  • In this video I'll go over the categories for classifying data such as nominal, ordinal, interval, and ratio. To classify these remember to ask questions like, "can the data be ordered?" For more videos please visit www.mysecretmat...

    The zero shoe length is a bit confusing. I was thinking interval and not ratio. I mean n/a or null (no shoe) is not equal to zero (there's a shoe but it's just 0 length). I mean zero is a value right?

      Zero is definitely a value, but you have to ask if that zero corresponds to "nothing" of what you are measuring. Let's say my wife buys a size "0" dress. Does that mean that she has "no" waist? In this case the zero is not meaningful to what you are measuring.

    Classify the following quantitative data according to type and level of measurement.
    1.Days in a year
    2.Number of students enrolled in statistics
    3.Number of body hais
    4.Months
    5.Number of stars in the galaxy.
    Can you explain me sir about that question that I give.
    Im looking forward for your response Sir.

      I wrote a bit more about this on my website if you want to check them out. I also included a few examples to help you know the difference between the two. Basically the difference is having a natural place for zero. :^D

    I don't understand ratio and interval at all. I am quite lost with those two

    • @MySecretMathTutor
      @MySecretMathTutor  4 года назад

      The main difference is that the ratio level has a natural "zero." That means zero stands for nothing of that thing.
      A good example of something that is not at the ratio level is the size of a women's dress. There are size 0 dresses, but 0 does not correspond to "no size," or "no measurement." (According to google size 0 has a waist of about 24" )

    I was with you until you got to the Years and 0 having no value. Completely lost you there.

      @deepakc4096 5 лет назад

      I got the answer. I was puzzled too at first. Ask yourself? Does the value of zero makes sense? If yes then ratio; if not then interval. Value of 0 for year does not make sense, so interval.
