C/K is a series of trucks that were manufactured by General Motors from the 1960 to 2002 model years. Marketed by both the Chevrolet and GMC divisions, the C/K series encompassed a wide range of vehicles. While most commonly associated with pickup trucks, the model line also included chassis-cab trucks and medium-duty trucks and served as the basis for GM full-size SUVs. Through its entire production, the model line competed directly against the Ford F-Series and the Dodge D series (later the Dodge Ram pickup).
Used for both the model branding and the internal model code, "C" denoted two-wheel drive; "K" denoted four-wheel drive. Four generations of the model line were produced, including the second-generation "Action Line" and third-generation "Rounded Line" vehicles. GMC marketed its version of the fourth-generation C/K pickup truck under a singular GMC Sierra nameplate. The C/K was manufactured for South America by General Motors Brazil, who produced variants of the model line for Brazil, Argentina, and Chile.
For 1990, GM ended production of medium-duty C/K trucks, replacing them with the Chevrolet Kodiak/GMC TopKick. For 1999, the C/K was replaced with the Chevrolet Silverado; in line with the GMC Sierra, Chevrolet consolidated its full-size pickup trucks under a singular nameplate. Initially marketed with its successor, the final C/K pickup trucks were produced after the 2000 model year. From 2001 to 2002, the final vehicles of the C/K model line were heavy-duty chassis cab trucks.
This generation marks the debut of the Chevrolet Cheyenne and GMC Sierra nameplates; introduced in 1971 and 1972, respectively, General Motors still uses both nameplates for full-size pickups in current production. The Action-Line pickup also served as the basis of ancestors of modern full-size SUVs, including the Chevrolet K5 Blazer, an open-body off-road vehicle, and the Chevrolet Suburban truck-based station wagon.
Coca-Cola, or Coke, is a carbonated soft drink manufactured by The Coca-Cola Company. Originally marketed as a temperance drink and intended as a patent medicine, it was invented in the late 19th century by John Stith Pemberton and was bought out by businessman Asa Griggs Candler, whose marketing tactics led Coca-Cola to its dominance of the world soft-drink market throughout the 20th century.[1] The drink's name refers to two of its original ingredients: coca leaves, and kola nuts (a source of caffeine). The current formula of Coca-Cola remains a trade secret; however, a variety of reported recipes and experimental recreations have been published.
The Coca-Cola Company produces concentrate, which is then sold to licensed Coca-Cola bottlers throughout the world. The bottlers, who hold exclusive territory contracts with the company, produce the finished product in cans and bottles from the concentrate, in combination with filtered water and sweeteners. A typical 12-US-fluid-ounce (350 ml) can contains 38 grams (1.3 oz) of sugar (usually in the form of high-fructose corn syrup). The bottlers then sell, distribute, and merchandise Coca-Cola to retail stores, restaurants, and vending machines throughout the world. The Coca-Cola Company also sells concentrate for soda fountains of major restaurants and foodservice distributors.
The Coca-Cola Company has on occasion introduced other cola drinks under the Coke name. The most common of these is Diet Coke, along with others including Caffeine-Free Coca-Cola, Diet Coke Caffeine-Free, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola Cherry, Coca-Cola Vanilla, and special versions with lemon, lime, and coffee. Coca-Cola was called Coca-Cola Classic from July 1985 to 2009, to distinguish it from "New Coke".
I spent a lot of time and effort trying to get my models to be "perfect" in all ways. From a flawless paint job to making sure every piece was in its proper place. Naturally, my models came out like a disaster. But since watching your videos, I've learned that it's okay to be less than perfect. To grab a paintbrush instead of the airbrush to lay down a simple coat of paint and not to obsess over every single detail. I recently finished a 34 Ford Pickup and when I attached the window frame to the cab I ended up with a huge gap. I looked at it and rather than panicking I grabbed some plastic filler, did some filing, painted on a few coats of paint, added some rust effects and it looked like a worn truck that had some repair work done to some body damage. I've gotten much praise for the entire model and no one cared about the original gap in the window frame. So thanks a lot for the encouragement and please keep up the fantastic work.
You have the steady hands of a surgeon sir. Seeing you do that side trim in the molotow is a thing of beauty.
Thanks bud!
I was nervous as hell watching him do that!
@@abledrummer tell me about it and yet, stellar results. 😅😅😅
Used - not abused. Weathering that "sells" the look of reality. And that Coke Machine - I agree, nicest style they ever made. Thanks again for sharing...
Thanks a lot!
Man oh man, I have to get one of these. About thirty years ago I bought a 70 Chevy C model from a used car dealer- it had been Frankesteined with a bigger motor, transmission, and radiator, the wrong rear end (with street slicks!) and so forth. It was a hell of a great work truck once I figured out how to keep my foot out of the Holley 4 bbl someone had stuck on it.
Chevy didn't change much on their trucks between 70 and 72 so I can make a replica of that truck. I really miss it. Thanks for the memory.
Using your methods has taught me a better way to do things and brought the joy of modeling back! Thanks from a fellow Badger!
Great to hear!
I am a huge model builder I love this channel it is the best one on youtube
Well thank you very much!
You know Chris, thanks for keeping these videos (ALL) fun!
Always showing us how to make our builds realistic looking,
while at the same time making it fun. I always appreciate you
saying "build for YOU" in your videos. Cause after all, that's
how it should be!
Glad you like them!
Best RUclips channel for modelers! I am in the hobby for over 40 years .I always loved american cars and model kits from the 70s on when i was a kid. Best wishes from Germany! Michael
Thanks a lot!
Remember when those coke machines were everywhere, growing up in the 70s,truck and machine.Very nice build.
Thanks Larry!
Nice job with the weathering. You’ve got to love Round 2 for bringing these kits back.
You got that right!
Great build Chris. The weathering and Coke machine look terrific. Very realistic.
I like that you showed what colors you used. Nice to have a reference appreciate it ! I just picked this up at ollies, had to come re watch this see how you did yours, im gonna do stock, love your content as always ! Thanks. Happy modeling
Chris, My dad owned a '72 Chevy truck, and it was fun to drive Nice build.
Thanks for watching!
That's a purty truck right there! Great job as usual!
Thanks 👍
Love them old Chevy trucks! I am particularly impressed with the Coke machine how AWESOME it looks. Much respect from ND
!
Thanks bud!
I have a 71 C10 and have been looking and looking ,but no luck. When I came across this, I knew it would be perfect to make into a '71 and I can actually find them around still. Great video and great techniques.
Glad I could help!
Another great build! I love all the Coke models. The vending machines are great! I happen to work for Coke in the vending division!
Sweet!
Thanks. Great review and build. Built this kit many times over the years. Very happy to see it released again. Peace
Thanks bud!
That was pretty cool the way you got the faded and rust look. I didn’t know about all those things so on my last old looking vehicle that I made I used black primer under the red paint and then when I sand it off the red it mixed with the black and came out, looking like rust and faded red.
Watching your video here gave me the idea of getting this truck, or two, the racers wedge truck, and the Coke Charger and have the racers wedge done up as a Coke truck and have the Coke Charger on it. If I get two of these pickups, possibly have the pickup on the back of the racers wedge as well.
drag truck 'farmtruck'' is 72 chevy
Exactly Saltie, building trucks are so much fun and you can do so much with them!
Enjoy!
Chris - you keep on proving that the "ancient" annual quasi promo kits have so much potential - 'way beyond anything most of us from that era would believe possible with good, clean building and well-honed paint application....
Thanks Kevin!
Good vid Chris, the Coke machine in the kit is a nice extra! 👍👍👍
Thanks bud!
Happy Guys Workshop, Americans modeler!
Another great kit, another great video! Been watching for just over a year now and always enjoy your enthusiasm and talent .
Much appreciated!
I can’t imagine building two models a week. Right now I’m building the International Payhauler dump truck and that model is massive and somewhat difficult and I made my front axle so it would steer and what a joy that was, not.
Thank you so much for such inspiring videos!!!.... Makes my day just watching you do your magic...
You are so welcome!
Looking great as usual Chris
Thank you! Cheers!
Good steady hand I wish mine were. I did notice a run in the side of the coke machine though. I love the way you show how you got the effects. Great learning tool for young and old.
Lets get the young kids off the internet and back to building models. Who knows where it might lead them.
Thanks for making sure to point out where you think you saw a mistake...
@@hpiguy I appreciate your videos and look forward to them all. They are full of great information and tips. It's nice to see a model built before one actually buys it.
As far as the question about a run, have a look at 31.00 - 31;18. Hay runs happen to us all and its no big deal. perhaps it is a mould flaw. Who cares. I have and will continue to subscribe and look forward to your next video!
Awesome job as usual! That coke machine is screaming to have a light inside! Hmmm. Guts from a flashlight could make that work. Plenty of room inside of it for a battery box. Slide switch on the back. Yeah! I know you could pull it off! Great job again! Your videos are always fun to watch!
Thanks Bruno!
Coke machine looks sweet!!! It legitimately looks like a 70s vending machine. Nice job as always 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽
Thanks bud!
Definitely another nice job Chris. Keep up the great work and continue to inspire.
Thanks, will do!
Nice build love wish round 2 would get rid of this coke crap yours looks great as always
Thanks.
And remember, you are not required to use the Coke decals. Just build it and have fun your way.
Well yeah - likely its Coke paying $$$ to R2 for product placement = more kits for us in long run - maybe no "racer's Wedge" with Coke funding this issue???
All of the other commenters have said it all and I really have nothing to add except that I like the Stephen Hawking quote. Thanks so much for sharing your great builds and techniques.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow!! You knocked it out of the park on this one ! Beautiful coke machine as well , the resin kits for those are super expensive so this is really cool ! 😊
Thanks Shane!
Such a sweet build. I literally cringed when you started adding that craft paint for fading the red because you had already finished the chrome trim, I was amazed at your technique. I have a Coca-Cola sign and selector pads from a 70s Coke machine hanging in my storage building. Nice one!!!
Thanks man!
Great job dude!
A dolly and strap would "cinch" the look!
Thanks bud!
FANTASTIC bud, absolutely! Love those late 60’s and early 70’s Chevrolet and GMC pickem ups! I had a 68,69,70 and a 71 not all at the same time but never the less. Loved them all! But good deal brother man!
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@hpiguy - Right on bud, always!
Another fantastic build. Thanks for sharing
No problem 👍
I built the same truck a few years back from an older issue kit. I put a big block engine in it.
Nice build 😅.... Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 🎊😅
Really like the finish & the coke machine is outstanding
Thanks bud!
Chris once again, great job! Loved the interior detailing, loved the underbody work.....just great man
Thanks a bunch!
This will go great next to my mobius 71 Ford Ranger. Great job sir!
Enjoy!
Awesome build it looks excellent nice job,and everyone should order from Model Roundup I love that place order a lot from them.
Thank you very much!
another excellent build , keep them coming !
Thanks, will do!
Looks great as always. Would really love to see a long bed squarebody. May have to go knocking on some doors at Round 2.
That would be cool!
I'd love one too but I don't think there ever was a model of a long bed. It sure would make things easier trying to replicate my real ones. So far, I've replicated 2 of them by buying 4 short beds and cutting the chassis and bed from one (for each replica) and a whole lot of work to put everything back together. What I'd REALLY like to see is a square body dually!
Very cool! One of the first civilian wreckers I ever drove was an early '70's GM or Chevy tow truck!!
Very cool!
That model would be super cool to make into a SHORT BED...!!
I found a short bed conversion on EBay.
Popular era to early 70s Chevy truck kool model indeed I'm waiting for either Revell or Monogram to reissue a 90s-early 00s GM model kit truck.
Really nice job, I love your Coke cars!
Thanks for joining the fun!
Very nice great build!
Thank you! Cheers!
Another great build/review! First time I had my copy before the review. 😆 Turned out wonderful! 😎👍🏾
Awesome! Thank you!
Beautiful build as always 🏁🏁
Glad you like it!
Nice build i wish amt would make better frames and interior tubs for their kits but still a nice kit
Thanks bud!
I'm currently doing this very kit, but not with all the Coke logos...I'm making a scale model of my 1969 C10, the only real exterior difference is the grille & the front turn signals are in the bumper...other than that, it's the same...just finished painting & assembling the engine yesterday...I want more detail in the engine though...I want to add plug wires & heater hoses & wiring harness & such...I think I'll put some led headlights & taillights in it too...I'm gonna make the Coke machine though...it's there, so why not? Lol!
Love these coke vehicles you do.
Too many kits and not enough time , another great build Chris
Always! Thanks!
Nice build ! I cant wait to get a couple of these i still havent built mu racers wedge yet
Thanks bud!
Another winner Chris! Love the paint fadeing on this presentation!
Thanks again!
Great time watching thanks definitely subscribed ✌️
Welcome!
Nice video & excellent build. Also cool channel. I subscribed. I’m going to start branching out into car kits and can learn much from you. Thanks.
Awesome! Thank you!
Aside from long-bed and "Racer's Wedge" this kit came with a wrecker body - later reissued as "Cooter's" from TV "Dukes" and probably best on-frame RV/camper - Would be awesome to see both these re-relaesed too - especially if at all possible to "knock it out of the park" with a better too/rendering of wrecker boom + associated gear - especially with realistic 1-ton wheels & duallies! Pretty pleeese R2!
I would love to see Cooters Tow Truck again, and anything else they want to base off this cab. Totally agree.
Beautiful, I would love to get one of this AMT kits, but they are veeery rare in Germany. And importing is not an option because the custom and shipping fees wuld be morexpensive then the kit itself. So your videos are like a substitute to me. Keep up the good work. Christoph :-)
Thank you!
Great job 👍 you make it all so neat. I wonder why nobody ever does Pepsi
Good question!
Maybe Pepsi won't pay Coke $$$???
Another one for my list. Great build. But your costing me a butt load of money. LOL
Thanks bud!
Looks pretty good Chris. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching
I've got too many in the fire. Before I get any new models.
might pick me one up soon!
Nice job. I'd like to see them do a two ton flat bed.
Great suggestion!
Just imagine how big a seller this would be as a shortbed
sweet'n and beautiful. Your modeling is awesome Chris . Thanks for sharing your techniques my Sensei.
Thank you very much!
Very nice kit well-done
Thanks bud!
Amazing how.the 72 Chevy pickup truck is in another version after they just brought it out as it was back in 1972, what will they do next
What number paint brush you use most of time for your detailing?
Another huge hit Chris super exceptional job once again
Thanks again!
Awesome review and build as usual, Chris! Quick question for you: how would you go about detailing the molded-in raised scripts on model car/truck bodies without getting paint all over the place, assuming no script decals came with the kit, such as older kits? Any tips or trucks you could share? Thanks, bud. 😄👍👌✌🇺🇸
Sharp silver pencil works.
Bare metal foil first, then painted, then lightly scuffed to remove just the paint on the letters
Silver gel pen lightly dragged across the surface points
Those are a few i've used depending on the kit.
@@hpiguy // Thank you, sir! 😄👍👌✌🇺🇸
I wanna do all the coke licensed kits
Enjoy them!
Nice build! Looks like a nicely detailed kit, but WHY mold it in red??
You'd have to ask AMT, I just build em up. :)
Man that's an absolutely gorgeous build
Glad you like it!
You mentioned using using Rust Ole-um primer, doesn't that soften, craze, melt the plastic? Which primer is it? Does it have a number?
If you watch the video, especially the painting sections, I show every single can I use lined up so that there is no mistake in what I'm using.
@@hpiguy Sorry about that, I did watch the rest of video after posting.
Super job as usual,mr steady hand
Thanks 👍
Nice model good-looking truck but not a fan of the one-piece frame and suspension I know it's done to save on cost but my opinion better quality detail and realism overall nicely done until the next
Thanks for watching!
How do you paint the chrome trim pieces? I have never painted a model doing my first now same truck. The trim is making me the most nervous.
You can watch more recent videos from the past couple years where I do much more on camera like trim, glass, etc.
Just check the home page, two full builds every single week. :)
Chris what would cause 2x paint to wrinkle
Impossible to tell by a comment. Strip it and start over to see if it happens again.
What kind of paint booth do you have?
Could you do the Chevy Monza 2+2 if you haven't yet?
I'm not even aware of that kit, but if the maker sends it it will get built.
Do you display all your models and if so do you cover them in some kind of protective covering?
I do not have the room to display them all, no.
How long is the drying time between the layers from primer to finished varnish?
I dry everything off with a dehydrator. I can go from wet to dry in 20 minutes
What kind of tape do you use to mask off models? Painters tape ok?
I like Washi tape from craft stores.
Wow, those rims look perfect! Did you flat coat them too?
Yes I did, it's all on video in the painting section.
With that idea you put in the head of some of the younger audience, I don't think moms won't care. :P LMAO!
LOL
I can't seem to keep my Sharpe "wet" so to speak to go over the painted surface. It seems to want to hit or miss and I have to keep going over that surface. Product error or operator error? I've bought 2 or 3 of these trying to get it right.
I store them tip down for one.
Also, pressing on them makes the ink stop. Takes a very light pressure to get them to lay down a nice coat.
Also make sure that the paint is fully cured.
Damn can't you build a non weathered... Only pulling your leg... Another awesome build mate, another one for the haters to wet their pants over.
LOLOL, and wet them they sure seem to do!!
Oh well, we'll keep having fun and they can keep being angry. Thanks Gary!
Where can you get that crackle stuff in that size I know my sisters used to have it in small amounts for there nails
Google will tell you where to find it near you.
How did you use the stickers
I've done dozens of videos on how to apply waterslide decals.
See my most recent video on the Napa Camaro.
They did a great job except the tail lights. They don't look accurate at all. (The model mold itself) Great job! I had a '72, My brother in law said those trucks must have come with primer spots! Mine was several colors for quite a while until I painted it white.
Thanks for the info!
I have 2 of them
Very legit! 👍🏻
Glad you think so!
Another one for the coke addiction you have lol
Ever considor pepsi
If they got the Pepsi license I would LOVE to build every kit.
Someone in my family loves Pepsi stuff and I'd give every model to them for display. :)
@@hpiguy I know I say it everytime you do a come kit. Appologies. But yeah, pepsi or Sprite pop would be cool
Sweet another video!
Hope you enjoyed it!
