I believe the reason the 1866 bayonet wasn’t called a “musket bayonet” was that the Winchester variant the Winfield Musket Bayonet is based on was historically advertised as the 1873 Winchester Musket. More than likely Crytek was basing their naming convention on that fact.
Yep, there "musket" was referring to the length. They sold the 1873 in Carbine, Sporter (similar to the 1873 in game) and Musket configurations, with the last being the traditional length of a full-size musket. They'd hoped to win military contracts with it but few were ever made, per Wikipedia
@@Silver_7881That's because the capacity of the Winfield is based on the tube length, and the musket configuration is longer than the standard rifle. This allows it to fit several more rounds, while other bayonets are just attached to a standard size rifle.
The winchester varriant you see in game is the french cavalry contract lever rifle that was used to replace the special needle fire rifle they were using. The gun had to match the length of the gun they had as it was supposed to double as a bayonet lance system (which was deemed impractical a year after they received the contract guns). This would also not see a second request as it was better to switch the cavilry to the Berthier short rifle as it was home produced and was cheaper in that regard. The reason the Winchester was selected was because a fight which Russia took on about 1 year prior saw an entire company decimated by a 30 man horseback team of there opponent flanking them and firing all of there 7 shot tube into the Russian ranks causing them to rout with heavy casualties (keep in mind the Russians were still trying to use muskets). This Prompted Italy to also focus on a magazine style rifle right away, leading to Italy skipping from matchlocks to a 6 shot "stripper" fed bolt rifle when most nations didnt have a speed loading option yet selected for there idea. Name wise for the bayonet is the fact the winchester company made the bayonet as well as 3 other companies, this leads to the bayonet on the winchester contract rifle being the same as the springfield and thus makes it hard to name without confusing the call out. Personally the Springfield has been long over due for the pointy bit, cant wait to have a chance of count a knife rush outside of my single shot :p
Dennis suggested that a reason for giving the Scottfield more ammo variants was to increase its pick rate, which seems odd to me because I see Scottfields all over the place but almost never the Pax. I guess the data says something different than my anecdote though!
Exactly. I rarely see the Pax anymore, and get really frustrated to see the Scottfield keep getting more and more. We should have gotten a Pax Precision, not a scottfield precision
Didn't data show recently that the Scott field had a really high player kill count in the past few months? I've been playing pax because I like the sights and fire rate
Edit: my original comment was misinformed since I thought you were referring to the Bornheim getting dum dum, which it's not, & you're actually referring to the Centennial getting dum dum. My bad. original misinformed comment: might not be as threatening in practice as on paper. remember that putting dumdum on a pistol lowers the bullet velocity, and the silenced Bornheim is already going to have super low velocity. I wouldn't be shocked if the dumdum on it takes the velocity down to 200 m/s. For reference, that's less than the velocity of silenced Negant at 250
It will be interesting to see what happens with so many weapons getting dumdum and the event traits having a huge focus on health restoration. I feel like officer carbine with dumdum is going to be an absolute terror.
Infernal pact will be meta since it counters bleeding, burning and antidote prevents poison, so I think dumdum will be strong but 50% of people will play infernal so it won't work consistently, plus I doubt they will fix the no bleeding bug
A musket is a type of weapon that shoots a lead ball which has to be directly fed into the barrel with gunpowder which was popular in the late 1600s and early 1700s. Just because something has a bayonet does not mean it should be called a musket, bayonets have been used on 1000s of weapons throughout history and to relocate them to just the American/French Revolutionary Wars is just silly lol. No reason it should be called a musket
I think i'm gonna sit this one out. Crytek literally went "okay fuck balance let's do this" and proceeded to add the most busted stuff to the game. I am NOT looking forward to fighting solos that can't burn, can't bleed and refill their health constantly on kill.
I still want them to add a Savage 95/99 so bad. It was the first lever action rifle able to use spitzer ammo, as it has an 5 round internal magazine and not a tube. It's also a hammerless action, which is just beautiful. It was usually chambered in 303 savage which was a popular caliber back then for civilians. Huge update though, lots to be excited for here!
Honestly, I'd love to see a Lee action, and have it function like the crag, but only be able to be reloaded by changing magazines. I'd be a long lee, so it would be 2 8-round magazines. Alternatively, they could go for the original Lee-Navy that used 5 round box magazines and was in 45-70. make it a medium gun with 3+1 detachable magazines that function like the Berthier.
As a person who liked cheat death, I’m glade it’s not coming back this event. It was nice to rack up exp like that but I always felt it went against the spirit of the game and how you should be mindful of your decision making to get out rich or get out with as much of you left as possible. Kinda crazy that they nerfed the flash multiple ways at once. IMO the slow priming would have been enough. Dev's seem to often go overboard with nerfs.
Oh yes, the Officer Carbine with Dum Dum, because it wasn't annoying enough already. I guess in the end it won't really matter since the thing fires so fast and the aim punch caused by it is so bad you won't have time to shoot back or run to cover anyways.
I think that uppercut sinks definetely the obrez category: much more precise gun for medium-long range, with a deadeye option that could be spicy. no perks required. Imho they should balance it alla just lowering of 100 dollars the price of basic uppercut and the new variants but putting them in a 2 slot for basic one and 3 slot for the long ones. Maybe more range and ok. But in this way the definetely kill the mosin obrez variant. Why should you run them, if you have a much more stable gun that costs more but is so much more reliable? The uppercut is the best pistol in the game, above bornheim for the versatility (ammo pool for long ammo and ranged option for shotguns). With this it gets even more "buff".
Kinda dislike how flash bombs no longer give you a hit marker when you flash someone but if the hunter still makes the pain sound when they are flashed it shouldn’t be too bad. Sure thing about the Pax. Its sad that they dont do much about that weapon. It was my favorite pistol before special ammo and now Spitfire just declass it. Hope in the future we will see more perks that buff the team/teamplay items. Super stoked. Nee Veterli animation looks dope and clean
A Musket variant (in Hunt terms) would have a longer barrel and a bayonet, this is just a "normal" Springfield with a bayonet - hence the Springfield Bayonet and not Musket.
springfield high velo is going to be awesome! im hoping for more than 600m/s. Also spitfire with high velo will be sooo good to make it a viable pair with shotguns for those of us who have a hard time leading shots.
I think the Springfield is the most left behind gun. Just because its cheap doesn't mean you shouldn't have options. It's one of the most punishing guns to miss with. At least the baynet variant will help make it more viable. I hope the highspeed is at least 615 to 630ms because it makes no sense that a Drilling has a faster normal bullet speed.
@@dantheman1998 nah, not that punishing. Its reload's half of the time of the spark. Have a good special ammo options. Highspeed going to make it busted, with the scottfield ammo pool, expecially on marksman version.

@eurghunner I've had maybe 2 kills from bleeding out with 100s of hits with the Springfield and Dumdum. You get hunters to take cover but it never seems to get that much value. I thought it inflicting heavy bleed would change.....not so much. Never got a kill with the heavy bleeding.

I'm very excited about all these changes. The Flash change seems like a big nerf (which I'm "meh" on), but the ability to swap ammo types on the fly is awesome. The new weapons look crisp as well. I'm slightly concerned about all the ways they allow you to restore/regain a health chunk, but I'll reserve judgement until I play it for a bit. I'm glad Death Cheat isn't making a comeback this time around, it's great but removes the risk/reward calculus. Very glad the devs are listening :)
i wonder how the burn trait stacking will work. does it mean you can grab 3 and then they get used up one by one? how would this effect shadow? is it per monster aggroed?
Would love to see Gator Legs receive a buff by affecting Water Devil aggro range or something to nerf Water Devils, as it is a perk I feel is chosen very infrequently. I hate Water Devils and would love a reason to take the perk more often.
sometimes i ask myself if we reallyty need all this variants and then i end up using them a lot so im excited, just hope the pax gets something soon, although im happy with it as it is so its not such a big deal i do want a new damage type the most though
I said all these changes awhile back im so happy about conduit changes and world special ammo but i wonder if i come in with a specific ammo type and make it normal ammo if i dont want the ammo i have
I'm confused on how Shadow can be a burn trait and how it can "stack"? What's the requirement for the trait to burn off? Entering aggro range? Getting hit by AI?
they should make the verterlli semi auto special ammo. It would make sense, since the normal black power load would fowl the gas recoil spring cylinder thing.

Which sucks cause Pax is my favorite sidearm lol, that's the only reason I went on this rant. Also sad Conduit is getting the reduced timer but I'm glad it buffs the whole team. Hope in the future we will see more perks that buff the team/teamplay items. Super stoked. Nee Veterli animation looks dope and clean
flashbang nerf is a bit too much imo
Is there a new wild target with this event?
It wasn’t mentioned, so probably not.
Do you know when the next wild target is expected?
Holy moly Spring with High velocity
I like to use Springfield and its getting 2 good upgrates right out of the bat
Neet
If you have dual brawlers you should be able to melee a lot faster and with both hands for light attacks
@@eazyez5717 better skill ceilling than the sparks but it still is medium ammo, if you dont headshot you deal nothing
@@dantheman1998 honestly the springfield is pretty good already IF you use dumdum ammo. it has high accuracy, little sway and the reload is as fast as chambering the next shot on a specter. Its juts not really viable with normal ammo and at longer rangers. Bayonett will be sick though because of the musket look.
@eurghunner I've had maybe 2 kills from bleeding out with 100s of hits with the Springfield and Dumdum. You get hunters to take cover but it never seems to get that much value. I thought it inflicting heavy bleed would change.....not so much. Never got a kill with the heavy bleeding.
i think that for springfield bayonet would be called a musket only if it had a longer barrel, could be wrong tho
All shotguns need flare shots so that you have by that ammo box less cheances to get slugs
Thank you for the spark notes version. Pumped
so ..... scanning for event clues ? is that requires a boost ( bb ) like before ?
hell since the mark starts with 30 event points ... scanning is a must .
Thank you for the wrap-up, highly appreciate thise videos from you for years now.
Ok the event - all great but i really cannot understand the flashbang changes. They will almost disappear from the game now i assume (sounds like a huge nerf all in all)
What about loadout slots? We keeping getting a ton of new tools and weapons, but not enough loadout slots to quickly use them.
I barely ever spend money on the game and I have 11 slots just from blood tribute alone. Only 200hr player. I maybe use half of them regularly. How are you using more than 10 loadouts lol?
@@ep69420 I have 1300hrs and enjoy playing for fun and not meta. I like thematic builds or build revolving around particular weapons. I have a build for light, medium, long, silent, dead-eye, a poison build, fire build, traps, and breaching through doors. That's not including trying to make a build for all the new stuff that they have already added and will add.
Very glad the devs are listening :)
idk what mmr you’re in but high 5 & 6 star flashes are everywhere and completely broken. this feels like good enough, but we will see
I assume death cheat is next in line to be added to the core gameplay.
I *really* hope not. It removes the risk and reward element @@RayPace-r5g
I'm 3-4 star, so that's probably why@@lemoncarton3004
@@dylan_00 yeah you haven’t had to deal with the pain of being flashed for 5 seconds and being spammed at with a carbine hv or mosin spitz… not fun
i wonder how the burn trait stacking will work. does it mean you can grab 3 and then they get used up one by one? how would this effect shadow? is it per monster aggroed?
why was the bornheim silenced in the video showing 1/15 ammo?, as if its only gonna shoot 1 shot and reload right? just a visual bug on the vid?
Would love to see Gator Legs receive a buff by affecting Water Devil aggro range or something to nerf Water Devils, as it is a perk I feel is chosen very infrequently. I hate Water Devils and would love a reason to take the perk more often.
Maybe I’m not the greatest hunter but I take Gator Legs fairly often 🤷
sometimes i ask myself if we reallyty need all this variants and then i end up using them a lot so im excited, just hope the pax gets something soon, although im happy with it as it is so its not such a big deal
i do want a new damage type the most though
maybe a freezing type of damage since the new map sounds like it atleast, will deal with colder areas (dont quote me on this)
They didnt reveal the cleaver? It looks like a big knife but on the last clip they uploaded you can see a guy throwing it
Dude I'm so pumped for the semi auto vetterli
I'm excited. can't wait
Itd be cool to get another beetle that drops the rotjaw slime on the ground for a few seconds
how is shadow a burn trait? like you only find it during the game and its with you for that one game or what?
I said all these changes awhile back im so happy about conduit changes and world special ammo but i wonder if i come in with a specific ammo type and make it normal ammo if i dont want the ammo i have
So, is the bornheim silencer a single shot like the welrod? I saw 1/15 for ammo pool.
Oh yeah I didn't notice that. Strange...
Mistyped, it's 5/15
I'm confused on how Shadow can be a burn trait and how it can "stack"? What's the requirement for the trait to burn off? Entering aggro range? Getting hit by AI?
I don't get why they nerfed flash bombs I have never once been flashed
Oh wow these are actually interesting gameplay changes
they should make the verterlli semi auto special ammo. It would make sense, since the normal black power load would fowl the gas recoil spring cylinder thing.
Dark Sight brought me here.
Felt like we need a pax variant with a longer barrel. Not a precision just a longer barrel version of the pax like the size of the Conversion or standard uppercut
I'm not a fan of semi-auto rifles being added to the game, but I'll wait to see.
Great mindset!
Tbf, the officer carbine and krag are half way there. x)
There's quite a few fast shooting weapons. So there's a downside in any case.
Sounds like skill issues.
@@Dultus Yeah, but those do less than 125 damage. I just feel like the cyclone doing more than 125 would be annoying to fight against. Which is why I said I would wait and see.
Hopefully, the kick from it will negate the overuse.
So now we have solo's that are harder to burn and imunne to bleed. Meaning concertina traps and lanterns are no longer an answer to self revive.
I can't see what could go wrong with this.
Gonna have to up your situational awareness
At the very least, it's not paired with death cheat. I'm hoping concertina will at least still do a decent bit of damage.
Simple. Solo necro needs a nerf or highway
Concertina should still “slow” them down and do damage. It just doesn’t bleed them
Ive heen saying custom ammo boxes for so damn long, about time we can use special ammo in quickplay (soul survivor)
Nice i like events but the guns i wish for exemple they would add perk called slam fire for pump action shotguns or atleast the slate and add some new weapon not only variants even tho they are cool
so is the new veterlie just a 4 round fully automatic version?
I want if you use 4 or less of the loadout slots that you move quicker or have more stamina
Love the berthier marksman. Would love it even more, if you would put the scope on the rifle like it is on martini henry marksman 🤙
Yay, no death cheat!
NOOOOOoooo!..... I can't believe they added scottfield high velocity ammo before the pax! C'mon, the pax has been waiting for something for so long... and they give something cool to the scottfield again... I think someone on the team just really loves that gun.
wait so does this mean they're gonna nerf the casual uppercut to make the precision more viable? like tank the recoil by like 20% or something?
Poor Pax. :(
I think the only two special ammo I bring now is high velocity and poison as these traits render dumdum and fire ammo almost useless. :D
Does anyone know what the teaser was that Dennis was talking about during this clip 0:45 from the original video from crytek. While they were showing that Scottfield reload with the new custom ammo boxes, he said there was a hidden teaser here. I couldn’t find what he was talking about
dumdum ammo on the scottfield. The boxes have to match your weapon, the scottfield didn't have dumdum before this update
@@HomeReel ahhhh, very nice. Thanks for that. Love your vids homereel, keep up the great work man. 👍
Fire beetle? Okay I’ll play again. lol 😆 I can’t wait.
How about you fix bleed first since i never take bleed anymore due to the glitch
why is it not a upermat presio because if that thing is 2 slot why should i ever play upermat?
I really look forward to the Vetterli Cyclone and the flashbomb rework.
Do we know if the Halloween Questlines are returning? I really want to unlock Mama Maye
I don't think so, they would overlap with the event quests and would be pretty akward. Tho it would be cool to be able to get Mama Maye for us who missed her
Questlines not coming, confirmed by a twitch chat moderator, could be coming with twitch drops though
Let’s GOO!!
thanks home
I loved the nerf on flashbang man ❤
crazy update I love it!
Why they need to nerf flash bomb so much? Was it really that OP?
Only for high mmr rating players
a lot more avenues for teamplay, lovely
