari Decompression is August 31. We had the same surgery a little over a month apart. I'm glad Delilah is doing well even if the news in the past hasn't been the best we wanted to hear. She is a true warrior. My "sister" in purple!
It's okay to be scared and upset about the situation. That's such a truamatic thing as a parent and child to endure but you did it and you survived! She survived!
I had the same surgery when I was 4 in August 24th 2011. I'm 11 now and the pain was horrible. I know what you went through honey. Just know that god will be with you and hold your hand all the way through this adventure. -Haven
i still can't believe how different and young she looked. I feel like I watched it for the first time again and that it wasn't that long ago. way to go delilah & sending love to winter too! love watching you guys!
Aw God bless your family I can't believe it has been a whole year since her surgery! Delilah is one of the most positive kids I know (or seem like I know) considering what she went through! Keep going strong, but as you know, remember it is okay to be scared and to be upset, but just remember how strong Delilah is and that I, along with many others pray that she gets better every day. I love you guys! 💜 I really wish I could meet you, you really inspire me. Xxxxx
Aww that was so cute I loved the flashbacks it's crazy to see how much she's grown in a year. I loved all the treats you gave her and she deserves it she's been so brave this year with all she's been through and she's such a strong little girl. Also love the swing set in the back I noticed it straight away hopefully you'll be able to get it up this year if the weather is nice for you
Happy surgiversary miss Delilah! I get the feels every time I see her surgery video. Alyssa thank you so much for sharing your sweet family with us through these tough times, it has truely made a difference in my life ~hugs~
I'm so glad that you have no dislikes you and your family deserve nothing less! I wish you all the best and hope that the future is bright for Delilah and Winnie 😚😚
It been a fast recovery for You Delilah . I know the scared and fear of going in to surgery, I can't imagine Brain Surgery especially when Delilah is 4 years old
You guys have been so strong through this, I know it isn't always easy but you are there for her every step of the way and that's what matters. Thank you for letting us follow your journey.
I'm so happy for Delilah! She is truly amazing! So what is happening now? Has Delilah's condition gotten better? I feel like I haven't heard a lot about it in a while.
Today is August 10, 2018. Twenty six years ago today my son had brain surgery, he was four years old. It's an experience parents never forget. We are blessed.
I can't believe it has been a year. It does seem like yesterday sometimes. I would have called the police on the jerk who left the dog in the car and how dare they get lippy!
I found you when you were trying to get pregnant with Delilah and have continued to watch anytime you have vlogged. Your family is so amazing for everything you've gone through and still held strong. Delilah is going to take every struggle she has and become an amazing and strong woman because she has you and Charles supporting her and encouraging her to be the best she can be.
Please give Delilah a hug for me. Y'all are so strong but at the end of the day, we gotta do what we got to do. I've had to debate getting the same surgery, but I haven't yet. I kinda wish my family had known about it when I was younger because now I google everythingggg about Chiari and SB
Awwwww so sad. My mom has chiari and didn't find out til she was 35 when she had it and she was born like it. My mom had her surgery on December 10 2015
Hey Alyssa, has Delilah had DNA testing??? I know that sometimes with these more rare disorders doctors get focused on what they know about the patient rather than looking deeper...I have Ehlers Danlos Syndrome and am currently awaiting my MRI results to see if I have Chiari Malformation, I've just recently come to find out that they are what my neurologist called "sister disorders", and that anyone with Chiari should be tested for EDS and anyone with EDS should be tested for Chiari....this is only being told to me after getting my EDS diagnosis YEARS ago. I dunno why I'm only now receiving this information and why I'm only now being tested, so I figured that if I didn't know that you guys may not know either??? I hope you see this.
can't get over how much the girls have grown - delilah looks so grown up and winter definitely looks like a "kid" no longer a baby - the girls are beautiful - I miss when my son was their ages and all the fun we had - sadly can't have the same kind of fun these days, he'll be 46 in Nov and he has been an "old fart" since he was a little kid (hah-hah) best wishes for the coming year
Oh sweet Delilah - you have done so well at healing up since your surgery, kiddo! You are very brave and strong! Speaking of strong, Alyssa you and Charles impressed me then and still impress me today. I'm sorry your back is so sore. I can certainly empathize with you. My daughter watched this with me and said "that's how scared I am when you go in for spine surgeries, mom". Dang near broke my heart. Anyways, what a fun vlog to watch. You and Charlie crack me up together. I love how he can always make you laugh. Your laugh is contagious, Alyssa. Hang in there Alyssa & Charlie. You are great parents. xo Heather🇨🇦
How are the girls doing sharing a room? And crazy to think how far she has come. I feel like we have become more things going on since surgery but I keep looking at all the things she really has over come since surgery as well. We just need to over come the after part and lose the vent and trach and this Chiari momma will be so much happier.
Thank you, we decided to have baby number two after four years and are very scared of having another child go threw this but the doctors have assured us anything is possible but we probably wont have another baby with Chiari seeing that we dont have chiari ourselves.
This is such an amazing video 💜💜💜💜 I love this but I have to admit I cried my eyes out watching the video watching her go through all the tests but came out with a smile watching her blossom and full of happiness playing making memories.
I think you all have the most amazing family 💜 My twin was diagnosed last month with Chiari she is 3 yrs old and we find out this afternoon if her twin has Chiari Malformation your daughter's video gives us hope
Happy surgivercery. Continued prayers for good health. Life with Chiari has its ups and downs. My surgery was when I was 19. It was the worst surgery of my life, (because of the eds in my family I have amniotic band syndrome requiring many surgeries. ) I am happy to see you doing so well.
AlyssaAllDay It took me a long time to accept it as just needing to be part of my life. I will always do my best to support fellow Chiari/ EDS people. I am on Facebook if you ever need to bounce a question off a non medical professional, with 13 years of Chiari experience.
i just found u today and i believe that ur daughter has the same thing my nephew has i am helping raise my nephew and 2 neices with my sister its just us to and her kids my nephew has gone through so much in the last two and a half years he just turned 4 and he was born with no soft spot well he was in my sisters womb his scull was completely fused then he justarted getting really sick 2 and a hlaf years ago he has had soo many mris and hospitalizations we just went through his last mri to see if his brain has come out farther from the bottem of his skull when he first got his mri when he was two for the malformation it was out 9mm but still they wanted to wait till he turned 4 please could u messaged back and let us know how the surgery and the healing went he is a very hipper little boy and did ur daughter have to wear a hemlet my nephew will half to after he gets his skull ckacked and a mesh put over top. he is also got lupis that is triggered form having gluten this is just the tip of the iceberg i would loved to talk to u more about this please and thank you
At the end of looking back at the surgery you say the result of the surgery was dissapointing. The condition got worse... What does that meen voor delilah? Such a positieve family! ❤️
I have the same thing but i haven’t had surgery I know how you feel or used to feel.Have you had one of the spells it seems like someone crazy took over your body if you haven’t had one it is really bad and I am happy that you have had surgery.
I have a cancer free brain I had my brain surgery to remove a tumor but one year later I had to get an MRI so I didn't get to celebrate mine but at least it went well

God Bless Delilah survived. She and Winnie are adorable. I love you guys. I always watch you when I am having a hard time.
When I saw Delia, if I did not know, I would not expect to see such a happy active girl have a condition like chiari...wow.
It's okay to be scared and upset about the situation. That's such a truamatic thing as a parent and child to endure but you did it and you survived! She survived!
Thank you 💜
Ugh..the trials life gives us but the strength that keeps you going. Celebrate every day. 💜

I can relate to this. My baby brother underwent a brain surgery last summer and it was a nightmare for all of us. Thank God he's fit and fine now!
my heart fell apart when rendering the flashback where she said her condition got worst
It been a fast recovery for You Delilah . I know the scared and fear of going in to surgery, I can't imagine Brain Surgery especially when Delilah is 4 years old
