This archon quest really did a 180 on the way EVERYONE sees Furina. Crazy how a well developed story can change your outlook on a character COMPLETELY.
I do agree with you but at the same time many people liked her projected persona already and many also suspected that it was all an act from early on (myself included). It was pretty obvious from the start that there was going to be more to her than just being brat.
@@Nowaylarry honestly for me, considering that Fontaine was inspired by France, I thought Furina was going to be a full Marie Antoinette. Either way, I’m glad how they approach her characterization in the final act.

@@jellybonesmasterfue45 Part of me feels like she was actually inspired by Marie Antoinette. Both weren't actually annoying brats, they were just misunderstood and trying to help the best they could. Like Marie never actually said Let Them Eat Cake or whatever, she tried helping Louis figure out what to do with the country and ended up dying because of it; much like how Furina almost got killed and Focalor actually got executed.
Agree! Totally hated her during her introduction the way she acted all spoiled and such but during this quest couldnt help but feel sorry for her
Furina realizing that the people didn't dissolve at the end of the cutscene gets me every time I see it. I think most would agree that the writing in Genshin has really hit it's stride but writing aside, can we talk about how damn good the audio design is in the game. They do such a great job of using audio cues to amplify the emotions of a scene.
Fr tho, the way they take the mysteious/sad fontaine theme and crank up the emotions by putting it in major key then play it over her realising she didn't just fail and get an entire nation of people dissolved gets me every time
That and Neuvi ascending into the sky with the super emotional opera, it's so damn good

The writing team has been doing such a good job ever since sumeru, all the main quest, side quest and the lore are written excellently
I can see now why they changed the Fontaine motif
I'm wondering, are there multiple writing teams or something for Genshin? Because while this archon quest was incredible, the way Traveler and Paimon treat Furina during her story quest felt so disrespectful and offputting considering everything they know about her at that point.
For the first time, our role in archon quest is a spectator over the main character. Because the protagonist is Neuvilette, and the hero is Furina and Focalor. And I can't even complain. Fontaine Archon quest is another great masterpiece since Sumeru arc.. Also really sad as well.

Honestly? I like it better this way. The traveler should be a witness, not a savior to incompetent nations.

It’s crazy that we just witnessed the death of essentially a god, the salvation of a nation, Furina being rewarded for her duty, and Neuvilette going through it all in one cutscene. And it had to be interrupted by “Melus-“ 😂😂

Indeed. If not from Focalors, then at least from Traveler & Co. That trial was borderline psychological torture for Furina, and none of the organizers didn't even bother to apologize afterwards.

@4h108 That would be correct if Furina was indeed the archon and just didn't feel like divulging the information. But she was a regular girl. And she couldn't speak because of the dire consequences for Fontaine. Traveler & Co were unwittingly coercing her into dooming the entire nation. I think that deserves an apology.
well at the time they had no idea of what she was truly doing, but yea traveler should have apologized after having witnessed furina’s thoughts

and all Fontaine did was throw him in jail. At least he has his fanboys cheering him on
Neuvi mention it in the end though, although its not clear..
He's an unspoken hero and the true underdog of this entire quest. If he hadn't delayed the Narwhal for 45 abyssal days, not even Neuvillete would have had enough time to both defeat the Narwhal and save the people.
If this doesn't stop the fanbase from hating on Childe then they truly don't deserve good things.
focalors death scene gets me every time. amber lee connors and ray chase absolutely smashed the voice acting, and the music... ugh it's truly peak genshin for me.

I never expected Genshin Impact to actually make me cry, what got me was Focalors saying "Thank you, Furina for all you've done. From this moment on please live happily as a human. Just as I wished we could". Then Neuvilette's intense feelings being displayed in the weather
I've watched dozens of reactions to the final cutscene at this point, and still the musical transition at 11:10 and Furina stepping out to see she finally succeeded still gives me chills and makes me cry.

I'm so obsessed with this Archon quest and especially with the cutscene where Focalor dances to her death, so beautiful and tragic. Amber Lee's voice acting gave me chills.

I mean, i don't see many people pointing this out, but the whole of Fontaine's story has had MANY biblical references.
Furina........ is Jesus.... like... she walks on water, gets tempted by Satan to spill the beans (the traveler), and a part of her dies for the sins of her people.
Now I'm not a Christian by any means, but I still dig the way they executed everything. It's not an original story, but the execution is SO on point. Friggin amazing.
Don't forget the original sin too. It's what caused this mess in the first place.

When they kept saying that the prophecy was wrong. I kept crying and saying "No, the prophecy was right but was stopped from happening because of 500 years worth of sacrifice".
Yep. It did happen… we just skipped a step. Neuvi made the people who had Primordial seawater blood become full-blooded humans and they survived.
I still can't get over the fact that Fontaine's Arc is literally bible fanfiction and our little Furina was literally Jesus 🤠

SOBBING!!!! It started and ended so strong!!! Just the thought of how long Furina suffered makes me want to cry.
You cannot TELL me how many times i have cried when the "thank you, Furina. For all you've done. From this day on please live freely as a human....just as i wished *we* could" that last line really got me because focalor really did want to live as a human with Furina. But they both knew....that wouldn't ever be possible

Actually at the end where Lynette says the line about the weeping on the throne and the sins of the people being washed away is different bow. If you remember in the 4.0 trailer her specifically says “and only the hydro archon will remain, weeping on her throne.” But as we all now know, it’s not the hydro archon, and he says Furina instead 😭
Can't wait for her to see Furina's story quest. The cutscene in that had me balling my eyes out.

I always love watching Dish's reaction to story quests. She's the most genuine one who enjoys doing these quests.
fontaine archon quests felt like a movie fr, all the stories in the other regions were good sure but i dont think anything ended quite this satisfying. the looming peril of fontainians dissolving and the lore of what exactly furina up to was by far the most immersed ive been. favorite region so far 💙
the one with the domain thing caused me my greatest anxiety issues ever.
This archon quest made me fall in love with Furina and regret everything I said about her in the beginning, poor girl had suffered alone for 500 years 😭

Dude Furina had such a good character arc, from being just a bratty narcissist to suffering 500 years to just to find out it was all for nothing and the prophecy was still going to happen. Looking back at all the stuff she did before makes it so much deeper, especially the arlechino stuff 😢

I think Navia, if she even had a glider on her (because it is not guaranteed, canonically it is fully possible that she had no glider), she did not use it samely as you cannot use it if you get launched and are falling. It is dazed state, you cannot even plunge from. So... game-wise it does make sense :D
i can say that neuvillette also spoke in that one second for me too, but it was his water voice line.

This quest was so good. But the ending after the whale was kinda weak. Furina disappeared. She said the prophecy was wrong and we never knew if Neuvillette told her the truth or what happened with her. She should have been with him at the end to send us off. Maybe answer some question about our sibling, because Neuvillette doesn't know them, but maybe Furina does through her investigation run into the sibling.

Neuvillete sais on one of his lines at the end of the quest that he told her everything that happened with foscalors, furina (paraphrased) quote "was neither saddened nor comforted, she was just tired and wanted to rest". After 500 years of trauma you can hardly blame her for not wanting to hang around for a chat
Her sticking around would make zero sense whatsoever.
I wonder how and Celestia is right now for being wrong and how Genshin will show that in the next patches
