from a fellow metol detectorist: If you find a hoard of Archeological importance like you did here, immediately contact Archeologists and DO NOT dig it out yourself. You risk scratching them and we arent even talking about the find context being destroyed (sorry for poor English). Here in germany if you find something like this you have to contact Archeologists to do an emergency excevation, because of course, there is a Reason why it was put there and how. Anyhow, Great find!!!!
Hi lefty, unfortunately we don't all have a emergency excavation here in the UK ,well certainly not in Wales lol ,we make a positive judgement wether to remove the items carefully and methodically and of course record the process so the archeology dept can see themselves the whole procedure. obviously we do this for security reasons because once a hoard is discovered it often becomes a magnet to hawkers ect, anyway thanks lefty for watching and commenting,ATB Matty 👍
Wow a great day got be one your best days detecting with that hoard of axe's that's definitely a bucket Lister of mine. So lucky. Have a fantastic weekend mate. 🙂👍
Thanks Philip buddy ,no lol I got the event organiser to come a collect them as it was way to many to carry and didn't want to risk damaging any of the 21 artifacts, I carried on digging for the rest of the day then lol 😆 ATB Matty 👍

@@mattysmetaldetectingsouthwales Hi I am new to the hobby, what happens next now that you have declared? and I read you only have to declare if over 300yrs old and its made up of 10% or more precious metals or are these? Sorry for all the questions I am researching and making sure I am familiar with all the laws. Amazing finds by the way, that must have been some buzz!

I have 3 people witnessed the exciting discovery of these artifacts being unearthed one by one, but you right it must of been planted over 3000 years ago, thank you for your Comment

Yes all reported and handed in to the museum as a donation, this hoard was one of the largest BA hoards ever found in South wales 😄 ATB Matty 👍
