When I worked for an operator I moved games around from location to location and for a little while I had a Goldie in my house, those are some of the best cabarets ever, how they placed the monitor make it a really nice little design. Thanks for watching A10Pilot!
@@LyonsArcade Still looking for a bashed up millipede cabaret. If I haven't found one by summer 2022, I am building my own replica. I have high resolution scans of the artwork. If someone can point me to the original (or remade) PCB design in digital form, please do. Until then , a raspberry Pi with MAME will have to do.
My mom probably played on this back when she was my age (I’m 23 for reference.). She loved Ms. Pac-Man and Donkey Kong. I recently bought an Arcade1UP Namco Legacy Pac-Man cabinet and now I’m currently saving up to purchase a Ms. Pac-Man one for my mom. Even though she doesn’t play video games anymore, I know she’d love a Ms. Pac-Man recreational cabinet since she used to play the crap out of it back when it first came out.
I remember the very first time we heard about and saw a Ms pacman...we couldn't pedal our bmx bikes fast enough to the ice cream shop..once there we opened the door and there she sat in all her glory! Best days ever!!!
I'll bet that was something awesome. By the way I didn't mention it in the video, but I have a Ms. Pac-Man in my living room, absolutely one of my favorite games ever.
All those Atari 2600 cartridges reminded me of when I was 10 or 11 and got Chopper Command. My friend Clay and I each got 20,000 points and took pictures with my Polaroid camera and sent the photos to Atari and we each got a Chopper Command patch. It was the coolest thing ever. Thanks for the video.
Growing up I remember playing Donkey Kong, Donkey Kon Jr., Galaga, Pac-Man, and Ms. Pac-Man Cabarets. As for the Ms. Pac-Man Speed Up chip, I have always preferred it. A perfect cherry level is a total of 14,600. And a perfect strawberry level is 14,800 because the strawberries are 100 points higher. My best score is a little over 200k. That is something that I could never do with a regular speed cabinet.
Thanks SyntaxDelta we appreciate it, i'm not that good but it's fun to play, I don't like playing with the patterns because i'm just trying to have fun not necessarily set a world record, haha
Bloody hell, I've been watching you for a little while now and I must say that was some of the most full on nail-biting stuff I've seen, it's actualy not a bad spectator sport, well done my old fruit !.....cheers.
Bet you would really kick butt going back to normal speed after that crack induced paranormal experience! Thanks for the flashback to 1983 for me, I didn't play a lot of the PAC series, but, could only get to the banana level a couple times. Your were pretty good when not being too greedy..... ;)
It is really difficult to match that original wood grain. I always loved the unique shape of the Ms. Pac-Man Cabaret. Its cool Midway made it look so different from the Pac-Man Cabaret. That machine looks great! I love how those original Midway joysticks were built like a WWII fighter plane; tougher than nails! No replacement for that original awesomeness. I remember when the "speed chip" came out. What a mind blower that was. Personally, I like to play Ms. Pac-Man and Jr. Pac-Man with the speed chip. From watching your game play I will bet the PCB in that machine has the difficulty increased. There is a little known, mostly forgotten PCB modification that makes the game progress quicker. It actually will start on the cherry board at the same speed as the normal difficulty game starts the orange board. There is a little solder pad on the lower corner of the dip switch. (below the 8) , between the dip switches and the 2200 uf 25v capacitor. If that pad is shorted together, (yours is) the game starts at level three speed! Lawn mower man has a great picture of it. Totally awesome game. Thanks for sharing it with us Ron!
I'm not usually this fussy but I definitely noticed something when you were turning up the sound and for some reason the sound of Miss Pac-Man moving is also carrying some interesting distortion.
Thanks for the great video. You’re better at Ms. Pac Man than you think. I think you would play even better if the cabinet was leveled … especially at those high speeds and cornering. It was rocking quite a bit and you lost a few milliseconds of reaction time! 😁
And if you notice the speed chip affects the ghosts being blue.. They turn back more quickly then being a normal game.. That's why I'm not a fan of the speed chip because affects the whole game..
I couldn't tell if that was true or not, at first they give you more time but then it's less as the boards go on, I think that's normal but i'm not sure if it makes it faster or not...
Hey off subject of this video but I saw the video you did around a year ago with the Hollywood claw machine . You were saying you had a second one that you were going to do a fix it video on and I was wondering if that was coming anytime in the near future. I’m about to purchase one that is complete but non working . I got it for 75 bucks and figured that was a great deal since everything is there but just not working. Long story short I’d love to see that video because I know nothing about fixing them and want to learn . Plus I’m trying my hand at routing some for an extra passive income so this repair project will be my first one to see a location after I’m finished. Love all the videos
Sunday I went to the movies and seen the new Clint Eastwood movie in the lobby they had a Miss Pac-Man and I wondered how many years did they make those machines and are they still there original after all these years
They've released them a few times over the years so it may have been one of the re-releases, but it's completely possible an original one is still up and running if they have taken the time to have it repaired, they're very reliable machines. Thank you for watching Michael!
really cool! i’d love to own a ms. pac-man cabinet one day since it is my favorite arcade game and i’m a collector of pac-man merchandise. honestly i like the look of this cabinet compared to the original larger blue one.
I literally just finished fixing a Ms Pacman Cabaret last night!!! What are the chances of two Ms Pacman Cabaret games that got fixed in South Carolina this week???
I've seen over the years they have different speed chips, some are faster than others I think.... I'm not 100% on the history of them but as I understand it, Bally only made pinball machines and Midway only made arcade games wayyyyy back in the day, I think the first one was "Winner" (we actually had a video on that one) and Bally ended up buying Midway, so by the time the video arcade games were hitting their Hay Day in the early 80's the companies were one. They stayed that way until the late 80's when Bally/Midway bought Williams too. So you ended up with pretty much the best three arcade/pinball companies were all the same company. They then bought Atari! So Bally, Midway, Williams, and Atari were all the same company around 1998.
And one more thing.. The ghost AI so random on Ms Pac-Man compared to Pac-Man there's really no set record high score in twin galaxies. Even Billy Mitchell doesn't have it or achieved it.
Love your videos.. and, I think you're pretty good at MS. pacman! :-) One comment about the fast version - I think if your reflexes are good, the fast version is MUCH easier, because unlike the hardware fast switch, the fast ROM version does NOT make the ghosts faster, so you have a good speed advantage. I do much worse on the original version (I have a multi-game with both versions of original and MS pac...) .. One question: What is the historical difference between this caberet cabinet version and the one featured in your video a few weeks ago where the light is angled upward? They both appear to be original, and I recognize both from the old days, but can't remember if one was an older version of the caberet cabinet
The other one was the Pac-Man cabaret cabinet, this particular one is the Ms. Pac-Man cabaret cabinet, it's a slightly different design. Thank you for watching Steve!!!
Agree that the fast version of the game is much easier. Way back in the day, I remember finding one of the fast machines in a hotel game room during a family vacation, and I was really pumped that I was able to get the junior cutscene and reach the fourth board for the first time. On the fast machines, you can really take advantage of the tunnels. Lure the ghosts, and then when they pass through the tunnel, use Ms. Pac-Man's speed to clear big chunks of the board. On the pear/banana boards, this works really well - clear dots on one side of the board, draw the ghosts, slip through the tunnel and do the same on the other side. An added bonus is that since that board has only one tunnel, you will then be very close when the fruits appear.
Joe, if you eat all 4 monsters for 200-400-800-1600 and then quickly eat the next pill, does it keep doubling 3200-6400 etc etc, or start at 200 again? Fun fact: Pacman 3D keeps doubling but tops off at 7650 per monster.
Not usually but it depends on the game, the multigames we usually put LCD's in but if it's an original most people prefer the CRT since it's basically an antique at this point. The hardest part of adding an LCD is making the mount look right, where it has a nice bezel around it, usually you can see a frame and it just doesn't look trim. Thanks for watching Matt!!!
Usually people call us with games for sale, or we buy them at an auction. Everybody knows we repair and sell games so if they have one for sale they call us. Thanks for watching Nick!!!
Ya you don't know how to play , Ya right .!. I'm lucky enough to get through the 2nd level, but when Miss Pac-man is on speed no way. Give me DEFENDER any day, no maze no problem .LOL
I take it that original Ms Pac-Man is a heavy b st rd to haul compared to the arcade 1up version because of all those solid metal parts and the CRT monitor.
I adore cabarets! One of my prized possessions is my Neo Geo goldie cabaret.
