It's dumb that winners have to be identified to the public. I wouldn't want to be, have all sorts of people coming out of the woodwork
Real talk
true, imagine the winners dad coming back after getting milk after they find out they won the lottery
you don't have to be identified here in europe, lots of lottery winners remain private. America is just a weird place
Yea they're putting the winner's and their family's lives at risk by publicizing their identities.
Thankfully, not all American states make lottery winners’ identity public, just some. Many states allow you keep your identity hidden.
*this gives me flashbacks to the time a man won the lottery and when he was asked to reenact it he won again for some reason*
Ya he won hella money and then a car! I think it was in Australia!
@@malonebrown495 other way around bro
Heard about that and how tf did he do that
@@malonebrown495 A big lorry 🚚
Law of Attraction
An update: Eddie Tipton was actually just granted parole after only serving 5 years, he has to pay back the winnings in order to stay out. He's also suing the state of iowa.
I wonder how that lawsuit will turn out
@@Nightbreakeryt it probably won't hahaha
why’s he suing the state ?? he’s the scammer LOL
I remember this guy, he's literally one of the most underrated icons who played the system
I have to admit that this guy was utterly brilliant in what he was doing. He also would've been better off stopping while he was ahead. Then no one would've known what he was doing.
Hey, human are greedy. Just because he and his friend got a lot of money, doesn't mean they will stop. Money blind people.
I mean wouldn't 3 million do ?
@@doom6199---True that does happen. People should be more aware of that.
@@bodunk2k---If you mean 3 million dollars. That would've made me stop. But that's just me.
@@brokenbridge6316 I would just stop at million and yes 3 million is nice but the only thing I want is a house that cost less than $100,000 where the rest of the money will be in a saving account to collect interest or paying taxes.
Making the identity of the winners public could potentially endanger them. You're better off not playing the lotto if you'd prefer to keep your identity from being released to the public.
That's the dumbest logic. Do you have any idea how many millionaires there are in the world? They are all public. And they are all fine. Assuming you don't hang out with shady people. Which you shouldn't be doing anyways.
He broke the odds of winning the lottery. It was
*worth it.*
Idk he ended getting 22 years though. He should have stopped while he was ahead.
@@domdittyful I understand they released him after 5 years. On the other hand, despite going to jail, it does mean he will live on as a legend. That may have value too, depending on his goals.
This proves that the lottery is a scam! If dude was able to manipulate the system then the lottery can come up with number combinations that pays out the least….which party is the real crook???
Eddie's playing the long game. Imagine how many people "owe" him, when he gets out.
I love the thorough research that went into this along with the animation production. Keep it up 👏
this channel is a content mill. they are able to put out like three videos a day somehow, but still good quality usually
I don’t get why you wouldn’t win a decent amount, dump the money off shore and never come back. Why do people get so greedy?
He got too greedy.
Had he been able to get into a situation where he could have ensured he knew the winning results to something like the Pick 3, he could have bought himself a fuckton of $500 winning tickets, each of which could have been cashed around town and none of which would have been subject to any type of reporting.
No that wouldn't work either, they would quickly discover that WAY more than 1 in 1000 of the pick 3 tickets being sold was winning. He would in fact have been caught almost immediately if he had done that. Though it depends on what you mean by "fuckton". If you mean buying 1 per week, 52 per year, that would probably go undetected. But if he bought 50 per week, they would suddenly notice way more than 1 ticket in 1000 that was sold was winning the supposedly 1 in 1000 gamble and then put the places he bought them under surveillance and then arrest him when he tried to buy 50 tickets the next drawing.
In fact they might even detect him for buying 52 per year, if he bought them all in the same location, because that one location would be selling way more than 1 winner per 1000 tickets sold, though then it would be hard for them to find him because they wouldn't know WHO at that location was winning and they couldn't just wait to ambush a person suspiciously buying 50 tickets at once all with the same numbers.
in texas we can remain anonymous since they know how horrible it is when u release ur name out there
This reminds me of the gamer kid from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory who determined where the golden ticket would be through science
Even though he said he hates chocolate, leading to this line:
“Well it’s a good thing you’re going to a chocolate factory, you ungrateful little ba-“
So can there be a class action lawsuit against the lottery since it was rigged?
It's a scandal his friends didn't have to pay the robbed money back. They betrayed the people
who would've won instead.
Why cant I have friends like this guy 😭
Why would anyone be prosecuted for a lottery fraud? It's just a lottery ticket, a game. If your system is bad enough and you can't protect your product, then they have the right to exploit it. That's so bs, people should be rewarded for being smart and not punished.
Why would Iowa declare the person won the lottery in public, that's asking for kidnapping or hold ups.
I don't understand why they have to publicize the name of the winner. They don't do that where I'm from, for the winner's safety.
The lottery commission wants the option to use the winners as marketing puppets. To put out advertisements like "Bob Lutz of 127 Wintergreen Drive won the lottery. If YOU spend all YOUR money on lottery tickets, YOU can be a winner just like Bob Lutz!" This is yet another why you shouldn't buy lottery tickets. It's a lose-lose proposition.
The animations on all these videos are great 👍
Well the state attorney ( DA )did GREAT investigation .
love this channel. you guys should do more videos on health/science!
i love watching these types of videos
The Infographic Show is a great entertaining and educational channel
Thank for the video
Poor guy. He robbed a shady company and was put in jail. Unfair.
Imagine if he just randomly bought the winning ticket lol
Brilliant Guy.
Free him. Genius
Anyone ever notice how year after year the mega/power jackpots are always big throughout the Christmas shopping season? This guy is probably the tip of the iceberg.
so true
I need this man as my history teacher, bro is better than history 😅
I know for a fact if I had infographics as my teachers in public school I'd be so much smarter 😄
I my opinion 25 years is wayyy to much, he is just incredibly smart, but not dangerous in any way. People like him should'nt be in prison, there got to be another solution. People are put in prison to realise what they have done or simply because they are dangerous and won"t change. In this situation both just arent the case... somebody got a good idea?
With skills like that he should be offered a better job in IT security.
1000% agree. Make him work and pay the gov't 80% of his salary
$80 Billion?
Bet the lottery hardly even noticed it missing. Kinda ironic tho; stealing from the lottery.
How is there comments from 10 minutes ago when the video came out 3 minutes ago
Would have been a Hollywood blockbuster
My toxic trait is me thinking I could double that number 😏
Would still love citations! Not so much that students could cheat on a paper or something, but enough to point em in the right direction for the subject. My daughter says some of her teachers show these when it relates to the subject. Sticks in the brain better for a lot kids. Great stuff!
What a hero!
Good job. He scammed a scam.
Why wouldn't you quit when you're ahead lol
10:12 How is that justice ? Surely the other people should have been punished too
And also, so does this mean that all lotteries could be rigged?
Yes.....you think Jeffery Epstein won the lotto 2x on a fluke of luck? Doubtful imo. Anything can be RIGGED with electronics involved. Plus people who want the money. Is the WWE,OR WWF fake? It's sad but theres probably more corruption in the world than good. An money is usually the motivating factor, hence "money is the root of evil"
Yea see, I wouldn’t be able to figure out what or how anything worked when dealing w numbers. I’d get too frustrated too easily. Hate math!
nice vid
Infographics knows infography guys because he's a champ.
Yeah my buddy Eric did that once.
well what i never underestood was, why there are so long sentencens for stealing compared to violance in us, like yeah from one point of view i can underestand it (That corporrations are behind it), but like i dont understand why people are okay with it
Because the corporations are behind it, they can give millions in lobbying money , the average joe already gets there money take through taxes so they don't matter the law makers
And to think, a ball dropping out of a tumbling basket without any manipulation is more secure than someone coding up an alleged "random" number generator...
Who would have ever thought..... literally anyone with a functional brain, that's who.
Yes
So, where did you pull the number 80 billion, in the title from, Infographics?😅 Always enjoy your vids, but have to push back on this.
If only I had that much money though.
9:55 thats crazy
This is the earliest I have ever been. Plz notice me guys I love your content!!!
You guys should have a podcasts
Wow!
He would've gotten away with it if he didn't get greedy
They should always be suspicious if a friend of a lotto worker wins. I thought they do thorough background check on all lotto winners. And why did they cut him a plea deal if they already figured out how he did it. Programmers know computers inside and out, they ought to be suspected
Wow man
Haha within the first minute
Early Gang Ticket Finish At 10000
Nice!
Why the annoying electrical sounds in the background?
It is awesome to watch infographics show on youtube I like what would happen if you didn't brush you're teeth for 1 week
Just think this guy could by 8 billion McDonald’s burgers with that
He changed the title lol
He found a way to beat the system and they threw him in prison for it.
This one honestly feels like a victimless crime to me.
Guess I didn’t win the friend lottery either 🙄🙄🙄🙄
In my home town 😪
Did you change the thumbnail??
Not the thumbnail change 💀😂
The real mvp🙏
I HAVE to know how this man hacked the lottery.
This was not 80 Bill thiswas like around 500 mill
I wish o was one of his friends
80 billion dollars?! Are you guys drunk?
I'm surprised this happened in my home town.
Computer "randomizer?" I thought they were all drawn by a televised ball machine.
Nice
I was 1 years old when this happened
Sounds like Office Space in real life
The thing is, usually the winner is chose before the lottery they don't actually give it but do buissnes with it. Not all but quite a few...
how'd you get 80 billion?
Fast reactors wow
It pleases me to see this Robin Hood man do the Lord's work.
Hey
Reminds me of the McDonald’s monopoly fraud
If it was scratch tickets, so that you cant see the numbers, it wouldnt be possible to cheat.
He's a Saint
80 billion?? Misleading clickbait
Funny how the lottery itself is rigged to make $$ off of what is a poor man's tax.
Headed to check radiation in the air right neow!
The perfect crime
Why don’t I have friends like that lol
Hate to be the guy, but that is impressive 🤷🏾♂️
wheres the 80 billion number from ?
Is this channel by the way a partner from Kurzgesagt? Same animation
I still don't understand, can someone put it in simple terms for me
