It actually happens to singers especially after prolonged singing. When I used to sing alot this would happen often it just means you've over done things but usually your voice will return to normal after a few days. It's good for gaging your limits.
Thumbs up for having the balls to publish a rather imperfect performance to her fans. Deserves my full respect. We are all human beings. Nevertheless they could have put a slight reverb or delay on the channel, not forbidden while unplugged. This is standard even when the voice is performing optimally. No missunderstandings here, we all know she's a great and very accurate live singer.
This is my favorite performance of all time, because I know she's sick, or recovering from being sick. I know how it is to sing in that state. I love the imperfections of the singing compared to the regular song, the straining (even though, please, don't do this, let your voice fucking rest) just because I know she wants to put on a performance. I've been in the same state - I've gone to karaoke knowing I'd completely blow out my voice in its state. She still hits the notes, she just can't sustain or realize them, but you know they're there. I'm also open to someone hearing this and going "wtf, what is this", but as someone who has followed Paramore so long - this one means more to me than anything. I love them.
I just want to emphasize - please, do not sing while sick - it is NOT good for you. This is just me commenting on something after the fact - if Haley had asked me if she should have done this before this performance, I would have said "absolutely fucking not"

She wasn't forced to sing or anything, was she? People can't blame her (though I'm not saying that they are) because she was sick. But Hayley is such a wonderful singer, and this was an amazing performance.

She had laryngitis so it wasn’t best choice to be singing but at least she chose to do an acoustic version to take it easier on her throat cause she sings three octaves higher when she’s doing the song with all the instruments and effects

That sound engineer needs a raise. I don't know how but she was singing literally against oncoming wind and you didn't hear that at all.

You should keep in mind that people don't stay the same forever and i hope you know that. Im sure most peoples taste in music changes with time and age And in this case, the type of music that the artists create would heavily reflect their current personality/emotions.

Coming back to this specific version through the years more than 10 years and it’s still on my top 5 of every song performance :))
I love when she says "Why won't you show yourself?" and her voice breaks a little on the last note. Even when Hayley is sick, she's better than most singers.

This is still my favorite performance of this song after years of watching it. It sounds so much better tuned a half step down for some reason.

I'm 17 now but when I was 13/14 this band meant so much to me. Never got to see them live sadly. And sudenly last year I got a notification on google they where going to release a new album. Damn the feels.
@cdudeNYR well yeah many people do, but other people have also recognized josh and zack as well, and at least im proof of that :P i know as a drummer zack has inspired me, and the same goes for a few other friends of mine. but i agree with your opinion too, most people recognize her the most because of her voice and talent, and thats what most people hear when they listen to their music.

I love how her hood kept falling down throughout the video until she ended up having to hold it up at the end :3 Amazing song and she's such an amazing singer even with a horrendous cold she was able to pull off this song with it still sounding awesome. Josh and Taylor did an awesome job with the guitars aswell :)
