    After watching numerous videos about Versatube buildings, it's become clear to me that they are manufacturing the frame and subcontracting the metal sheeting and other components.
    I think I'll look for something else, thanks for the information and sharing the struggle with us all 👍👍

    Thanks for taking the time to share all this information! I am excited about buying a versatube building but not looking forward to putting it up. This video is a huge help!!!

    Sounds like there is ALOT of room for improvement on Versatubes part 🤔.
    Thanks for sharing your experience, I think I'll look for something else.

      I personally ended up purchasing the system only because every other system that was available locally would take 10-12 weeks to get. I was ready to purchase after putting it off for over a year due to the price of metal. This building was $2k more at the height of metal prices. The building does serve its purpose and I haven't had any issues with it since putting it up. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Good video! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and experiences with this project. At first glance - the Versa Tube marketing department has the newbie DIYer thinking it can be completed with little to no experience….in a short amount of time at lower cost than traditional building methods.

      Thanks for watching and commenting. Their tv commercial definitely makes it seem like it's a quick and easy job. Also, they don't show or mention all the other work that goes in to putting the building up... weather, prepping ground, soil testing, foundation, stem walls, footings, concrete, rebar, vapor barrier, leveling, sheeting ledge/no ledge and the list goes on. Not to mention, how many you have to help you. I pretty much did all the work by myself. I have more videos to post, but it is going to take a while. All in all I have a completed building that is leak free, looks good, and serves its purpose. It has made my life easier. I used to have to pull everything out of a shed to work, then put it all back at the end of the day.

    how the heck did you keep this dry while constructing over multiple weeks??

    • @RoCDIY
      @RoCDIY  16 дней назад

      Thanks for watching and commenting. There's no need to cover unless you absolutely want to. It's galvanized steel and aluminum. Everything was typically dry within a couple of hours of sunrise. I did have some large tarps with ropes on them that I could use when I needed to, but they get shredded pretty fast. The only time I had issues is when I had to store the pallets of materials on the ground through winter. The rain was causing dirt to splash up and sit on the metal, but it was all surface rust and dirt. Came right off.

    I finished a 24x30 last year. I bought from Charlie Chase at canadiana carports. He had everything marked and easy to tell what everything was. I moved and will now be putting up a 30x40. It will be from the same place. At least where I live no one even came close in price. I'm sure some other suppliers are better but not for 40% more roughly in price. Thanks for the info. Did the condensation barrier help? I didn't do that on my previous one as I was going to spray foam the whole building. I was considering doing wood strapping instead of the hat channels to give it a thermal break.

      I wish all of the pieces on mine were marked beforehand. It would have saved me quite a few hours.
      The condensation barrier works great. No issues so far. It's a good idea to get it as flat as possible before putting panels on. Double sided tape works great for tacking it down. I didn't like the open seams when I was done so I went back up and ran some hybrid seam tape. Looks much better and probably more efficient.
      I looked at DIYing spray foam, but it was pretty expensive. Having it done would have been even more expensive. I did spray foam all of the corners with Great Stuff. Took a whole lot more cans than expected. I did this because we have issues with stink bugs and Japanese Lady Beetles. They infest everything in Sep/Oct, then hide out for the winter.

      @RoCDIY cool thanks. Yeah spray foam done by someone was about 70% of my building cost. I'm debating on what you did and me doing the spry foam as we sell it but still not cheap. My new house has the same beetle and that clone lady bug as well.

    The commercials make it out to be an easy and inexpensive building to assemble. What are your thoughts?

    • @RoCDIY
      @RoCDIY  7 месяцев назад +1

      The building is definitely not easy to assemble unless you specifically put this type of building up all of the time. Assembling by yourself makes it a little more difficult too. This is not an inexpensive building, but I guess it depends on how deep your pockets are. Mine aren't deep.

    anyone know a competitor to versa-tube that has just a little better quality material close to the same price point?

    • @RoCDIY
      @RoCDIY  7 месяцев назад +2

      Believe it or not I really looked in to this before I purchased. I even waited 1 1/2 years to purchase due to skyrocketing metal prices. There are definitely many things to consider. Most importantly the final price. What's included? Shipping and handling? What's needed that you will not have? Shipping time? Extra costs at delivery site? I tried to go with a local company, but the turn around time was six to eight months.
      I am looking to put up a carport in the future, but it will not be Versatube.

      You don't know what you don't know when you buy it. Definitely learned a lot. Not something I'll buy again.

    They ( versa tube ) REALLY doesn't have their own videos. Of assembly . Lean-to.
    Garage assembly. 🤷🤷🤷

      I think you may be right. I believe they post links to other people's videos on their website. They do have Versatube RUclips stories... about purchase experience, but not the build.
