This, along with the timing belt video, has been illuminating. Eleven hours, 8 bloody knuckles and countless swearwords later, my timing belt and water pump are successfully replaced. This RUclips channel is truly an amazing service, thank you.

I don't know how many times I ended up watching this video and the timing belt one over and over but it got me through repairing my 2002 Nissan Frontier 3.3 l myself. You can't imagine how thankful I am for your video! It was the absolute best video on the topic and done step-by-step and nice and slowly for a beginner. Thank you ever so much!

How’s the frontier running? I’m going too attempt the replacement on my 98 pathfinder
I'm going through the same thing is it necessary to do all this in order to just change the water pump
I'm doing the pump on my 2001 Frontier and this is the most well put together and straight forward tutorial on youtube that I have been able to find. Thank you!
Still coming back! A1 Auto hasn't failed me and my boys yet! Thanks again.
I really want to thank you for this very well explained tutorial that helped me to do the job perfectly. My wife's 1999 Nissan Pathfinder is up and running again.
I've replaced the timing belt, the water pump, thermostat, as well as the three bels.
Bravoooo!!
J. George Almendarez You are welcome!
I'm ready to start fixing my 99 Pathfinder after seeing your video
Thanks 🎉
For anyone tackling this job take my advice... This guy gives a real good job going over removal and installation or everything but he skips over a lot of important steps when setting the timing and installing the tensioner so make sure you also have access to another tutorial for setting timing and installing tensioner.
These videos are great. I regret buying an older Nissan Quest van. The parts are so expensive, and the check engine light comes on way too often. I miss my 09 Accent. The parts were cheap, and the car just kept running almost without problems.

Just finished doing the belts, seals and water pump on my 97 Pathy using video as a guide. Awesome video!
My 99 had a rusted screw so I couldn't get the bottom cover off mine. Mine was a nightmare
@@kingfolk500 how long did it take you

No Brasil e aprendendo a fazer manutenções no meu pathfinder 98...Sou grato a Deus pela vida vocês!
While I'm already here, just a recommendation... 01) replace the thermostat, 02) replace the bypass hose (from the engine to the water outlet, just behind the timing belt cover backing plate), 03) cam and crank seals (you're already here, just a couple of extra steps). BTW, if you ask, you can generally find "all-in-one" kits the contain the timing belt, tensioner, and water pump, and will usually shave a bit from the overall cost of the individual components.

Excellent video, congratulations, I'm going to change the water pump to my vehicle, with this difficult explanation that I miss ... Thank you
a very good and thorough video. i went and ordered my first order with 1a auto today new pump and timing component kit thank you very much
+brad standish Thank you for your order and for the great feedback!
Excellent video, WOW! I had no idea what was all involved in replacing the water pump. and good thing that the timing belt was done as well, - based on what I saw, the one thing I would have also included is the crank oil seal at the same time.
Well done job !!!
Two tips if you do not own an impact gun!
You can loosen the crank pulley bolt by holding the bolt with a 1 1/16th socket and breaker bar, resting on the suspension, then using the starter and the strength of the engine to loosen the bolt.
Beforehand, think of which way the engine will rotate and take that in account to decide where to rest the breaker bar. See this video for more details: ruclips.net/video/GCE3P8AD2rI/видео.html
You can re tighten the bolt by making a holder for your pulley using a piece of 2 by 4 and two M6 1.0 bolts, see video here for more details: ruclips.net/video/Pnh0JBq-g3s/видео.html
Hope this helps anyone who, like me, does not own an impact gun!
You always need an ugga dugga machine
First of all thank you for the very clear instructions. I changed the water pump twice, because the first time, I completed it, it just leaked like a sieve! I then decided to change out the thermostat the second time and thoroughly cleaned and scraped all the areas where the gaskets go. I made sure that I tightened all the hose connections and looked for cracks and could not see any. I just finished the second install and it is leaking AGAIN!
Does anyone have any suggestions, besides just torching the Nissan?
Did you torque the bolts to factory specifications? Too loose will cause a leak. Overnighting will deform the gasket and cause a leak as well.
Great job young man!!
You guys are the best of the best RUclips..professional post holders...!! All of those others...don't know how to show up w/their skills in an unprofessional way such a freaking speaking or volumes or the freaked up recording or, all of their dogs scheming or all of those noises, please please grown up for your own actuallties...!! Your a legend! Thankyou so much!
gracias; por compartir este video; del procedimiento para el reemplazo bomba de agua nissan pathfinder ; bendiciones.
Very good information! You’re great !
Thank you for the video
When i did my timing belt/waterpump on my 98 infiniti qx4,(98 pathfinder) my manual said to line the gasket with rtv sealant, so i did. I was skeptical since the waterpump already has a gasket. It hasn't leaked yet after about 2,000 miles but does the rtv sealant hurt anything? I really dont want to have to go through that process again just to scrape off the rtv and remove it all
Hey man did it ever leak since?
Thanks for a good video …
Thanks man. This helps a lot.

Great video! Much clearer. I have a question though, I saw from another video that there is a plastic drain plug on the right hand(Passenger side) on the radiator and it has like a a slot where you can use a flat head screw driver and unscrew that. I guess it would still do the same job when you take of that hose anyway. Just asking. Thanks again.
I don't understand? You install the tensioner with the hex facing to the left and then the camera cuts and it's facing down how'd you do that?
Hope you can help me with this one, I change the WP, FC, Thermostat and both temp sensor and on high speed my temp goes up again, on low speed everything runs perfect, my AC works perfectly. Do you think this is related if one of my pulleys are lose ?? My radiator Is brand new as well.
Good job
Wow this is a big job
Will this be a similar process for an 88 pathfinder
Is it necessary to remove the crank pulley and timing belt to just replace the water pump? Can i skip that step?
+Cameraworks Ltd. Thanks for checking us out! It may be a different procedure on your application. We would recommend taking a look at a repair manual in order to get the instructions for your specific vehicle.
Good video thank you
whats the "little pieces" called a the 49:14 mark. i need some for a 04 frontier im having trouble finding them online
Thanks for the tip
I am stuck on the crankshaft I dont have a impact gun is there another way or do I have to invest in one
did you ever figure it out? I'm currently in the same position.
What did you do
Awesome video, helped me out a lot! Side not what is the purpose of the plastic spacers between the water pump and the oil pump??
do u have to change timing belt to change water pump. timing belt was done 55,000 mile back.
Would this procedure work on my 99 Pathfinder
We currently do not have an auto repair video specific to your vehicle. You might be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to your application. +victor sandoval
Is it the same process for 2004 pathfinders?
+WolfganG This procedure might be different for your application. We do not currently have a how-to video for this particular year, make and model. Thank you for asking! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
What size bolts did you use for pulling the crankshaft pulley?
27mm
Do yo sell the gasket by itself?
What the bult and thread size for the harmonic balancer puller tool
Does anyone know how much of this is similar to a 95 pathfinder? I need to change my water pump but can’t seem to find a helpful video. If someone could link to one or point me in the right direction that would be great!
+Avi Bragnalo We don't have a how-to video for your vehicle right now, but the basic steps in this video should be enough to do this task. Buy this part for your vehicle on 1AAuto.com: 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
I’m at the step of pulling off the part to get to the timing belt and I have it all set up correctly but everything I start to turn my wrench to pull it off it turns and I can’t stop it with then unaligned the dots what do I do
Same for 2004 pathfinder? 3500 V6?
We currently do not have an auto repair video specific to your vehicle. You might be able to apply some of the basic steps shown in this video to your application. +Rick Rodriguez
As soon as I released my timing belt tension everything shifted to the right and now nothing is lining up what do I do I’m stuck
Help meeee anyone
Nissan makes great cars but awful designs when it comes to maintaince and having to repair things.
If you change the Water Pump when you do your Timing Job every 105k you can kill multiple birds with one stone
34:20 Why does the compressor have to be removed?

Great video! I'm curious why you didn't put RTV all around that gasket?! The Nissan manual says to put RTV on that...so I'm wondering how it won't leak if you don't put RTV all around gasket...
I believe the rtv is just to help prevent the gasket from leaking but there’s already a gasket so rtv isn’t really needed
Why don’t you guys ever use air tools or cordless tools it drives my anxiety through the roof lol
Ac compressor does not have to come off.
Why do you put the radiator back after you pulled it out? On the video 🤣
i hate rust
why Owes show the same car 🚗 l would like to see different auto work on because l have problem with liking Oil under need l would like to how what to look for it
