Great story! Very relatable and you couldnt have chosen a better person. She's doing what she needs to do on limited income, despite being highly educated. She's a great example
Or she could just get a husband. Lots of upwardly mobile men in Houston. There is no fulfillment in slaving away for some heartless corporation for 40 years
@@Originalman144Just " get a husband" lol yeah tell that to tens of thousands of single women in Houston looking for a good man. I know several very nice women that can't find anyone. I live in Houston and I have a husband but I always work 2 jobs. I make a bit more than this lady but I have a 6 month old and I'm still trying to pay off the hospital bills from having him plus my student loans plus my mortgage. That doesn't even include many other bills.
I'm so proud of you my friend! Glad I was able to support you this day and the CNBC Make It team are truly awesome. Its only up from here my love and I'm here for it❤
Sis, you have a degree and experience. We have to get your resume together and position you for higher paying roles. You deserve to live comfortably and reserve your time! And Black really don’t crack! You’re gorgeous!
Yeah I think she can definitely get a better job with an education bachelors degree and a masters degree. Plus she has years of experience. She never talked about why she isn’t making more today.
@@ojames1983bro what are you talking about, this is simply untrue from an economic standpoint. i studied economics and we are not paid “what we deserve” hence why the hardest workers that serve the most value to the world (think firemen, teachers, public defenders, and healthcare) are all severely underpaid. teachers for example - are literally tasked with building the future of the world and are paid 40-50k to deal with all of that BS. . . i work in a career that provides no value to anyone but the ultrawealthy, and came out making 100k. i wouldn’t say i inherently “deserved” it.
Sis, I first off you are BEAUTIFUL. But this is egregious. And I'm actually mad for you. I see you being a Program Manager, Customer Success Manager, Learning & Development Specialist, or Implementation Specialist somewhere in Tech that can translate your love for teaching, just in a different space. There's also several Ed-Tech startups and Tech companies overall that will pay you what you're worth in those positions, like $100k+. And you DESERVE it!!!
@travelvideozI’m not sure what your background is but having worked in Tech I can tell you that it’s VERY possible to make 100k. And being a Customer Success Manager doesn’t mean you’re “managing” people and I would suggest looking up job descriptions and or career options mentioned outside of the experience or knowledge you have about the field. I know the Tech job market is brutal, but it’s still not impossible to build a career there and succeed. You might be devaluing yourself as well and not privy to what’s actually out there and possible. She has the experience as a Program Manager and could be a Project Manager, Product Manager, and a host of other options if she too could see the possibilities outside of focusing on just “passions” where she has to work 3 jobs to make that and only go with what she may only be aware of. Again, maybe it’s not working out for you but sis could be and should be making around 100k with her experience, and If not in Tech, there’s other fields where it’s VERY possible. You just gotta expand your horizons and open your mind. The problem isn’t that she’s solely making $65,000. It’s that it’s doing 3 jobs to get there when she shouldn’t have to AND has a Master’s degree. SHE’s QUALIFIED!!!
@@missdesireindependance5194 I get that it's a stable industry and one I've thought about as well. However, I don't even think it's so much the $65,000 with her living in Houston (which isn't bad) but her working 3 jobs in order to get there. If she was working 3 jobs and at 100k+, that's different. But I can't and will not wrap my mind around that being the only option IF her goal is to pay down debt and still sustain her lifestyle. She'd be better off making cuts in certain spending areas than burning herself to the ground. Plus, she's too qualified and regardless if she's "passionate" about her job, it shouldn't come at the expense of her quality of life. And Tech isn't so much the problem. I think people keep looking in the same places with tech jobs as if it's not a vast field. I'd avoid the FAANG companies but still look at plenty of other options and job roles that she can apply her skills set to. Seriously, she deserves sooo much more. That's all.
I work in tech and it’s absolutely brutal. She might not want the constant stress of looming layoffs, long hours, huge and aggressive personalities. Tech isn’t as rosy as you guys make it out to be. She seems to have a stress free life where she sees the sun. That will go away fast
Thank you CNBC for finally highlighting someone whose experiences reflects a LOT of millenials/genZ struggles! The other Make It profiles are of people making six figures and this is only a small fraction of young people.
This shouldn’t be normalized. It seems like a sponsored ad for DoorDash. Honestly, I Recommend her leveraging skills to land a private sector role to get paid more. Company loyalty is dead based on the current climate we have. You make more money switching companies strategically
I suggest she try the federal government for employment so she can get transferred anywhere around the country or even the world taking her medical/life insurance with her to practically any country. I hate to say this but it's reality because the "position title" you have has nothing to do with where you'll end up being and in what situation you'll be in when you retire. The best thing is to get a job with the federal government and invest in their plans. If the US government goes under that means every private business will too.
I don't know if this is "normalize" as much as it is just someone's experience. I too have graduated with over 100K in student loans (for a masters degree). I am currently 3 years away from forgiveness. I, too, have also held 3 jobs after graduate school to make ends meet. I'm currently have two jobs, and I'm in a doctoral program. Some of us have to/choose to hustle.
Siiiiiiiis I absolutely applaud your work ethic and hustle BUT there’s no reason you should be working 3 jobs with a masters degree to only bring in $65k. I left higher ed in 2021 making $55k (very similarly to being a program mgr) & started working remote with a nonprofit that supports college students…almost doubled my salary! Higher ed just ain’t it & that’s the reality. I hope you find a better position that allows you to REALLY enjoy the fruits of your labor 💜
@@dot0422 It's not it in terms of salary. There's no reason presidents and chancellors make 6 figures and everyone else struggling to get the basic necessities, even with master's degrees. But even for the higher positions that pay more, the stress isn't worth it. Have you heard about Dr. Antoinette Candia-Bailey?
This video demonstrates how the American Dream is dead. Who wants to work three jobs? She must work this hard to survive. The exploitation of women, specifically black women, in America is disgusting.
@@iiiiilllllllll Do you know her diet? I spend way less than the average American on food by shopping at Asian/Latin/Jamaican etc. grocery stores and eating meals with rice, veggies, and less meat than the average person. Her spending less on food means nothing besides the fact that she's smart with her money. I shake my head hearing all the bloated grocery bills for people that are unnecessary and most of the time avoidable.
Yall in the comments are so ignorant. "With your degree you should be earning six figures" please wake up. This is reality. Degrees don't necessarily pay anymore and millions of jobs have been lost to globalization and automation. Obviously, if she (and millions of others) could get a higher paying job they would.
Statistically people with degrees do get paid more than those with no degree at all, but there are outliers. It's unrealistic to say a person will get a 6 fig job just for having one, though.
A Friend told me Saving at least 15% of your income in a 401(k) can help ensure that you have enough money to retire comfortably. is this a good way to potentially grow my retirement savings to about $3M over time?
If you are not knowledgeable, it is better to get advice or support from a consultant or investng coach. I think talking to a consultant is now the best approach to get into the industry because it helped me stay afloat in the stock market and increase my portfolio to roughly 65%.
She's known as a 'Amber Russell Bennett'. One of the finest portfolio managers in the field also widely recognized. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with.
@@chaxologist2024 but cycling effort is irrelevant. Just being outside in the Houston heat and humidity for hrs will have you sick. A car really is better there, even if just a small compact.
Two part time jobs and one full time job. The median household income in Houston Texas is 65,000 so yeah she is doing well compared to Houston's median.
$1000 in emergency fund before attacking the debt - no credit cards, sounds like dave ramseys baby steps .. Good for her. I wish her all the best on her journey.
@@nappyboi312 Dave Ramsay's plan is to start out with 1000 as an emergency fund.. but u should continue building on that savings 1000 is supposed to just be a start
@nappyboi312 so the 3rd step after paying off debt is to save 3 to 6 months emergency fund. Most people don't even have the 1000 to begin with unfortunately .
Two part time jobs and one full time job. The median household income in Houston Texas is 65,000 so yeah she is doing well compared to Houston's median.
She LOOKS like she takes very good care of herself! The proof is mostly in her skin. She also looks like, even though she’s working three jobs, she’s happy with her life.
I make $38k a year debt free 733 credit score and live by myself in Houston. It’s crazy that I’m financially doing better than most of the country with little ol $38k I save about $1400 a month
I make about $95k as a Data Analyst. I work another 20 hours a week delivering food for my cousins and parents restaurant making another $24k a year. Its challenging but I like the break of environment. I can do this when I'm young and single.
That’s different.. This is like someone living in a motel vs someone living in a full service hotel. It’s the same to me but people view things differently.
@SinaAla yeah I thought about that as well. But it depends on their lifestyle as well. Please im happy for this individual, not jealous or anything but again it's probably their lifestyle. Ild have a sweet lifestyle as well when the money starts coming in.
Relying solely on social security isn't advisable. I've learned that the most efficient path to wealth, both in acquiring a million and sustaining billionaire status, is through wise investment strategies.
I’m glad I’m not the only one who was stuck on that part. After having a trainer for awhile she should be able to come up with her own workout routines and get a gym membership that is much cheaper cause that’s insane.
First of all sis…you are so beautiful & intelligent! Congrats on the success. Thank you millennial money for highlighting someone very practical that represents a lot of us. Second… Please don’t wait until your debt is completely paid off to “start enjoying” your life! Enjoy your youth while you can because tomorrow is not promised!
I’m very impressed she has $96k saved for retirement. She’s working jobs she’s enjoying and that’s the most important. I hope she doesn’t hook up with somebody who’s going to take all that away from her.
Everyone is commenting on this woman (she is gorgeous BTW) and I totally do agree that she needs to be earning six figures with her degree and her experience. I hope she'll see the comments and KNOW that she can go out in to the world and ask for more and receive it. Unfortunately she's grappling with what many Black women deal with - we have to be twice as good to get half as much. Black women are often saddled with student loan debt - because without the degrees (and often multiple degrees) we won't be even considered for the job. I work in a predominately white male "prestige" field and despite my years of experience, Masters degree and multiple credentials I've regularly encountered this phenomena. I totally understand and relate to what she is experiencing and pray this woman can find a six figure job that values her experience and work ethic
Exactly! You said it right! Sometimes, we don't even "know" that we should be paid more until someone pushes us up there, then you start to realize you've been losing out! So crazy!!! Everyone is saying that in the comments, she deserves more and is worth more, but this is purposely and systematically done, and when it's brought to light on the internet everyone is shocked but it's our reality. Understanding your value and negotiation is key!
No one is out to get you all just because you are a woman and Black. The corporate world is designed to take advantage of anyone it can . If you want to get your fair share, you have to know how to objectively negotiate for it. Also no one saddle you with student loans. You willingly took them on and didn't choose careers with high ROIs in terms of compensation. I am tired of this victim talk from the women in my community. Own your choices and when you do then things will change rather quickly in your life. Before you all get mad, remember I am a AA man so I should be getting it worse than you all...
This video didn't reveal what degrees she has. If she has degrees in African studies, then should an employer be obligated to pay her a six figure salary? Many black women are getting degrees that nobody is asking for and then they complain about not having the careers or pay they wished to have. This may not apply to you, but it certainly applies to many others.
@@xtrey19x she says later in the video that she works in Ed Admin, so I assume she got her degree in Education. There are six-figure jobs in higher education admin btw. I agree that people (not just Black women) get degrees in fields that don't lead to anything. Young people need to be educated about what degree choices pay. I encourage college students to research the first 10 years of expected salary in their fields before committing. If they don't like the numbers, switch majors and careers
So many bw will be in much better positions only if they understand that there is no point taking loans to get master in majors that don’t bring money into your life. What logical person will go get a master and make $65k a year and with $100k debt? Like how’s that possible? She only needed a bachelor and it’s time we stop taking pride in getting master in things there is absolutely no usage or bring substantial income into your life. You should only take loans for science majors or law school as those can make you 6 figures within 2-3 years out of college and plus those majors have a lot of scholarships available as well
Over 100k in students loans to achieve a Master degree? And making less than 65,000$? Make it make sense. 😮 The overall system failed her. But I do admire her determination and work ethics! She needs to get into Tech preferably EdTech to make more money for her primary job. I can help!
Yes it was probably the school she chose because you can get a Master’s degree for less than that. Unless she is including undergraduate loans in that total which still can be less.
I suggested this and they in the comments tryna tell me I’m crazy! It’s no attack on her for her hustle. It’s just gotta make sense and add up and she can definitely make more without having to do 3 jobs to attack “debt”this way and still end up only at $65,000. Like I don’t think people actually are thinking about this from critical stand point and realizing how absurd this is and I think she’s amazing and just want more for her.

I had to double check her age - she looks mid to late 20s! All that fresh air doing doordash seems like it contributes to her quality of life. I applaud her hustle and adaptability to the chaotic job market and unforgiving educational loan programs. This is more relatable to us normal folks who are not tech bros with connections to VC funding. More stories like this please!
It's tough indeed as seen already. With such a modest income, saving and investing might seem out of reach, but it's crucial for long-term financial security.
Absolutely. Even on a tight budget, there are ways to start investing wisely. It's essential to prioritize essentials, like building an emergency fund, before diving into investments.
And with the global economy being so unpredictable, it's even more critical to plan carefully. A sudden downturn could have a significant impact on someone with a modest income and multiple jobs.
The problem is that people don't have the knowledge needed to succeed in a challenging market. Only highly qualified professionals who had to experience the 2008 financial crisis could hope to earn a high salary in these challenging conditions.
She is beautiful. The grandma that made that rude statement to her grandchild is disgusting. I have ZERO tolerance for mean people. Especially mean people that determine a person's worth based on their occupation. Just evil.
Boomers aren't necessarily 'mean', she made that comment because she has no idea what it takes to make it in todays market/economy. Boomers are stuck in the 80s. Her comment was the world passing her by. You should feel pity for the grandma, if anything.
@BedroomBeethovens ummm.... her comment was rude... period. This is a wierd comment. It's annoying when people excuse rude/bad behavior. U can feel sorry for her being older but posessing no maturity and depth whatsoever and still say she made a rude comment.
@@kaykaysfashion122 Agreed. If the woman made the comment with an awareness that she was loud enough for the young lady to hear it, the she was indeed being rude. Also, it's been my experience that those who are mean, old people were the same way when they were young. Personality just becomes more pronounced the older you get.
IKR?? Her grandkid may be working four jobs and struggling to eat and put a basic roof over his head the way things are going. Hard work and a good education really don't mean much anymore.
this is horrifying. working yourself to an early grave is never a good look, but ESPECIALLY not for $65K !! it’s shameful how the media tries to normalize utter dysfunction within a completely broken system😢
Its not right she's so underpaid. Regardless she has done really well. University financing needs urgent reform. It seems like a predatory trap for so many.
Glad her loans were forgiven, that's a huge weight off her shoulders and it frees up more income that can be circulated in her community. I hope there are more profiles on people that show the positive effect of student loan forgiveness
Can you guess who pays for it in the long run? We should know that if you take out a loan, you will be on the hook for paying for it. This presidency continues to weaken our economy for votes and it still might not be enough.
@@LightskinKing33 ok apply that to ALL loans. Students could file bankruptcy for student loans until the 90s. it should be seen as the same as all other loans. the reason the loan is forgiven at educational institutes is because they are paid less than market rate, same with teachers and their student loan forgiveness
@@munaali840 Yes I don’t believe bill Clinton should have gotten the government involved in providing loans to students. That heavily inflated the pricing of schools. Like you mentioned he was able to get the government involved because student loans now became something you could not remove with bankruptcy. Now that they are involved and knowing these prices are heavily inflated, one must decide if what they’re going for will give a proper ROI to justify going to college. Not just wait for the government to bail people out that continuously make bad choices.
The irony is that grandmother who made the comment, her life more likely went like this: She and her husband both had high school diplomas. Her husband got a job straight after high school and she was a stay at home mom. They bought a modest house on his single salary in their 20s and they raised three kids on the salary, before retiring on social security and maybe even a pension if the husband had a manufacturing job that was unionised. They really have no clue what society is like for millennials …
Thank you for showcasing a realistic person struggling to make realistic income unlike these millionaires that I see in your past shows... like what's up with that❤
i actually got so tired that i just started interviewing people myself! i keep it anonymous and that pretty much roots out the folks who wanna just tell you how great they are doing. i speak to people from all over the world and in all types of work. recently i've had on a therapist, mortician, facial plastic surgeon, ASMR artist, a guy who makes trophies!
It tends to be the opposite of whatever the push/trend is. College was pushed so trade schools were great. Now trades are being pushed. If everyone floods it school will be great.
I am an advocate for both… I have done both and I have worked for both types of institutions. There is a need for both (Universities/ Technical Colleges and/or junior colleges).
The way she talks … sounds like she’s a Dave Ramsey follower! Better than we deserve! Live like no one else now so you can live like no one else later!
But she is doing Ramsey ish because she continues to pay 237 a month in gym. That's ridiculous. She already rides the door dash bike why pay 237 monthly.
To think if she were working in tech as a PM she’d be making double her salary. Higher Ed salaries are insanely low and it’s sad that that’s the reality of this country.
It's unfortunate that people working one full-time job are unable to pay for basic life expenses. Things are too expensive nowadays - but she is also underpaid at her $55k jobs...especially with having to still pay $600+/month on medical insurance. I was considering moving to a southern state to be closer to my mother when she relocated...But, I looked at salaries for my same position at other orgs and the move would come with a 40% pay cut and less benefits. So, I applied to other positions in my northern state and ended up with a 20% pay increase.
Yikes, she is underpaid! I'm sure it was extremely difficult to graduate in 2009. There are some questionable financial decisions being made though... Only $1,000 in savings (can't cover a single month of rent if needed) but spending over $200/month on a Lifetime membership?! Go to LA Fitness for $40/month and build up your savings immediately! Then once you can cover 3-6 months of expenses go back to Lifetime. That low amount in savings shocked me... Interestingly she says with her budget she could afford a more expensive place. Her current rent comes out to 23% of $65,000....and that's pre-tax.....and only $1,000 in savings. Thankfully she says she doesn't want a bigger or more expensive place because she can't afford it. Lastly, her "health and wellness" includes eating out with friends and clothes? That's shopping, it just is.... I think there are some more financial lessons for her to learn moving forward. But, go get paid more, you deserve it!!!
To be fair, they didn't go over her budget in detail. I assumed that $270 was her grocery bill, which is pretty decent for a single person. She can 1000% get a better job with her background though.
@@ughmina Oh yeah, the $270 on the pie chart they aren't super clear on. She just verbally said that she considers eating out and clothes as part of "health and wellness."
65k without a car payment, no gas, no car insurance and still no savings. 15 years since graduation and really nothing to show for it. This is why its better to go through life with a PARTNER.
Go to school, finish college, get a good job, to not be able to pay bills and afford any thing is ridiculous. So many people out here getting a ridiculous major. That they only no is there passion but won’t make them any money❤. But $12 dollars an hour 😂
You can’t call DoorDash a side hustle when it’s your primary income. Also you don’t pay $200+ in gym membership when you’re only making $65k. The math just doesn’t math. Get rid of the electric bike and get a real bike, there’s your free gym membership.
Her primary job is working at as a Program Manager at a university, making $55k a year (2023). She made 6k from Door Dash (2023). It’s in the beginning of the video…
She needs to be on Caleb Hammer's Financial Audit as a palate cleanser. She's actively paying her student loan debt and don't have credit card debt and did not purchase a car she couldn't afford.
Goes to show, college doesn't make you smart at all. 3 jobs and you make 65k a year??? College failed you guys. Meanwhile I'm out here with no college degree making well into the 6 figures with 1 job...
She's not smart..she's working 3 jobs, doesn't own and has to budget everything and she's entering 40s..this is sad reality of the U.S ...she make look happy but that's not a happy life ..she should move to where she can make more money
Why would CNBC highlight and normalize a struggle bus... hmmmm.. She is educated and could have a higher salary with one job rather than all three. Reminds me of the Annie Lee painting "Blue Monday"...I hope she received a good stipend.
Say what you will… this sister has settled for the short end of the stick. Find mentorship and get around a tribe that makes the money you desire… move out of Houston and make that bank… and you’re in your 40s… girl move
I’m a teacher in Houston and make $71K a yr. with the teaching job alone and without a Master’s degree. I graduated from UH where she works at. I lived at home and only payed around 20k for my whole education. She would be better off using her degree to teach (yes, I know it is hard) than what she currently does.
Okay, the great news about her story is that she is making it on her terms. She is not trying to get wealthy. Her version of the American Dream is to be debt-free and "to live life" on her own terms. There is nothing wrong with what she is doing. I am proud of her ability to be satisfied with her life and she is not trying to be like the JONESES... Everybody's dreams are different. I like that she is happy with her life. It would be great if everyone was happy with their lives instead of hoping to be something else. If your dreams are different, more power to you. There is nothing wrong with her version of what makes her happy.

$230 for a gym? 600 for insurance? What in the world. She needs to learn to manage her money better too. She is hard working what is that when you can't make your money go a long way.
With her retirement, she can move to Panama, or Costa Rica. Since America exploits and there’s no more dreaming, gather the funds and live your life elsewhere.
She's on the right track. The only thing I suggest is 1. stop retirement savings until you become debt-free. 2. Instead of working 3 jobs find one job that pays you $75K. Delivery jobs don't make any money we all know that. Trust me I've been there and done that. 2. Quit the gym membership entirely since you bicycle every day or go to a cheaper gym such as LA Fitness or Planet Fitness until you become debt-free. You can always go back to a lifetime if you love it that much. And this is coming from an all-natural DEBTFREE bodybuilder.
A teacher in Houston TX earn $55,000/yr. With a masters degree it maybe $5000 more. Studies show that working multiple jobs or lots of overtime increases the risk of strokes. I had a friend whose son was working 6 out of 7 days a week - 12 hour shifts. He died of a stroke at only 27 years old. My health is worth more than money.
Right out the gate she's already doing too much for earning so little. Could understand maybe at 2 remote jobs with one of those being a breadwinner and the other is a part time thing but this is just a disaster waiting to happen with that in office job at the university. Thankfully Texas money goes a little further than other states but not that much, especially if you live in the metropolitan area of Houston where it's not cheap which in that case you're just on a hamster wheel hoping to not go under with 3 jobs. My advice would be to immediately get a remote job because this ain't it and your time back is priceless.

Yeah I think she can definitely get a better job with an education bachelors degree and a masters degree. Plus she has years of experience. She never talked about why she isn’t making more today.
Facts
Everyone deserves what they earn, if it's deserved, she'd have it already. People say someone deserves something like it's free candy , it's not 🤣
@@ojames1983bro what are you talking about, this is simply untrue from an economic standpoint. i studied economics and we are not paid “what we deserve” hence why the hardest workers that serve the most value to the world (think firemen, teachers, public defenders, and healthcare) are all severely underpaid. teachers for example - are literally tasked with building the future of the world and are paid 40-50k to deal with all of that BS. . . i work in a career that provides no value to anyone but the ultrawealthy, and came out making 100k. i wouldn’t say i inherently “deserved” it.
Right!!! I'm 40yo with a bachelor's degree. I live in Houston. I make $70k. She should be making $100k a year.
You idiat, she does this because she wants to. Listen to her story!
Tech does pay well but people are struggling to find work in tech. Education may not pay as well but it’s stable.
This is exhausting. Life shouldn't be like this.

Pretty easy to avoid loans if you go to community colleges and try to find cheaper local schools.

Best comment I have seen today!… People would rather comment about the fact that she doesn’t look 20 she actually looks 40 🙄.
You are 100% correct.
I encourage college students to research the first 10 years of expected salary in their fields before committing. If they don't like the numbers, switch majors and careers
So many bw will be in much better positions only if they understand that there is no point taking loans to get master in majors that don’t bring money into your life. She only needed a bachelor and it’s time we stop taking pride in getting master in things there is absolutely no usage or bring substantial income into your life. You should only take loans for science majors or law school as those can make you 6 figures within 2-3 years out of college and plus those majors have a lot of scholarships available as well

Wow, I have always wondered how someone in that situation could manage their finances effectively to build a stable portfolio.

She should be making more as a program manager
You just made my day. You work so hard and have a positive attitude. I hope things work out for you in the future.
40??? She look mid 20's
She doesn’t. She looks 40.
She looks great but I’m not sure why people think folks age so much in appearance between 25-40. Maybe the people they know age fast
@@MLagarde0425what does 40 look like 😂?… cause you came in hard with that comment.
@@KFontLab exactly and as im reading your comment i feel like those are the years your looks change the least. Ppl are weird
Wow to work 3 job for 65K is hurtful... one job should pay that amount.
One job should pay that. I know plenty of ppl with 2 jobs.
I KNOW RIGHT!!!
Her primary job is working at as a Program Manager at a university, making $55k a year (2023). She made 6k from Door Dash (2023). It’s in the beginning of the video…
Apparently you werent listening - Door Dash is NOT her primary income! As well, she's telling her story, NOT asking for our advice.
my most favorite episode yet
i prefer the more realistic ones
That gym membership is ridiculous. My god, I spend 50 a month and already feel that is too much.
Right! I was thinking the same thing!
Probably includes session with that trainer
@@co563 At this price it must include "private" sessions with him
I spend $16
😂 I spend $10.83 a month at a planet fitness near where I live
She needs to be on Caleb Hammer's Financial Audit as a palate cleanser. She's actively paying her student loan debt and don't have credit card debt and did not purchase a car she couldn't afford.
Caleb only wants the worst on his show
Goes to show, college doesn't make you smart at all. 3 jobs and you make 65k a year???
College failed you guys. Meanwhile I'm out here with no college degree making well into the 6 figures with 1 job...
What do you do for work?
shes beautiful smart and inspiring ⭐️
Don’t celebrate this. She needs to break in to a higher paying industry. This is not a lifestyle she should live everyday.
@@ft1725 She's working three jobs to pay off her debt. Surely that can be understood.
She's not smart..she's working 3 jobs, doesn't own and has to budget everything and she's entering 40s..this is sad reality of the U.S ...she make look happy but that's not a happy life ..she should move to where she can make more money
Only 1k in savings? But 237 on a gym membership?
Ikr. Planet Fitness is $10 per month.
She has a trainer guys and look at her skin and body. Like a 25 year old. Yet men of the culture havent claimed her yet.
@@followGreatnessshe’s obese. Why don’t you go claim that
You know there are million of free workout videos on youtube?
Show seniors on Social Security living on $25K a year.
Are you a math teacher, because you spelled “paid” wrong lol?
Okay, the great news about her story is that she is making it on her terms. She is not trying to get wealthy. Her version of the American Dream is to be debt-free and "to live life" on her own terms. There is nothing wrong with what she is doing. I am proud of her ability to be satisfied with her life and she is not trying to be like the JONESES... Everybody's dreams are different. I like that she is happy with her life. It would be great if everyone was happy with their lives instead of hoping to be something else. If your dreams are different, more power to you. There is nothing wrong with her version of what makes her happy.
this is a rare angle for this program but i tend to speak to folks like this all the time on mine
This is why i love canada . School cost almost nothing. Health is free
Just gonna pretend you don't pay more in taxes for that?
Yes we do but we have better quality of life than you . 40 years old living like this . I prefer to pay taxes my friend . Salute
@@jennifercarlacadet5291 That's fine. I wish our tax dollars went to such things. But they don't so we don't want to pay more in taxes because we see what's already being paid. Is used to give foreign aide and prioritize immigrants. Or is just wasted on B.S.
Glad Canadian government looks out for its people. Be thankful your government puts Canadians first. But it ain't free. That's false. You pay a lot more in taxes. But your government shows it's worth it

The most surprising thing for me in this video is that she is paying $622/month for insurance.
Is this normal?
No.
Insurance??? What Insurance for.
Healthcare could easily be a couple hundred or more if the employer doesn’t offer it. Wonder if she has whole life insurance.
Yikes, there is a lot of projecting, judgment, and assumptions going down in the comments. Shonnita, thank-you for sharing your story! Congratulations on all your accomplishments. Nearly 100K in retirement while working three jobs is incredible. My jaw hit the floor when you shared the comment the woman made under her breath. You handled that ignorance with such grace.
Wow, she’d make more money back in Connecticut or the mid Atlantic teaching. She’d be making between $90 and 100k annually.
That's exactly what I said..Teachers in NYC, NJ, Connecticut make much more
@@chrisr4407 NYC & the Northeast is also more expensive than Houston and ice falls out of the sky for half of the year. Plus, you'll have to pay state income tax and there's no income tax in Texas.
@@xtrey19x A single person making ~$80k+/year, which is what someone with her experience in a similar role would make here, could afford to live on their own here in CT. But the winter rituals and potholes are another story, and quite frankly are partly why I am looking to move myself. And making around the same as her, I actually take home more of my paycheck even after my state income tax deductions.
$230 for a gym? 600 for insurance? What in the world. She needs to learn to manage her money better too. She is hard working what is that when you can't make your money go a long way.
40? she looks 28
With her retirement, she can move to Panama, or Costa Rica. Since America exploits and there’s no more dreaming, gather the funds and live your life elsewhere.
3 jobs to get 65k? Thats working all day and just taking a break to eat and sleep 😢
She's on the right track. The only thing I suggest is
1. stop retirement savings until you become debt-free.
She probably likes the freedom of doordash
@@rsimmons1980 She does but its a terrible side hustle and can make so much money faster doing many other things.

Another great video! Thank you for a realistic story! She is very inspirational. Hope she's able to build wealth in the future.
Why is her gym membership so expensive, $237/month is insane!
Same thing I said. I spend $10 at a planet fitness near me.
I could look past it if she had a fit body to justify it, but nope she's heavy.
That's crazy expensive. She must have a trainer.
@@sharinaross1865 its a lifetime fitness, its a luxury chain like equinox. It’s worth it’s ONLY IF it’s within your budget.

I think I’ve seen her on the train multiple times and I can say that bike is 100% lit 🔥
