There was a Hug Lady at the Fort Hood Airport. She was this sweet little old lady who would hug us all goodbye before we flew out for our combat deployments. I can't even imagine how many hugs she's given. But I know we all loved her for it.
Lol felt the same about brutal ambition but I am really excited to read if she does write it a book about those side characters that guy who blackmailed his way in forget their names and that rich girl. That story sounds really interesting lol
Are you sure that a guy couldn't reclaim his title if he came back from the dead? A few months ago I read "Stranger in my arms" by Lisa Kleypas. The guy came back years after being declared dead and he took back his title and everything from his uncle. The same thing happens in "The wolf and the wildflower" by Stacy Reid.
Hello!! This is her authors note. I believe those other books may have taken fictional license. Which is totally okay! And even if not, for Mariah's book, it wouldn't have worked to give it back. "I’d like to address one question I’ve received a lot, even before Betting against the Scoundrel was published. Some readers were certain that the moment Spencer returned, he would automatically get his title back. According to my research, this is not true. From what I found (and it’s only my own research, and I’m not a historian specializing in the inheritance laws of the Regency era), the moment the law awarded the title to the next in line, the former heir was stricken from the line of succession. The title would not be taken back. So, the only way Spencer would have gotten his title back was if the issue was still unsettled at the time of his return. Since you read the series, you know the issue was completely decided. He was dead and Preston got the title. This is the information I found and that’s what I based the premise of the novel on. Even if I found wrong information (which is very well possible; I did not write a scientific dissertation on the topic, after all), let’s remember that this is fiction. So I’ll take the creative license I’m allowed as an author." Thank that for what you will!! ❤️❤️
@@TheBookRefuge I did a little googling and I found that the monarch decided about the titles. So if the returning guy petitioned to the king to get his title back I think he would get it if he had witnesses. That's what happens to Kleypas' book. He brings witnesses to prove to the king that it's really him. And in Stacy Reid's book his family prepare him so he will be presented to the queen/king(? I don't remember) to get his title back officially. I think that's logical. Now I don't know what research this author did so she might be wrong or Kleypas and Reid might be wrong. In the end it doesn't really matter right? As long as we have a good time. I just got startled when you sounded so sure but I had read those other books. Thanks for taking the time to respond so thoroughly!
Of course! 😅🤣 Happy to be corrected if the author led me wrong. I also think that... how often did this actually happen anyway? That would be interesting to know. So would there even BE a hard and fast rule? The Monarch could do anything of course but also... how often did they have to or was there just what people thought was most likely. Very interesting either way! I love learning knew things.
I don’t mind the long wrapups! They make my Sunday!
