How much should you charge for website maintenance? I've been a web developer for years, and I tend to split the answer to this question into two pieces:
1) How much should you charge for hosting and basic maintenance?
2) How much should you charge for ongoing, growth-oriented activities?
The best way to answer this question is to figure out how INVESTED the client is in their website. If they are running ads to landing pages and their website is critical to their business success, this indicates that you could be charging a higher fee. If on the other hand, the website is simply a basic online presence, you might only offer a website hosting and maintenance package.
Look at your current clients. Which ones are investing in their website? They are the ones to target for a higher maintenance fee.
