@@jdksdj11 He took it from Legends, but it wasn't the same. But everyone hated that too. I don't think the idea ruins anything. I don't think Anakin was even redeemed. He did terrible things. The galaxy was still in turmoil after that. It didn't bring back all those children.

Cute, but inaccurate. Lightsabers don't automatically reflect force lightning. Jedi had various techniques to bypass it (i.e. absorption, deflection). In this case, Mace had a special Saber form that allowed him to reflect it back on the attacker. He only needed one Saber to beat palps. Rey needed two to do what Mace did with one. But they both did it, and Mace wouldn't have benefitted from another Saber.
Or just lean forward to stab Palpatine instead of winding up for the epic fail

Well, since Rey is the daughter of Palpatine's clone, it means that Rey is Palpatine's niece, not daughter or granddaughter, because genetically a clone is a sibling to the original organism, literally a twin brother/sister. So Rey is Palpatine's niece.

To be perfectly fair, that is the problem I had with the original trilogy. Luke and Vader had no personal relationship and Vader was a genocidal madman, so why is it a big problem that he has to kill him?
@@jeffreymeehan3116 I think Luke had grown up with feelings of hero worship for the father he never knew. The rest of it can be conveniently explained by the Force. I suppose Rey had the same feelings for her parents and would hate Palpatine for taking them from her, but I didn't watch ROS and don't intend to, so I could be wrong.
I'm surprised Disney allowed this. I recall Seth MacFarlane saying that it was a lot easier to get George Lucas to sign off on such things than negotiating with The Mouse
Given that "Revenge of the Sith" came out in 2005 and the first "Robot Chicken: Star Wars" came out in 2007, I'd say Lucas had a of time for self reflection. In contrast, Disney tried releasing films nearly annually, so they probably hadn't had as much time to mull things over yet. Given how Lucas monetized "Han Shot First (TM)", it's only a matter of time before we see official Snoke meme shirts.
George Lucas wasn't a big fan of some of the jokes in Robot Chicken as well, he allowed them because he knew Seth Macfarlane was talented but he distanced himself from the Robot Chicken Specials as time went on.
It’s parody. They don’t need to ask anybody.
They don't need permission to do occasional sketches in their regular show. They do need permission to make an an entire episode of Robot Chicken Star Wars because then it's product cashing in on the trademark.

For those who didn't know, this was actually animated by Forrest Whaley (ForrestFire101) who's been animating on RUclips for years, he pretty much made your childhood with his Lego Batman shorts and The Duck Song. He actually broke the Palpatine figure in half while filiming this and had to duct tape it together so he could finish the scene

You’re assuming they were trying to make sense in the first place. That’s a huge stretch for JJ and Disney.
They were trying to do what warrior cats has done with some of their books. They purposely leave something unexplained in the story so that you have to pick up another book outside of the main series to explain it. The problem is that unlike the original series where mysteries popped up organically to delve into. The people writing were purposefully cutting out chunks of the main story and thus were weakening the main story as a result. It's like corporates intervening in the creative decisions thinking they will make more money this way but if the audience loses interest in the main story then all those mysteries make no profit. That's what happened with the new trilogy on steroids not to mention all the other flaws with them.
Interesting idea for a twist, but seeing as Luke Skywalker saw the good in Darth Vader, I don't think the rebels would try to exterminate the Palpatine bloodline unless it was a squad led by Saw Gerrera. I don't think making the rebel alliance look like the bad guys would make us want to sympathize with them, even if it's just a squad. Besides, Rey's parents were nobodies to everyone and intentionally hiding from the Sith so the only people who would have any inclination of who they really were would be Palpatine and his agents.
@@astralwyrm3787 I can forgive Star Wars for doing that considering we didn't get formal explanations about who ordered the clone army in canon and how Order 66 worked until season 6 of clone wars. That's more of a glaring plot hole than who Rey's parents are.
Nice to see Seth Macfarlane return as the Emperor. I remember laughing so hard when he got Vader's phone call in the Original Specials, it was so refreshing seeing him tear the Prequels to shreds.

I still say Rey being Palpatine’s descendant only works if she’s a direct descendant from a line that dates back to when Palpatine was Darth Plageus’ apprentice. Perhaps similar to Anakin, Palpatine was put in a situation where he had to choose between love & power, and he obviously chose power. But his hypothetical lover manage to smuggle their secret child to safety before Palpatine could kill them both. Palpatine let it go at the time because he never really cared about the kid anyway, but once he became Galactic Emperor that kid & all their descendants would pose as huge liabilities if someone decided to try deposing him & installing a puppet ruler. And when everything went to Hell for Palpatine anyway, that lost line was his only hope for restoring himself because . . . . . Eh, I missed that part.
Well, he would need someone who was Force sensitive, and it could be that he Force presents was so unique he needed some with a direct connection to him to make it work.

The really worrying thing is, not only was this the plot of the sequels but the writers are probably taking notes on what papa palpatine is saying. Can just see the next trilogy being based around Rey or the republic trying to track down just who it is that manned the cloning machines and built the star destroyers not to mention where the ice zombies came from.
I imagine the dark side could reanimate the dead. It’s not as if we haven’t see undead creatures before.

I refuse to believe the guy we see in the sequels was the same guy who overthrew the entire Republic in the prequels. It just doesn't make sense, no thanks to Disney.

Having Emperor Palpatine getting thrown out of his cloak upon his death a second time (first time being at the end of Episode 3 of the RC Star Wars special) was considerably better writing than all of the Sequel Trilogy.
Even the claw arm was rage quitting this movie.
Why was this so much better than that crappy movie?
It’s a tragedy that Disney can’t acknowledge how convoluted and utterly stupid the sequels were, especially episode nine.
I got Free Disney Plus, and still have not watch the second and third sequel Trilogy.

Who would have thought that actually planning out the plot *before* making an entire trilogy on said plot would have been better than making an official fanfic and winging it from just the first?

You'll notice that in the prequel skits there's not a whole lot of things that actively make fun of the movies themselves. And even when they did it was usually good-natured ribbing. Meanwhile...
Well, the Prequels had more intricate plots, since they were basically political thrillers in space. Which means their plot issues are also more complex.
I mean how s**t Jango Fett is at hiding his identity from Obi, the lack of questioning where the clone army came from, the fact the Padma return Anakin’s feelings.
If the biggest issues of the sequels is the Emperor’s plan is convoluted, that still makes them pretty good movies.

@@willhiggins9563 The biggest issues of the sequel trilogies is that most of what happens doesn’t make sense based on what’s established in universe.
@@williamhenning4700 I see as the aftermath of the galactic empire. The prequel showed the rise of evil, the original trilogy was about the fall of evil, and the sequels was about its last gasp as the galaxy was between eras.
I will admit, the way the trilogy changed hands makes the themes hard to see, but I think a few thematic elements survived into the final version to support my reading.

As funny as this was I wish they had done a sequel to the "papa palpatine" bit from season 2 except this time it's Rey calling up Palpatine and they make reference to how the two are somehow related and crack jokes at Rise of Skywalker's expense. Granted any joke at rise of skywalker's expense is well earned because it's story is total shit but still.
