Headcanon: The "Furina" we see in her character teaser is actually Focalors an alternate timeline where the prophecy comes to pass as Celestia intended: Fontainians dissolved and Focalors alone. Our Focalors foresees this future in which she does nothing and so formulates a plan thus splitting herself into Focalors and Furina.

Immediately afterwards, I remembered this is a Hoyo game, that we're supposed to love the archon, and that they were going to provide the necessary level of emotional investment for it to happen. They were so confident in giving her a terrible personality that I was very very afraid.
Fun fact: before you actually finish the Fontaine archon quest, you can actually hear Furina crying in the fountain before you go into the opera house, but it’s very quiet
