- UNSC Staff Sergeant Marcus Davis and his Marines are deployed on the Visegrad relay station's vicinity after receiving reports of Insurrectionist activity in the region.
The situation for the UNSC personnel turns for the worse....as the genocidal Covenant makes landfall on the planet and proceeds to attack all human forces present.

I was skeptical a squad battle tactics game in the Halo universe could work but bro this is sick. If I was at 343 and got shown this demo I'd be inclined towards a greenlight.

Dang there are a few times where the aggressiveness of your AI squad mates surprised me. Liked the way the Marine AI takes initiative, moves and attacks as a squad rather than splitting up into chaos, or only following the player directly. This looks good. the Pelican could use a little work though lmao

The UNSC Soldiers on Reach are part of the Army, Also. Just a little bummed it's in third person. Howerwise looks fantastic and can't wait to see what comes next.
I mean if it were on first person this would be little more than a slightly modified Reach campaign with no shields
Third person gives you also some environmental awareness to compensate for your diminished health and lack of shields.

Reach should have had a mission or two before winter contingency where you fight insurrectionists which would lead into the build up of the covenant arriving on reach.
It should have been more gradual in the mission pacing, this way it can tie into some of the lore regarding insurrectionists. I suspect something like that was planned before any game development started. I bet Microsoft got cold feet about the idea of having Spartan's be used to take out other Human forces. Bungie should have had us fighting them for at least one or two missions to really showcase the dark reality behind the spartan program because the insurrectionists were referenced quit a bit in the first mission. Also I think they were referred to as rebels, its been a while.
it makes sense for US Halo fans but for Microsoft/Bungie adding human enemies will have most certainly drawn some unwanted attention or even backlash since Reach was already controversial as it was when it came out.
Halo in the public eye was a staple for fighting genocidal aliens and space zombies/ancient robots. Human enemies will have spawned detractors condemning the series for "mimicking COD" and Microsoft/Bungie didnt want that.
that's just sadly how it was back then...and still today to a degree.

Oh it was, competetive players were losing their mind over weapon bloom and armor abilities on one side and you had lore fanatics ripping apart Bungie for retconning the Fall of Reach book with the campaign.

Fighting the flood as a marine would turn this into horror. On halo 3 I always remember trying to save everyone I could only to watch em turn into flood themselves, was truly heart breaking for me as a kid and the flood always scared me 🥲 was the mission after the scarab IIRC

Imagine if Bungie had stuck around for one more Halo game and they'd made a Marine campaign in the Reach engine the same way they made ODST in Halo 3's.
Man...that would have been a god-send entry into the franchise or closure depending on how you look at it.
You get to see the Fall of Reach from the normal army grunt's perspective and perhaps show some backstory about Noble Team through cameos/joint missions.
The game ending on the planet's glassing and a memorial to the fallen in the future.
I want to feel scared of the covenant again. 343 turned the Spartans into the power rangers.
I actually ran to my computer to download MCC again nine minutes in.

I think it's strange to see marines here in the place of army troopers. Looks like a fun mod, though.
I mean joint operations between branches are common in real life, why wouldn't they be on the Halo universe as well?
@@pvt.jonwallace Of course it happens in Halo. Specifically during the battle for Visegrad, the marines were not deployed in the area of the communications relay. During Winter Contingency, there's only army troopers in full UCP uniform and kit. In the Reach campaign, the marines are only encountered in the shipyard which The Pillar of Autumn was docked at. They stick out with their full MARPAT uniform and kit. Operation Uppercut, another good example, was a joint operation of the UNSC Army, Air Force, and Navy. Troopers were used to board the ship, though. That indicates the marines available were already fully assigned to the intense naval battle happening simultaneously with Fall of Reach and Halo: Reach's campaign.
More compelling than anything 343i has done

We deserved a third person cover shooter for ODST. And a squad based infantry game within Halo.
The Spartans are played out. The universe needs to delve into the dirt.
The community knows it, this mods attention has certainly solidified my stance on a Battlefield-esque Halo game
If this is what the unaugmented of the species can do, even the Precursors should undust themselves and leave the galaxy.
Keep in mind the Covenant garrison we fought here were probably understaffed and caught off-guard by the attack
Given the covenant could care less about unit rotation and their survival these guys were prob worn down after taking the Sabre facility...

@@devilpistons1269 well in the books the UNSC's infantry was more than capable of handling covenant forces head on on even terms.
as for the sabre's facility's takeover....the planet's invasion is fully underway at this point, there's no UNSC response to it because everyone is busy fighting elsewhere.

@@devilpistons1269 yeah, on Halo the Flood some ODSTs managed to kick the covenant off a hill that they turned into alpha base and then raided the pillar of Autumn on their own for supplies while chief was doing the campaign
granted this happened in a Halo ring and not on a normal planet were they would have been glassed into oblivion instead.

I think its cause marines were the main defebding force on reach and troopers came in with the first attack wave
Actually its the other way around, the UNSC Army is the branch tasked with defending the planet they're established on long enough for the Navy and the Marines to arrive and assist. Because their size is relative to the planet's population/strategic importance most colonies had a minor garrison as protection and were easily destroyed by the Covenant.
Because of its status as humanity's "fortress among the stars" Reach had by far the biggest UNSC Army garrison next to Earth itself. The reason they don't appear in other Halo games as much is that canonically you're fighting on alien worlds /spaceships most of the time, areas in which the UNSC Navy and by extension the UNSC Marine Corps are HEAVILY involved.

also how did you get ai to follow you and also get in vehicles? I tried a ai forge mod but it kinda sucked because their ai couldn't get in vehicles and the creator said its impossible to do, so I see they don't know what they're talking about, unless this is scripted?

This from first person would be awesome. Playing with friends as a squad would show off customized armor up close instead of emphasizing you are a soldier by showing third person. Multiplayer could benefit from that too.
Personally a slower paced tactical horror would be cool as a normal human. The mentality would be immensely different than a Spartans as a Spartan can run faster, jump higher, and shoot at godly speeds. The battleground is a Spartans playground and when normal humans see them they either know they are going to be saved or shot got so real inky a Spartan will survive. The tactics should be different. Look at all the animations and skins the canon devs made for those characters. Those should be more fleshed out like that. At least with each level emphasizing a different team with different gear for different purpose with further customizations to that.just so that eventually the player base could hope for an update including multiplayer and customizable gearsets for your marine or soldier, or just a civilian.
343 ruined Spartans for me. They went from being mysterious super soldiers. To being ODSTs with upgraded armour. Spartan 4s aren't Spartans, in my opinion... they are chatter boxes

I like the idea, but Mythic overhaul's enemies would stump marines easily without some drastic changes
@@pvt.jonwallace Agreed, a CE armored variant at the end missions, a buff to reach marines, additional stories like where you fight alongside Noble team, during their missions, and be in the pelican that gets shot down so you can be before lone wolf where you fight and die with several spartans, six included.
Either that or getting lucky, and being on the autumn, will do on both.

I have a unique request
Can you do a giant battle between regular marines and Elite ultras, like 50 ultras with their load outs vs 200 default marines with default assault rifle or DMR, shotgun load outs, for added effect make it a really small map with no kinda of hazards like falling off cliffs

I dislike the health regeneration. Also, do the marines still have the damage nerf? If they fought at full strength and with decent AI it would be much more worthwhile fighting alongside them. I want to feel like you need them to succeed, and every loss is a tragedy because of that.

No, those guys were Army. in the actual canon the Marine corps was never involved in the Visegrad relay incident.

how will it work in first person? you would basicly be a spartan without shields with how the movement would work, controlling a biped on the other hand is alot diffrent and you need to see what the character do and hot its positioned.
