There is something about words sung when they can barely be understood and are half drowned out in brutal beauteous melodies that speaks to me more clearly than the clearest voice. Hail, brothers and sisters who can feel this in your souls! \m/
DUNGAELF GoldSmith You are right. It's indeed something mesmerizing. Same goes for other languages you don't understand in my opinion. Altough it's not quite the same, but if you don't understand what the artist(s) sing(s) it has to be more than just a overused and absolutely boring melodie. And most of the Hits today are exactly like that. You understand what they are singing but if you leave away the voice the melody is just boring/annoying. And the lyrics are often quite dumb. (I'm not saying that every hit is like that, but nearly every single one get's damn annoying if you hear it too often. And most of them are ...as I explained above. )
When you can barely understand the words you're going to focus more on the music itself and the stuff that's happening in the background and also you can feel the emotions and the feels that the singer brings. It's just mindblowing
Boromir is laid to rest in one of the other boats. His sword rests with him, his shield is above his head and his cloven horn at his side. The boat slips over the falls of Rauros and then drops into the mists below. Gimli watches the boat disappear from the bank. Aragorn ties Boromir’s vambraces to his arms, in his honor. Legolas hurriedly shoves the third boat into the water.
Boromir completely exonerated himself. He went to have a warriors death, denouncing the hold that the Ring held over him and trying his best to protect his comrades.
@@dukenukem8598 Yeah, I think he just means the "I R Dorkthrone!!" bands that think black metal is just yelling about Christians while wearing Kiss makeup are frustrating because they lack authenticity and soul. They are not all bad, but as I get older I listen to stuff a lot more like this video and a lot less of the "Christraping Black Metal" by Marduk type of BM.
@@kvltizt Funny that you mention Darkthrone, I recently had a dream and have been pondering the branch of black metal that developed from Darkthrone a bit. Marduk, Dark Funeral, etc esque norsecore is not what I consider bad DT-clones or even DT-clones at all. Both are of course rock and roll music disguised as black metal ie a fundamentally different song structure, but the bad DT-clones at least are fun to listen to and serve as good rock and roll music. However, the line of development of black metal that could be described as using the best Darkthrone as a starting point (ie Transilvanian Hunger) and refining it further is one of the most supreme manifestations of black metal. Cf your comment about you lately preferring post-black metal more and more, I have a contrary feeling. Most post-bm seems to be "Burzumic" in spirit, and imo that band while important lacks one of the key characteristics of black metal that separate it from other music with similar structures: forward velocity and which is the important connecting strand that still keeps black metal connected to metal; an element which is present in Darkthrone, and as I said, the said newer bands refining this approach (stripping away the traces of Celtic Frost that remained in the Transilvanian Hunger sound and adding somewhat more complexity both in large scale structure and the individual riffs, while still maintaining the spaciousness and relative minimalism that is so important in black metal etc) constitute one of the best strands in this genre.
Bought it yesterday. I am proud to have this CD in my collection! There are few albums I consider worth purchasing these days, but this one is so excellent I am considering sending the band additional money since I will be listening for a lifetime.
I used to dislike every kind of metal a year ago or so. But then I started to listen to caladan brood floowed by summoning etc. And i have to say, atmospheric Black Metal is pure art. Thanks to these guys creating stuff like this. Letting us escape the world for some minutes.
Have you listened to neurosis? They're post metal...at least from my understanding. But, it seems as if they have a strong understanding of the dark experiences we face in the world. My personal favorite would be "eye of every storm." Check it out if you feel the need to. You might dig it. You might hate it.
I honestly never get tired of this album. this was the only tape I had in my car for 2 years and despite exclusively listen to it when driving I still love this album. At this point it has to be the album I listened to the most in my life and I still can't get enough of it.
lucky enough to do a small tour with themin 2010, some of the coolest dudes ive ever toured with, great musicians live too , stayed with them for a few days in maine and they extended great hospitality. cheers fellas
That was a fantastic album. I just listened to it front to back without even noticing. It's got the perfect recording quality for it. Nothing too fancy, just perfect.
amazing album! I'll be buying the album for sure (please folks support the bands you love and actually purchase their music to ensure we get to hear more amazing stuff like this - Im talking indie labels here, the mainstream can whistle!)
I love the recurring musical themes, like you catch a glimpse of the opening chords again at 13:34. I think that awesome change at 20:47 might be a reference to the same chord changes as well. I'd have to check it on a guitar to be sure. It comes up through the whole album. Rare to hear that level of craftsmanship in music these days.

@ThatYoureSinking I would kill to have seen that. I saw WITTR in Cincinnati recently, but it was a much different experience, what with in taking place in an abandoned warehouse... and the absence of Falls of Rauros of course.
My first time listening to this all the way through. I'm really feeling it! A lot of emotion here. Nicely done! Now, I have to check out the rest of their stuff.
@blackmetalblunt This is by far one of the best albums I've heard this year. I saw these guys open for Wolves in the Throne Room in some field out in the Vermont Mountains. It was absolutely incredible. They pretty much blew me away.
The sad thing is, that remains true for most albums. Sure, we all have songs we love and enjoy on their own, but people in this modern world have forgotten how to appreciate the holistic offering that artists conjure, therefore cheating themselves and the creator.

Yes, but just when it is executed with the soul. Not with the spent and boring idea that BM was born to worship Satan.

Beauty mixed with devastation. Glorious!
