I mix all of music with the guitars panned like that. You just have to search out people making this type of music in modern times, and you will find it.

Exhausted pretty much described my 13 yr old self who experienced clinical depression. My favourite line is "What if the day had stayed in bed?" it resonates with me because i couldn't face what everyday life was throwing at me like being bullied at school, always breaking down, back and forth to hospitals etc. I still experience depression occasionally due to losing lots.of family members, a childhood friend and my beloved pets but I'm still fighting it

What i experienced was just more than depression it was pure mania as i was doing things and acting strangely which wasn't me at all. It really upsets me because i just didn't see it. I was merely surviving and not living. I'm now getting the help i was denied after a doctor said i have an underlying condition and waiting for a formal diagnosis. Maybe after 20+ yrs of torment i can finally start living again at the age of 35. You stay strong as well John. Hopefully we will both be at peace with ourselves whether it's on the planet or in the afterlife.
Dave was just starting to spread his wings here. Pat Smear said that the first time he saw Dave pickup a guitar, he didn’t know he could play. He watched in amazement and after grohl set the guitar down and left the room, Smear turned to Cobain and said, “ wow, he is better than the both of us “.

this is really bloody amazing... whenever its just dave grohl who performs on a song all the instruments are in harmony with each other... you can indivually hear all the three instruments and their all on the same level and arn't battling with each other. you pick out each instrument and listen to it. it really sounds good with the drums and the bass which is usally quiet far back in a song really stands out
this is one of those songs that’s so hauntingly beautiful + depressing i actually had to stay away from listening to it so much because it would just make me cry. i felt the lyrics as a depressed teen of course and also just the riffs in this song just.. hurt so good. glad kurt got to hear this one this was was truly beautiful and i’m glad we got to experience this song too. thank you grohl for this masterpiece and thank you for uploading this beauty to the internet
We all know the feeling . I was a teenager in the 90’s so I remember the grunge era well . But there was so much music before that I did miss out on . The early punk / hardcore days and so much great music from the 60’s and 70’s .
I was a teenager when they blew up. They truly changed everything. Killed hair metal and good music without all the pretense became the “thing” for a little bit. It was great. They were life changing.

Dave's best attempt at a NIRVANA song. I was a huge Foos fan for the first albums, but recently, I've been on a NIRVANA kick again and nothing will ever compare to even Kurt's worst songs.
I mean this is easily hands down one of my favorite dark heavy and sad shoe gaze style songs and I mean it's just absolutely fucking perfect! Dave is such an extremely fucking talented individual and this song makes me super emotional because I couldn't even imagine a friend like Kurt and it just moves me to know that he pushed on even though he lost his best friend and he did a wonderful fucking job!

In the 90s Eddie Vedder had a radio special one night. He played a few solo Dave songs (post Nirvana, pre Foos). They sounded like this. I recorded them off the radio onto a cassette tape. It was so good. When Foos came out I didn’t like them, because I wanted it to sound like this.
I remember hearing this for the 1st time during the Self Pollution radio broadcast Jan 1995 before Foo Fighters existed. Who would've known Dave was working on something that would eventually give us almost 30 years of Foo Fighters!
Just found this gem after learning about the history of how Dave produced the first Foos album, I was surprised to learn that all the songs from there were written in the early 90s and Kurt heard a few of the recordings. The audio quality doesn't do this demo justice!
@@jasonjaxxson Foo Fighters have nothing to do with Nirvana though. They never recorded at the same time. This was Dave’s side project. Kurt loved Dave’s writing and often encouraged him. I don’t know where this presumption that Kurt was always late to the studio came from.
just listened to this version against the album version. This is a lot scratchier, which Nirvana songs were. So makes sense that this is kind of his work with Kurt's influence.

Just found this gem after learning about the history of how Dave produced the first Foos album, I was surprised to learn that all the songs from there were written in the early 90s and Kurt heard a few of the recordings. The audio quality doesn't do this demo justice!

@@jasonjaxxson Foo Fighters have nothing to do with Nirvana though. They never recorded at the same time. This was Dave’s side project. Kurt loved Dave’s writing and often encouraged him. I don’t know where this presumption that Kurt was always late to the studio came from.

You're thinking of the petrol can amp. That was used on the re recorded version of Exhausted. Dave used a dying amp on the demo then it blew up.

just listened to this version against the album version. This is a lot scratchier, which Nirvana songs were. So makes sense that this is kind of his work with Kurt's influence.
Kurt liked this song and wanted to use it, but wanted to change the lyrics.
