Thank you! I've wasted so much time trying to inch one way or another just to move that thing! Think I've gotten my daily steps sometimes with these old trailers, walking back and forth! With your way, it took one try and boom! Handle lifted right up! Will save this and tell everyone I see how easy this is! You saved me a lot of time!
I use a Sta-Rat tool that looks like a pogo stick that hooks to the handle, then applies spring tension against the ground. This tool is made specifically for releasing tandems. Very easy to use. Nothing to take out my eye! The tool is available on Amazon.
I absolutely love my Sta-Rat tandem tool! It needs an adapter to work on the vertical lift. I've had to use it on the horizontal pull as well, especially when the trailer is not on even ground
When I haul heavy like 42.000 LB I can’t slide my tandems because my trailer is sitting on the tires. I tried to figure out unfortunately i don’t why it does that
I carry a wedge piece of busted pallet TSC has tons of fresh ones laying around :) so i stuff it next to the bar to help it stay on that little shelf when released And wear eye protection those hooks hurt
Be very careful when you're messing with these bungees because you can get injured when you're fastening the doors open or using them for snow chains or sliding tandems or whatever else you use bungees for be very careful
Sorry Catherine.. maybe try longer straps? and use a couple more of them that way you don't have to stretch them quite as hard.. if you don't have a second person to help you have to try somehow 😁
Or, try this! I know it’s hard to believe. But try it! DON’T WORK FOR A COMPANY THAT DOESN’T UPDATE ITS EQUIPMENT!!! They have money for shareholders, owners, and CEO’s. They are getting away with not paying you properly so they could at least give you decent equipment to use!

The bungee cords method just saved me. Great advice, thank you
Never too old to learn

I've seen those things but this old style of trailer is going away hopefully

Thanks! I just picked up a CFI trailer today & had this problem. Your method worked 1st try.
This trick saved my day. Thx for great advice. Keep it up👍👍👍
This video is a life saver, god bless!!
You Sir Are A Genius.. Thanks 🙏 Very Much!!!
All good advice...especially about hooks on bungees!!! Thanks
Thank you sr . You save our day
It’s real helpful, thanks for sharing with truckers,
Wow that's actually pretty brilliant.
Not really they just have old junky outdated equipment
That was awesome, great advice!!👍
Thank you so much for this useful information
Can you please show what you did inside the cap
why were these old trailers ordered like that to begin with? is that the only type of pen release that was available at the time?
No they were just cheap
I was there when they were ordered. Back then there was only 2 styles. Pull up, or pull out. Not many trailers has spring or air assist until later.
@@mikekirby9310 I can tell you pull out is way way way easier than pull up. just curious. thanks for the reply.

But these crazy new trucks ... doesn't even have a trailer brake lever .. that's sad that some people think that's unneeded.
Especially on 3-series trailers. Those are a pain.
What are the stops called that keep the tandems from coming right out from under the trailer? Like if you forget the pins or bar? Thanks
I carry a wedge piece of busted pallet TSC has tons of fresh ones laying around :)

You are correct I have a magic wedge right down here next to my gloves 😁

Nice thank you
Pretty genius
Supplying air to the trailer releases the brakes... why would you want to unlock your trailer brakes???
Because setting them doesn't hold as hard as putting air to them and then holding the trailer brake lever .. if u have one
Tried that. Not many women strong enough to stretch those straps.

@@gijoe696 I get it done I assure you.
