@@suburbanindie Look up their recent “Chasing Birds” live performance, Dave got his voice back. Beautiful. Tasteful. It’s very reminiscent of this era, and Arctic monkey’s AM album. It’s the best god damn slow dance song I’ve heard.
@brxndlxss ahhh I see the vault tapes. Thank you. Yeah those are actually the 1995 album b-side versions but perhaps it is the closest we’ll ever get to seeing a real remaster
"A father scolds his little boy for trading secrets with a girl. He turns a kicks the neighbors dog into the other yard...." So simple yet so amazing. One of my favorites
I bought the bootleg of this album on tape from borderline records in dublin in 1995 ...this song stood out as something very special that day and i kept rewinding the song on my walkman to listen to it again and again. Almost 30 years later i still love it as much...i dont like saying that one era of music is better than another as music is such a personal thing but i will say im so happy that the early 90's was my era..

Beats the shit out of the new FF songs that are 5 minutes long, repeat the same line a million times with Dave's shitty wounded animal screams, and have 3-4 guitarists shitting up the mix
Dave's Nirvana stuff is awesome. You can really imagine Kurt singing it. It's grungey but with a less nihilistic vibe and slightly more hopeful. Which is more my style. A trait fully evidenced by all the songs on his debut Foo album. My personal favourite.
cristian camilo marin cano I completely agree. And very nice grohl drumming as well! Its the time when grohl was writting music of the 90s grunge mixed with nice melodies. Its really a shame that this vibe disappeared after the color and the shape..
re:music sounding like other music. it seems like there are an infinite number of songs and chords, progressions, and timbral qualities to achieve a song. but musicians specifically limit themselves on purpose to create songs. all "IN UTERO" chords are "anagrams" if you will of each other. this is reinforced in the thematic unity of imagery and lyrics. everytime you hear scentless apprentice and it reminds you of serve the servants... well no shit sherlock, that's on purpose.
Love him or hate him, that's your decision, but it cannot be denied that Foo Fighters are arguably the main/only thing that is keeping rock going in the mainstream these days

Trust me, I do agree with you in a certain sense, not totally, but I do agree somewhat. Dave Grohl became an international rockstar and then suddenly the main factor in the vehicle that was their success (Kurt) suddenly no longer was there anymore. Dave and Kurt's creativity were different, no doubt, and probably even conflicting at times, but I think they all had a hand in making Nirvana as awesome as it was overall... and YOU have to admit Dave was instrumental in that. loudly instrumental
seriously if Cobain had heard some of this and collaborated maybe he would felt less crappy about things, Or maybe he was too much of a control freak to let someone take control... This stuff isnt a crazy as In Utero, but definitely could have been Nirvana'd .
+Anthony Jackson Dave has said that Cobain did hear it and really liked Exhausted and Alone+Easy Target but was afraid to ask Dave if he could rewrite the lyrics. Big Me was even included in the box set as a demo for the next Nirvana Album.
***** I've heard exactly what you heard and just said. It's not that he was a control freak it's just he spent so much time writing and practicing music he had a shit ton of songs. 85% if not more of nevermind was already wrote before and around the bleach album as well as some of in utero. And after all his material he already had was made and out that he wanted Dave and krist to join in on the song writing a tad more

Dave's demo tape and the album pocketwatch are a reward only to those who are true foo fighters and dave grohl fans.
I just started to listen to FF and I'm already here.
Why's it better than then their new stuff?
With that melody in the verse you can breath again the smell of the 90's. It totally gives me chills. I'd cry all day long for this song.
Right Dave grohls demo tapes r so fucking pretty, exhausted had me crying.
Back when he could still sing :(

Yes, Dave is really a bastard for not writting songs like he was in his 20's again. Damn you Dave...
the little guitar riff in the chorus reminds me of the riff from "Butterflies"
The indie grunge exists!
I hear The Pixies sound heavy in this song. DAVE!

sounds so much better than immitating kurt in screaming parts from later recordings
What later recordings. Did Dave redo milk or are you talking about how Dave imitates Kurt in his music now?
Yes, because everyone knows cobain invented screams on music
this song has a little bit of nirvana

has some cheep trick elements in there. I wish these demos would be released for real
