    Thank you! This clock was the first gift I ever got my wife when we started dating. We were considering replacing it but it wouldn't have been the same. It's running like new again, thanks to your help!

    I'm so glad I got my clock fixed. Like another poster mentioned you have to make sure that when putting the eyes back in, make sure the flat half round eye pin goes in the top! I put the eyes back in upside down the first time.

    Thank you for the great blow by blow troubleshooting techniques. About two years ago I removed the eyes to clean and it has not worked since. However, since I watched your video I removed the eyes and reinstalled them until I found the correct position and now my Kat works perfectly!

    Thanks so much for this video! I fixed my 13 year old clock by cleaning the eyes assembly and tightening up the batteries. Thanks for making it easy to understand what to do and taking away a lot of the intimidation!

    Thanks! This was really helpful. I had to fiddle a lot with the left eye and take it out multiple times, something was causing friction.Just as I was about to give up having cleaned it 4 times it decided to let loose and work. I might put a small droplet of sewing machine oil in there too. For now Kit Kat lives again! Thanks from Romania!

    What the gentleman in this Kit Kat troubleshooting video fails to mention that could be one of the MAIN reasons why that the Kat tail and eyes stop working is the angle at which the clock is mounted to the wall !! Not once in any of the videos does he discuss this other than when taking the back off to make sure its level. Well I'm here to tell you, on my clock at least it needed to be tilted forward, that is the top of the clock needed to be tilted out ever so slightly more than the bottom. In so doing the clock works as intended. I had the clock initially mounted flush with the wall which was ice and vertical, it kept failing this way !!! When i backed out the screw in the wall that the clock hangs from did to allow the pendulum (i.e. the tail and eyes) to start moving freely back and forth. I didn't know or realize this until I saw in the video above that he has you remove the back cover and place on a table (he indicates a "level" table) at which time I saw the problem, that is the clock (mine at least) DOES NOT WORK when its level ! As I mentioned, I backed the screw out (maybe 2-3 mm's) that the clock hangs from on the wall to allow teh clock to pitch forward and the clock has been running fine now (famous last words). Hope this helps some poor slob out there :)

    Cleaning the "eye holes" worked like a charm. Thank you!

    Thank you for the advice. But in the event both eyes are removed, how do you distinguish between the left and right eye? I know that the bottom has a round pin, while the top is only half-rounded. Since the eye stems are off-centered, could you please tell us if the stems should be closer to the clock "walls" or the center? Thank you.
    *EDIT* - According to their site (of which this information was NOT located in the repair section but in the parts purchasing area) the stems should be closest to the center/nose section with the left eye having an odd number and the right eye having an even number.
    This info required quite a bit of digging and should have been mentioned in the video and on the doctor Kit-Cat page for easy reference.

    I am on the verge of purchasing my first (electric & red) Kit Cat Clock. I just enjoy watching these videos. I teach high school. You would've made a wonderful secondary or post-secondary teacher. I'm hypnotized by your expertise! Thanks for posting.

    My wife just got a classic kit kat for Christmas. Followed these instructions and everythnig checked out... except when i put the back cover on it won't animate. I managed to "fix" it by moving the eye stems to the wider slot.

    will watch part 2 - however, I bent the contact behind that battery up, as you are not supposed to do - you are supposed to push into a greater "V" to contact the battery. How can I fix this contact this broken in 2 behind the battery?

    how about when its too animated? my small sized one is 1 day old and its going so hard the tail is hitting the side and loudly clicking. cus srv is great but getting out the dremel and cutting slots in the back OR waiting for the battery to be less strong (!) isnt the best solution. help?

    One of my j clips are broken. Can I make one out of a paper clip or something?

    • @johnnysimes5082
      @johnnysimes5082 2 года назад

      I don't think so. The J-clip provides a low friction surface for the eye-pivot, and also holds the eye-pivot axis vertical. It's a simple piece of inexpensive plastic but is the key to keeping everything working. Buy a new J-clip.

    Mine works good for about a week then it stops, I have done everything in this video x10 and still it stops once a week. I paid $100 for this clock and I had it opened up more then the dam thing is on the wall.

    My cat clock was working pretty good until I put new batteries in it, the clock was working really good on the new batteries for a few days then the eyes and tail started moving slower then normal when they should be moving fast, its been speeding up and slowing down randomly, I did everything in this video to a Tee, its moving but its going at all random speeds and not smooth at all, when the clock slows down it looks one way and not both ways like it should, this clock is a pain in the ass, Ive been fighting with it for the past 5 years it seems, the only good thing I can say about it is that it keeps good time.

    • @KitCatKlocks
      @KitCatKlocks  5 лет назад

      Hi, I'm sorry that he is wagging at random speeds! I'm not sure if he may have some lever damage; if there is any damage at the pivot point in the lever, it could wobble and not wag smoothly. The way to tell that is by removing the little screw in the center of the lever, pulling out the black retaining piece, and pulling out the lever to examine it. If this is not possible, we do have a 50% off replacement program, where you can send the tail in for 50% off a new clock. If you are interested in this, please send me an email at service@kit-cat.com and I can provide all the details (or go through more troubleshooting with you). Thanks!

    • @ninjaa54
      @ninjaa54 5 лет назад

      @@KitCatKlocks Thanks for getting back to me, I tried everything there is to try on this clock and I can fix almost anything, The tail wags just fine when the eyes are unhooked, I took the eyes out and cleaned them and the holes they go into to, the jay clips are fine and snap into place but one wiggles a tiny bit but still is locked into place, I think its something to do with where the eye stems attach to the pendulum, the pendulum part has a grove worn into it on one side where the eye stem makes contact and rubs as the eyes move, would that make it slow down or stop? When the new batteries were in the clock the clock was going really fast almost to fast and this is just a guess but I think it wore out the plastic pendulum slit where the eye stem fits into because I can see a small worn spot on it, Anyways I'm not sure if I would get another clock because even with the 50% off there would be shipping cost US Canadian exchange to deal with plus duty on top of that, this clock was about 100 bucks in Canada, I got it in 2015 and got pretty attached to it and so did my daughter, we both loved this clock and it was a pretty big let down that it died out so fast, I thought for the price that we would have it for years to come.
