    Nice video, Me and my friend wants to make a niche social media app. We want to do everything on our own. How much should we expect to pay for the server and other stuff ?

      @adrianchinghc  Год назад

      Hey Younes. You can use the numbers I've shared in the video as a reference of how much you should expect to allocate. We tried to keep it general so it is not specific for any type of apps.

    1:45 offline apps tho don’t need to be hosted on any service?

    • @adrianchinghc
      @adrianchinghc  Год назад +1

      When you say offline apps, what kind of offline apps are you talking about? Apps with offline capabilities? If yes, then it needs to be hosted somewhere to be available for users to download. As well as the need for hosting, database, etc.

    Let me say this truth. Msia market for app dev is totally spoiled and unjustified. Known to have the worse service markup price with horrible service/quality. Paying more doesn't necessarily means they can guarantee a good job. From personal experience for having developed some apps from Msia and overseas, it's much better to get someone from India or indonesia to do it. Much cheaper and same quality, if not sometimes even better. This overprice service is meant for those unaware/uninformed corporate fellas who have some dime to spend and doesn't care if they burn their project. I urge people do just do their research instead of being gullible. Speaking from past experiences as a project manager for many few start up companies around the world.

      Thank you for sharing your experience. Though I would say not every developer is like this and perhaps you have not worked with the good ones. 😅
      I know good developers here in Malaysia that provide great services. I know I'm biased, but there's always good and bad developers from everywhere in the world.
      And I do agree with doing proper research. That's one of the main reasons why I started the channel. To share my knowledge and equip non-tech entrepreneurs with the right knowledge so they don't get screwed over by shitty developers.

    9:15 what type of apps are examples of $0 maintenance fees?
    Let’s say it never needs to be updated.

    • @adrianchinghc
      @adrianchinghc  Год назад +1

      If you're building a quality app, none. All good apps will need maintenance as well as third party subscriptions for certain features you need.
      You can choose not to update an app, but with the pace of how things get improved and updated (tech stack, app/play store compliance, etc), you'll need to always update your app to provide the best experience.

    hey man good video learnt several useful stuff from you; Ive got a little confused with how you split the 3rd party services, like isnt hosting and file storage the same thing? same for error monitoring, my hosting provider offers a feature called error logs which is included in my plan. Is this the same as error monitoring?

    • @adrianchinghc
      @adrianchinghc  Год назад +3

      Hey! Great question. I separated hosting, file storage and error monitoring because these can all be separate services you use from different providers.
      For example:
      1. Hosting - Heroku
      2. File Storage - AWS S3
      3. Error Monitoring - Rollbar
      It is very common to use different providers too depending on what they provide. You can of course use all the services under the same provider if they do provide them.
      Hope this helps!

      Best to check with your developer on a specific project/idea that you're working with. I don't have enough context to be able to advise on the exact app maintenance cost.
