thank you for your efforts ,i am having a problem with selecting tangents ,it just selecting hey point only and key by key , i cannot select several keys together , any help please
i not sure how u do the squash and strech in graph editor by edit the point and so on cause u didnt show , i know to edit the scale but can u show how to do it graoh editor?hope u see my comment thanks
Hi, on a simple setup like this it makes sense to animate the scale values in Viewport. It's not a proper squash and stretch anyway, just a quick demo. In Maya you can't rotate the object freely if you play around with scale values. You'd need a separate node for squashing and another for rotating parented to it.
Are you selecting the tangents or key points? If you select key points it should work. Or you could skip that step and go directly to unlocking the tangent handles.
Hi there, im doing your tutorial but my graph editor has sharp right angled lines for the timeline, any idea how to make it so that it is a smooth curve?
SD Mattos Perhaps your tangent type is set to linear or even stepped? Select some of those keypoints in graph editor and go to tangent / spline. If this helps you can also change the default tangent type in animation preferences to "auto", flat or spline.
Don't just scale it for squash and stretch, you really should be rigging up a ball designed to squash stretch and roll, which all have variable pivot points (the ball squashes on the base of contact and rolls from the centre.) Using scale parameters is not the right way to go because this will affect your spacing. Also never animate geometry, you want to animate NURBS controllers. Animating purely on geometry is not how 3D animation is designed to work.
Totally. I give this exercise to students who have animated balls in 2D, pencil on paper. I want to keep the exercise as simple as possible, but someone always asks how they could add squach and stretch.
I created the squash and stretch by animating the scale values.
I'm taking an Animation Course and this is the first thing we have to do
Tell me about it.
@7:14 THAT explains those weird animation glitches I've always wondered about
Mystery of the Universe #1409 solved
Thank you so much! this is our exact assignment, helps a lot ~
GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR WHOLE FAMILY AND ALL YOUR DESCENDANTS.
No problem
Thank you man.
You helped me so much.
Cheers and stay safe
one more thing, the ball goes from top to bottom without any transitional movement, just jumpy, thanks for any help.
This video was really helpful. Thank you :)
cool video!:) you explain things very easy.. with with software do you record the videos so that all the keys youre pressing are showing on screen?
Great to hear! I think I made this in Camtasia. You can turn on keyboard actions and edit them.
thank you Teemu, you glorious man
thank you so much, this helped me a lot with my assignment!!!!!!!
Beautiful tutorial!
thank you very much, Because your movie clip show hot key...and slowly...i like it
Thank you so much! It helped me a lot!

when I delete the breakdown keys, like at 7:57 , it deletes what I did with them. Making them no longer slowdown at the top. How can I fix that?
No need to delete them if you are happy with the animation. I deleted the keys there to show another approach.
Thanks Man!! =D
Thanks very helpful
at 10min, i cant find the translate Z I only have X and Y

Please help, I can't make it so only selected tangents become linear, it makes all of them linear when I click that buton
