It was alright. I’d say this was better than tide of desolation and tide of corruption, but not as good as tide of shadows, devils moon, or serpents moon. I definitely preferred the weapons this go around to the last two. Dolch, uppercut, and drilling did not feel like they needed variants. The lemat carbine marksman wasn’t good. The katana and baseball bat were so OP they had to overhaul all melee weapons. Scottfield has gotten so many custom ammo types that the Pax has almost no niche, even with the true shot.
Honestly, I agree with ya It was a pretty chill event, with the main stars being the sealed loot system which is a great improvement and hopefully gets some stuff experimented with further in the future also lawful pact and the restoration medkit felt great, anything that helps me and my friends freshen up after a rough fight and keep playing the game is a great addition
I've got a few thousand hours in Hunt. I've played every event, gotten every event item, own every DLC and I just can't bring myself to get the timepiece. I even bought the first 15 levels because I was going to be away for some of the event and work's been hectic. I dunno man, maybe I'm just burnt out on Hunt or something but it's just... not fun anymore. It doesn't feel like Hunt anymore. I hate missing out on exclusive things but I think it's time I maybe just give it a rest for a year and come back when the new engine is here.
My thoughts are: the skins clean gold skins are great. They feel very western like but the bug skins I don’t like. Way better skins overall than in the last event were everything was pirate-like in a western setting which i don’t really understand why. The duration of the event was too long in my opinion i couldn’t play for three weeks and still finished everything with 20 days left so it feels kinda worn out now. A thing which i hate is that every gun gets ever ammo type. Because what‘s the point of playing the springfield with bleed when the centenial also has bleed but is just much more oppressive. Overall the event was cool. Traits were cool and the ability to restore yourself after a fight made leaving mid game less attractive haha. I would agree with your 7/8 rating but there have been so many events lately that i kinda feel burned out from events if that makes sense.
I really dont like how the special ammo is handled. When it was introduced it seemed like every weapon had a place. When the weapon was not that good in default state maybe it was a beast with some kind special equipped and other way around. Now it seems like every weapon has almost every ammo type and it just does not feel special a anymore.
Really enjoy the cache system and the “shop” type mechanic allowing you to buy certain goodies and bonuses throughout an actual match. Hoping it sticks around in some way after the event tbh Would definitely be nice to see them on different spots and sizes
it wont, nothing has ever stuck around the same way it was introduced in an event. The only thing that we got from the last 6 events are burn traits. I dont count guns because I still feel guns shouldnt be content, they should be released and availible. Putting it in the battlepass is toxic af.
It was but I cant lie, the sealed cache was actually nice and having it a static location on all maps made it feel like a POI like in apex or fortnite. I liked it for the most part due to the early pvp and if there was no one on it, Id usually go there on a 2 boss map anyways for master clue. Overall, the only thing I hated was lawful pact being too OP and the stupid ghost map where all I see is my gun and fog.
But honestly, it was the best event in a long time. Good weapons, good pacts and some good mechanics without game breaking shit like the "Haha you can't burn me sucker" thing.
Event aside, i sincerely miss when the devs had a sharper sense of balancing. Currently, it seems like every single gun has to have bleeds or FMJ which negates using ‘x’ over ‘y’ like it use to be. Example: if you like running melees there’s not really a reason you should ever pick up machete or saber over a katana now that it doesn’t require a medium slot. When special ammo was first introduced I remember a lot of people were worried, but I remained optimistic and was pleasantly surprised that most of the ammo options were well thought out with their respective gun…now i get the dread. Like the Scottfield for example. This isn’t even really to do with special ammo but just general balancing, but once the Scottfield was introduced there really was no drastic opportunity cost of taking that over Pax-Scottfield easily trumps the Pax in most cases with the general exception that the Pax has better iron sights. Point is i have seen a rather dramatic shift in the game over the course of my many years playing it and it, very unfortunately, seems to want to cater to a more casual audience with each and every update (“event”)
Agreed. Imagine talking with Dennis 2/3 yrs ago and saying that you'd be able to retrieve a bounty at a marked location in the middle of the map with no banishing. He'd would say 'no way!'. With the focus on monetisation, I feel everything is eroding, not just balancing but what made they game unique. I find it quite throw away atm. I try to ignore the events.
I really liked the streamlined pledge system, which in turn freed up the pledge marks to be spent on boosts to existing mechanics that actually provided more meaningful choices in each match. I also thought the two clearly defined tracks of skins associated with each new legendary hunter were well done. They felt like some of the most coherent design sets we've seen in a Hunt battlepass. Last thought, on the centipede gun skins - I usually favor the cleaner looking skins, but I actually really like the centipede skins. I enjoy a spooky hunter/kit, but I dislike the gun skins that look like they are in extreme disrepair. In general I'd like to see more legendary hunters/weapons that are spooky but clean.
you've summed up my thoughts perfectly. I proudly rock every single one of the event skins, they all look so good; even if some of them arent necessarily my style, I can still appreciate just how well crafted and comprehensive they are.
I think the biggest problem isn't really event specific, it's Challenges as the main component of accumulating event points. The main issue with this is that, since Challenges are by far the main way to earn BBs, if you want to gain BBs the event grind never ends. In the old events, the pumpkins or snakes or whatever would go away when it was done but Challenges never leave. I don't dislike Challenges but I do dislike how important they are for the sort of meta gameplay loop.
@@ExTremZero It should be the reward for lvl 50 Premium Battlepass...They did this the second time now. The best skin is excluded from the event and sold seperately. It´s kinda greedy imho. The Battlepass hunters usually suck and this is on purpose i believe.
@@MrCrypto137 to be fair it's bloodbond-skins. Meaning that you earned some bonds in the event and older players might still have a ton of bloodbonds. Could've been worse and again be paid DLC.
@@Dultus"free" bloodbond flow is nonexistent nowadays. You have just enough bloodbonds from battlepass and weeklies to buy the next battlepass, and that's it.
I definitely appreciated the Old Western feel that it brought. The other events really leaned into the voodoo aspect of Hunt , but I personally find the old western and lovecraftian aspects of Hunt to be more appealing. The new skins were AWESOME though! And I absolutely love the Marathon!
Honestly, I'm getting a little burnt out of all the events. I bought the BP on a whim, and now I'm pushing myself to finish it just so I don't waste it. I need more time in between events, to be honest.
honestly, this event is a 6/10 in the best possible way, to a point it might be my favorite event out of all the ones i've played (tides trilogy + this). I liked the other events a lot but the more laid-back grounded nature of this just felt like a breath of fresh air, and the weapons being fun and having their own niche but not insane was really nice. It also just felt like it played more strongly on the western part of the game that I feel like is at times put slightly aside for the magic and more esoteric lore. also the main theme slaps incredibly hard
On a seperate note: i read somewhere a suggestion to make a new item thats a voodoo doll that when thrown, makes a death sound. I just thought it was an awesome idea and i wanted to extend its reach
I don’t think that’s a good direction. With solo and team necro it can be hard enough to gauge how many people are alive or dead plus having the bounty means infinite revives. Adding more stuff like this to the game will take away from people being able to actually finish fights.
Gonna be honest, I'm sick and tired of the specific gun challenges. You only get one reroll a day, so at most you can skip using one gun you dont like. It would be better to promote variety by giving players challenges that only a couple guns are able to complete, but still gives you the option to use other firearms. Something like "deal 600 damage with a 2 slot rifle" so youve got things like the obrez, springfield, drilling, winfield, or centennial. Bit of variety while still narrowing down your choices by a large margin, that way if you dont enjoy the drilling, or the mosin, or the Winfield, you arent forced to use them to finish the challenge. Side point: Getting challenges for things you dont have unlocked should *not* be a thing. All it would take is to have something to take account for what your hunter has unlocked and the problem would be solved.
Right. I'm a fairly casual player. When I sit down to play, I might want to do the challenges as a special goal for the session or weekend. If I also have to grind out a specific variant or ammo before I can even attempt the challenge, it feels like some pretty tough gatekeeping shutting me out of participating in the event without getting out my debit card. I bought the game already. I'm not spending more money. I just want to play when I have the time and have a chance of picking up some nice rewards.
I must disagree. I really enjoy having a 'suggested' loadout direction given by the challenge. You are not bound to it but it inspires you to try something new. I believe if you play a fair amount, there is not much struggle to fill the challenges within a week. Admittedly, I had weeks where I finished the challenges within one or two days and others where I did rather at the end of the week. Regarding the PvE challenges, though, some are very spawn luck based which can be limiting progress (specific grunts, purses, envelopes). Those can be a tiny bit frustrating.
@@greybegood Oh I love making new loadouts, and I love trying combos I normally wouldn't. I just feel like there could be a better way to promote diversity in your loadouts without directly saying "You have to use this specific gun, no if ands or buts"
Yeah, I took to running the Drilling Hatchet with it so that I could diversify my ammo pools and still have a close range option. Definitely need a backup mid distance option.
Blood Bonds still need a change, not related to the event but they really need to up the guaranteed BB. My suggestion would be to implement a 'blood bag' or such that fill during the week to a cap. If they want to remain hella anti-consumer and limit to 50, sure, I'd suggest 100 or 150 if they feel generous. Would still take a month to get a single skin. To fill said 'blood bag' you can do challenges to get 50 total, or from end-game accolades. Could even reintroduce questlines and have a weekly questline that refreshes with some basic stuff in it to fill the 'blood bag' over playing the game regularly(get clues, banish, deal damage etc).
I think they should just add it to the Dark Tribute the way we get those 200 event points for completing the first one. Maybe 10 a day with a cap of 50 or just let it ride at 70. More would be nice, of course, but I'd just like to not have to focus on challenges so much.
the best thing about hunt IMO are the gunfights and mechanics around them. previous events where some could become immune to poison, bleed, fire and stuff were annoying because some fun loadouts weren't playable anymore and it changed the gunfights completely. so yeah I'm a fan of "light" events and really liked this one.
Yeah, I always read the patch notes so I must've known it was a thing when the event started but that info was immediately deleted. Felt like new information when he brought it up.
Given that some friends aren't interested in hunt until the PS5 version, I'm more interest in news about that considering that news were supposed to drop in april and we are a few days short to it's end.
I'm honest with the event and the pact traits.. and I might be one of the few with this unpopular opinion, but this constant chunk gets back over a pact trait I don't like it at all. Sealed cache and the possibility of getting health chunks back via other ways is great if you take this risk. But I don't like doing the same thing about Traits.
My thoughts: I overall liked the way the pacts worked in this one and I like sealed caches, lead to some interesting fights. Off of what you were saying , it could be cool to spend one to seal an entrance to a compound and spend another to unseal it. I’m not the best at this game, so I definitely leaned on lawful to keep my health and ammo stocked during fights, love that pact. Berserker with a baseball bat was a close second. Really like the Marathon Swift, super solid. And I’m one of the weirdos who like aperture sights, so that new Mako has quickly become a favorite. I love the brass/gold frame Mako and Marathon, and the color case hardened Mako is beautiful. Please Crytek keep adding more traditional Wild West style skins. I would do morally questionable things for a standard Krag in that style. And legendary hunters too. More cowboy legendaries please
I really disliked the challenge increase. They really need to give us more reshuffles or be able to change to match a teammates challenges. Getting stuck with a melee or clean sweep is super frustrating. However the middle map resupply was a nice addition that I hope comes back. Playing casually my friends and I fell off around level 30.
I'm so happy to see another video from you! Overall I think the event was good but i can't stand weekly challenges anymore. I really can't. I played hunt non stop since more than 4 years now but i took a break now because of challanges. Not just for the event, in general... i get that they have to reduce the amount of bloodbonds gained, fair enough... but just put a limit of 50 bloodbonds gained per week playn NORMALLY and not grinding challenges over and over.
in my opinion normal resupply points are better than sealed cache point. you can actually resupply ammo and tools and you can pledge. most of the time i ignore sealed cache point. same as i ignore event totems. lawful pact is maybe op. you can restore bars and loot ammo with pack mule.
The event wasnt much worse than the last events(quite the opposite, the skins were awesome). The problem is at this point im just tired of always grinding the same boring challenges.
Being back being able to earn skins and guns for free through hard work. The 1 blood bond per kill was awesome. Took a good amount of time but still allowed you to get skins without dishing money out every 2 seconds. I stoped playing clash of clan because the game just turned into a money pit, too many games are following suit
I prestiged a couple times during the event. It wasnt too bad, I just had to prioritize unlocks for a few select weapons at first. For me it was centennial, which covers most ammo and has the best silenced option.Rival for the handcannon as a great secondary. And theoreticaly pax, though never really got around to using it much. Then you can go with berthier for quick access to strong swappable fire ammo, but I despise its iron sights and rather have mosin.
A lot of my gripes with the current event can be said about the last several events, which is very depressing. There are improvements, as each one has made improvements on this event type formula. In my eyes, I have a few gripes with the new weapons. The Marathon's hip fire is way too good. So much that at about 20 or so meters I'm not aiming unless I need a headshot. The Mako is very, bland. It levers and that's its only unique trait as a long ammo weapon but that is so bad it has no purpose outside of explosive memes. It's not that it isn't good, it just, well, the Lebel, Mosin, or Bert are just better options most of the time, and the Krag does better than it with its reload not needing grubber and has a much higher fire rate for long ammo. The skins are great. The ornate ones especially. The bug ones I agree, meh. Not my cup of tea. Overall, the event isn't terrible. It especially isn't plagued by a super massive gamebreaking bug that doesn't get fixed until way after the halfway point like the last several events. Neat. But there's still loads of other bugs still rolling around, not getting fixed. And I know the engine upgrade is coming eventually, but man does waiting for it feel atrocious. And it being "significant" means absolutely bloody nothing to me. There's no communication of what is actually going to be done. What is being fixed and what will change is still a mystery. This lack of communication on the engine upgrade, coupled with the radio silence on issues plaguing the game, coupled with the negativity towards the community regarding those issues makes this whole ordeal much more frustrating as someone who loves the game. A major update is supposedly around the corner, and we know next to nothing about it.
Well said. Feels like the skill of the average player has increased, or did(?) I dunno. Played berserker a lot. Interesting to blast someone's skull and watch them get revived in a split second and scamper off
It was certainly an event. Not one I will remember - and one that would have benefited from expectation-management. People where hoping for a new map. For a new engine. It's been wall-to-wall events for a year now, and when everything is special, nothing is.
Personally I'm tired of new pact traits. I never even use them and they ruin the game for this old timer. However I'm glad the traits were relatively weak this event. Looking forward to a break of events LOL
I think the pacts were pretty nicely balanced this time. While I loved Berserk from the previous Events, and understand the appeal of Lawful revives, I used Death Pact almost exclusively. Being able to track other Hunters through AI corpse candles provided priceless information - and being able to count downed Hunters from behind cover gave us an idea about how much of the server we still had to face. I did use regen with vigor a couple of times to great effect as well, saved my butt in a couple of fights.
You know if you open your eyes while playing the game the same information is available without using a perk? Might be some helpful information for you. Just a thought.
@@madgrad9853 oh, my eyes are open, don't you worry. And I use a pair of Sennheiser headphones, with headphone amps. You will however not get any information about the sneaky guys in your lobby using silent weapons exclusively, with Beastface, avoiding louder soundtraps. But you will see the corpse candles left behind by the AI they've killed. And that information is more valuable than realizing that '"there should be AI here". If you can't use that information in addition to the ones you already have, than this trait is not for you.
I fell in love with the Mako Aperture. Easily my favorite new addition. I also enjoyed the Sealed Caches. I feel like it made for some interesting choices mid-match. If they keep the pledge token system, it would be really cool to see the Caches return in future events - either in their current form or with some dynamic changes. It wasn't all sunshine and rainbows, and I felt kinda burned out around the time I got the base Mako. I'm ready for some regular Hunt.
We need a battle pass break or a return to old ways of getting event point. I and my brothers who i play the game with are tired of challenges. I want to play whatever i want that is 90 percent of the fun of this damn video game is the versatility and depth of loadout. Let me collect snakes. Smash pumpkins. Friggin anything but these damn challenges. All they do is burn out the fun. The progression style is fine and the battle pass itself is fine. Just remove the challenges. Also sparks aperture when
I really enjoyed it, since it was very close to vanilla but with bar restoration, which is in theory perfect. The fact absolute rat playstyle emerged is not really an issue for me, those kinds of players just always exist, always do the same thing regardless of the game encouraging it or not.
well its an bigger issue when a 3 man team gets 2 dead + burned out and the last team mate can just slowly get the peacekeeper pact and get his friends back and their healthbars to be 100% in the game again as nothing happened, thats an issue.
death pact is the one i love the most! sheer amount of information you may get with it is insane or revive your teammate in the open field in 2 seconds! not to mention looting capabilities and complimentary regen effect!
I like the guns a lot, and I really liked the pledge system this time. The perks all felt useful and I'd much rather have the one perk when you pledge and one that you can get after the match (berkerker/beastface for instance). It was also nice having experience and cash you could grab, it really made winning a match feel good. Being able to run around the map and gather some extra goodies as a reward for clearing the map is great.
I really, genuinely loved this event above the others since you don’t need the points to get the traits, just some in game goodies. Nothing feels too horribly OP, you can always guess where someone is going when they leave after being downed a few times. This one and the infernos are masterclass
The weapons and pacts were just fine, they weren't particularly spectacular/exciting but did fine offering some new choices in what to do. As you said, lighter/grounded which felt nice. Sometimes the crazy event traits can be a little too much. The sealed caches are a neat idea, and I hope there is more iteration on the idea. Pledge marks felt really feast or famine, either you/your team has none, or the first trigger of marks you get gets your trio three... which is a ton since the benefits of the most important ones are shared. Personally I like the challenges, though I wouldn't be opposed to there being some alternative paths to getting challenge points to fill out the weekly.
I personally dont like a lot of the individual changes that came with the patch, nor with the previous patch, but playing in my 3-4 star MMR I've seen only slight changes in gameplay. I see more "high tier" weapons since prestiges allow you to start levelling up guns faster, AND its faster to level them up, so I see more guns like Avtomats and C&K in my games, up from maybe 1-2 per prestige to around maybe 5-8 per prestige. If I had to pick one thing that I could retcon from the patch notes, it would be the removal of the retire function at 25, it only makes dying feel worse at high level hunters because you had no choice.
I really liked looting bars, honestly felt like a mechanic that should be in the game by default in some form. The ornate skins I absolutely LOVE, while I really dislike the bug skins
Taking into account how often I switch to melee weapons in this game and how sometimes inconsistent melee damage is, the Berserker perk was a must for me and it was literally the only perk I carried through the event (I picked up the Death pact (or whatever) once to revive a teammate with all the bounties extracted, and already forgot what the third pact was about despite being mentioned in the video). And it is kinda sad that the Berserker trait will be removed with the event end because melee combat will become inconsistent again (unless we have a Bomb lance or Katana with a martialist).
"I picked up the Death pact once to revive a teammate with the bounties extracted" Pretty sure you mean Lawful, since that's the one that lets you Redskull revive. Death pact lets you see dead bodies in dark sight and passively heal near them.
@@PenitusVox precisely. Which again sums up how much I cared about other pacts compared to the Primal (I mean, I asked my mate to google pacts while I was running for me to pick the right one at the resup because he is also playing the Primal pact only)
I enjoyed the new cache system, but I honestly found myself not using the event perks that often, and I didn't care for the new weapons, but thw flachette crown is pretty fun. The lack of a new time of day was really felt, and I hope that time was spent on getting us the new map for the summer event.
I really like the Mako and I think I'm in the same boat with the Marathon, I really want to like it more than I do. I think the thing I like most about the event is that you don't need to spend marks on traits and what you can spend marks on feel much more valuable in a match. Spending 2-3 games to try and get all your marks to get all your pact specific traits only to die 5 mins later felt like a waste. One event I even stopped trying to pledge because it never felt worth it. Now that you can restore health chunks, completely refill ammo, load up on explosives, or even get a bunch of Hunt bucks if you want makes it much more worth trying to acquire marks. Plus getting your pact trait right when you pledge is so much better.
Loved this event! The "market" in the middle is always a fun place to visit and can give you an advantage. Used the peacekeeper pact the most because the regen is ideal for me. And the weekly challenges where you can earn premium blood bounds is just so cool. Saved up a ton to buy some cool legendary items, only by playing the game!
So I've also been done with the event for a bit now, and I still pretty much exclusively take death pact. Witness has helped me narrow down if hunters have been in an area due to the remaining dark sight staying longer than the gunt body. Also I take resilience each game and the clutch super fast revive speed can catch people off guard.
Here are my thoughts, for what they are worth (which isn't much). Caldwell Marathon: I like it. It's fun to use though it does suffer from the compact ammo problem, both for the user but also for the person getting shot at. Getting back to back aim-punched by compact ammo like a fucking truck hit you is a pain in the ass. I run the Marathon almost exclusively with FMJ as I think it gives it the best chance. Mako Carbine: My favorite gun from the event. I've wanted a long ammo lever gun for a long time. I really enjoy using it but it does have drawbacks and will still lose out to a Mosin. Levering is fun when using explosive ammo on it but know going in that you're going to lose most fights but the meme is fun. As for the special ammos. The Rival with dragons breath is fun when you want to burn someone or meme out but yeah, take buckshot or slugs if you want to win. Flechette on the Clown & Cringe is such a pain in the ass. See it more in higher MMR games. The main issue is the range it can hit you and the aim-punch it causes. You can be 40m away and it aim-punches you like you were 4m away. They really need to do something about the aim-punch in this game. The Dolch is a bad one as well. It needs to be range based or something. As for the sealed caches and unlockable items (resupply, restoration, XP boon, etc...), I really like them. They add some variety but yeah, them being always in the same spots is kinda meh. I could see some features of it coming back after the event and I'd welcome that. Especially things like the 4-Shot and XP boons, maybe the explosive boxes and full resupply boxes. I don't think I'd want the master clue or full restoration to return. I do think there needs to be more ways to get bars back but there also has to be some risk to it and just sitting in a bush until everyone leaves and getting your bars back ain't it. As for the Pact traits, I would like to see Beserker become a normal trait you can just take. Witness should be a secondary effect of Vulture IMO. I've always thought a 2 tier trait system would be cool. Like buy (or obtain) Vulture the normal way but if you find Vulture again in on the map or it drops from a meathead, instead of that being completely useless to you (as it is now) you can use the 2nd trait spur to "upgrade" your current Vulture to now have the Witness ability on it. It does not take up a 2nd trait slot like stacking a burn trait does. There are secondary effects they could add to several traits that would give some variety. Maybe a less used primary trait (like decoy resupply, who ever takes that??) could have really good secondary effects to give people an incentive to take them. I'd also say if you find a 2nd copy of a trait in the world that doesn't have as secondary effect and you already have it, you can still claim the trait points from it. Would let a level 50 who can't get trait points anymore have a method beyond finding a poster to get trait points if they need to buy bars back. Overall I enjoyed the event. I'm glad you could just pledge to a pact without needing a mark and I like the idea of spending those marks on things in the game, such as resupplies and XP boons. However, the most exciting thing about this event being almost over is that this is the last event (hopefully) before the Engine Upgrade and we all know that's what everyone is most excited about.
After a 1 break from Hunt i came back just before the event. I played it 2-4 hours almost every evening and i loved it so much. The tension, gunplay, teamplay( without the griefers) the setting, and the shifting weathers. The pacts where fine. Lawfull abit to op as a solo with necro resi. All in all 8/10 from a gaming dad with wife and 3 small kids ;) Btw. I farmed the battlepass and Only bought it when i hit level 48. Sitting on 1800BB, so its posible to do without spending money.
my p. O to the Event Events overall to overloaded; guns coming in and skins are kinda okay costum ammo is also to overloaded some changes they made in general i think are very questionable for me in personal
Edit: For Overall Balancing Dont know if it is because of the Event or Community swapped but Bounty is most of the rounds completely unrewarding because no one is fighting over it...the people hide somewhere at the other side of the map or do some other stuff instead of getting towards the object same as solo i die and instead of fighting the bounty.they burn and sit on top of your body meanwhile da bounty running out
I did not know that about the lawful pact getting 2 marks from first banish. My buddy was running Felis (I think she is a primal pact only hunter?) and would always get 2 pledge marks on the first gain of pledgemarks each match. I think we tested it and it seems like all the hunters who were "pre-pledged" got that as well, but I can't remember honestly as it's been a few weeks.
Great video and agree with most if not all of the points. Think the event is fun and feels like it is a good mix of standard Hunt and an actual event. Love the weapons. Great job. The hunters all look great as well. Looking forward to what comes next.
I agree with every point you brought up, and i think we're on the same page with just about everything. I would say the Mako needs some tweaks to spread from the hip. Feels too wide for a iron gun. Marks and the boosts you can get in game should stay. If they tie it to PvP and PvE it would reward slower game play. Clear a couple of compounds and have some boosts for the fight over the bounty instead of making a straight line to the boss. Knowing that if I win a fight as a solo as a team I can get health and ammo back if I'm careful and at the cost of some time is great and let's me stay in the match. I'd also like to see play tested but could work as an expansion to the mark bonuses is an uncommon, expensive, but very short Dark Sight boost for pledge marks. 2 seconds max, for 4 marks. With this you'd pretty much have to pick rolling up to a compound fully stocked after a fight or be able to get intel on how many are in the boss compound and their rough location. All in all this was a good event for me, and introduced mechanics that I want to see stay.
Before watching the video, I'll say I really loved this event. The new weapons are incredibly good additions, especially the Marathon with its good cycle time and very good iron sights. The unique perks that were available this patch were really nice to have, and after using them all, I really liked Witness the best; it was a tremendously helpful information trait that gave me clues on whether a player was likely still in the area due to all the wisps left behind by AI on top of helping find hunter bodies to loot. I also really enjoyed that your choice of pact also boosted the effectiveness of another trait, giving you more to think about before choosing a pact for each hunter. Lastly, the addition of the sealed caches on each map was probably the best decision Crytek has made regarding the new event. It gives players many more things to spend pledge marks on, and provides a secondary objective to fight over. Speaking of pledge marks, I'm really thankful for the restoration medkit. It has been a real lifesaver for me and my team, and I'm so happy to see that there's one additional, consistent way to achieve the restoration effect other than just banishing.
For me this event is one of the best that i tried so far (im not that old in Hunt). Really like the sealed caches, and that static location is by far, the best thing (for me at least). That circle just brings more PVP early in the game, and some times, after some bosses too (for heal loosing bars to stay fighting). The added guns are WAY better than last event with some ''spammer'' weapons and being honest, i think we already have enough guns after that last add.
This was the first update that really felt underwhelming to me. I think the event formula is getting stale. I’m perfectly fine with less frequent updates if they are more substantial
When I'm not playing with friends, I play solo. I've been SPOILED by the Primal pact + Beastface. The ability to speed through a map without worrying about animal positions was great for stealthily approaching teams. The doubled melee damage helped make up for the lack of teammates during boss fights as well. When playing with friends I used the Death pact. The quick revive was so useful. I lost count of the amount of times the ability to run over to my teammate in the middle of a gunfight and pick them up ended up winning us the fight. I rarely used the Lawful pact. I used it primarily when I was down chunks and we knew we were going to go to another fight. I would pledge Lawful with hopes of looting someone to get health back.
If i could only ask for one thing it would be the ability to get health bars back from looting while removing the red skull revive. Besides that i enjoyed the new use of pledge marks and the new weapons, the sealed cache after the initial craze felt a bit meh. Also being able to loot bodeis for ammo was nice. Anyway Home it is good to have you back.
for the poison/light hunters we all bought full-on bugs. fire bug, normal bug. Mosqito 1 is in the air and on a mission to just get me my progress. also hell yeah for the golden and gunsmith theme skins!
Honestly it kinda felt like filler content to me, like they were trying to push back the engine update but didn't want people to be upset. The sealed cache system is pretty cool and I liked how the new traits worked. But overall this felt like one of the weakest events yet. The guns are cool, the skins are great, but I would've preferred a few months of "normal" hunt instead of this event. Ps levering with explosive mako is fun. Bad but super fun!
It was pretty standard, nothing crazy. I wish they went a little bit more "overboard" like a bit more extreme events. Also the whole peacekeeper thing just meant people waiting in bushes for you to leave so they can pick up, restore bars, and come back/leave. It encourages passive, ratty gameplay. And I think that crytek has been encouraging this gameplay a LOT in the last events. And it's not the kind of lobbies I enjoy.
My favorite change is decreased damage of melee tools to bosses and spawn rate of environment melee tools. It freshened the meta for me and incited to use talons and bayonets more often, or plan ahead and bring axe from stashes and memorized fixed world spawns. My least favorite change is that you burn 50 hp for redskull revive now regardless, have you bounty or not. At first I even thought it is a bug. No, it is not fun to waste your character points and/or time in match to restore bars when you won the last and grizzly teamfight of the server. Makes your decisive victory more bitter and less satisfying.
My most dominant thought is currently how the last few events blur together in gameplay and to me not very strong aesthetic direction. The skins of the last few Battlepasses could have been swapped around without feeling out of place in any of the other Battlepasses. I'd really like if we could get another event that has a strong theme to it and maybe some interesting new gameplay mechanic for the event that doesn't just make it get points get fun trait. Very samey but maybe that's just playing hunt for so long where the game itself blurs together
Didn't bother with the battlepass this time around, partially in anticipation for what's next, also not being too keen on the new legendaries, but that's just a style preference. Agree that the sealed cache should not have a fixed location, aside from camping it pulled players away from banishes, undermining that central mechanic as a draw for combat. I like the addition of the Marathon. Having a cheap and forgiving rifle for newer players or just to mess around on a budget run. Also it sounds better than the Winnie XD
I'm surprised you didn't comment on the new boss vs melee tool meta rework. It has highly improved the viability of all weapon slot melee/melee variants and made the Mako claw a fast favorite of mine (not to mention being able to trade with a katana with one melee click). I do wish that sealed caches would stick around in a more simplified state. The ability to get bars back has really shaken things up and given players better options than just leaving, which translates to longer, more interesting games. Lawbringer was easily the best pact, though not always the most interesting. The amount of times I turned a fight around by looting bars back off of corpses was kind of crazy. Crazy in the kind of way that either nobody should be able to or everybody should be able to. I also ended up leaving a game with bounty as a solo, having been downed 7 times, and I left with full bars. It's a problem, and I DROPPED mmr for it.
Great video! I really appreciate you doing this before the event ends, its easier to give fresh feedback. I played a lot when DeSalle came out, but have missed every event since serpents moon. So coming into this event was a little confusing, I felt I had to read reddit and watch youtube guides, in-game I wasn't able to navigate what the pacts were, how to make them, what each pact trait did, etc. I ended up finding a lot of the info in-game after I already knew it from learning out-of-game, which isn't great. For the event itself, I'll echo what you said in the video, lawful was incredibly obnoxious. I play a lot of games with random trios and it's annoying when communication isn't at its best and the third just runs into the woods. I felt like the third running happened a lot, I didn't always meet them back on the map, I'm assuming they extracted many of the times, but it grinds the pacing of the game to a halt when you have a random teammate who either can't or won't communicate with you and is babysitting two bodies burning under concertina miles away from the banishing bounty. Which is another obnoxious element of peacekeeper, you have to bring a bunch of gear slots devoted to burning and burying but no matter what you do if you walk away they can still come back later. It made it so sometimes I wouldn't even ping enemies I saw to teammates, because I don't want to fight far from the boss because if you kill half a team out on the map there's a 40% chance it's a waste of time and giving your position away to the rest of the map and the team you fight can just come back. I like the death cheat mechanic better than the peacekeeper mechanic. And I'll also echo that the growling totems are also tiring. They were fun and added a twist to games for a few weeks, and now they're just obnoxious, because you can't always see them as you're coming up to a compound, and then they go off and alert the team that you're close. My friends didn't like that taking them gave away that you'd been there, which may or not may not be a good thing. They're a little lower MMR, so the already in-game tells aren't as obvious to them maybe. But I will say that the totems make it trivial to tell from even miles away that someone came through that area. And the ones between compounds make that even easier to tell.
You summed up my overall sentiments about the event almost perfectly, but I want to emphasize two things; I absolutely hate Peacekeeper red skull revives, especially when combined with a super cheap restoration at the cache. It rewards extremely ratty players, and is really frustrating to deal with, we really don't need to reward these kind of playstyles more than we already do. We took one step forwards by making red skull revives burn off 50 HP, then we took 2 steps backwards again by making red skull revives possible without a bounty, and handing out a free restoration in the middle of the map. Burning players does almost nothing if the last member on a team runs away. I think the restoration at the cache is fun on its own, and I like how it kept you in the game after a longer fight, but red skull revives should never be a thing without a bounty token. The red glow of the altars is indeed getting kind of old, and while I don't mind having to grab them, I often wish I could just shoot them with a silenced gun without losing points and alerting half the server. Just being able to shoot them from range with no downsides would make it way less of a chore to grab points during games, we used to be able to do this during the events back in 2020 and 2021.
Marathon is great. But iron eye is necessary imo. Also the Mako is a gun I use like the Krag. I bring them with a sparks pistol for extra ammo and it's game changing
i loved that there were more options to regain your full team power without leaving the game. The loadingscreans are allready a big part of the hunt experiance and everything felt tighter and dens. Only negative point I got is the static point of the big Market. as you said, this thing but like moving from round to round would be great. all in all 4 me a solid 9/10. aaah and the storyline as videos and not just audio would be great as well. anyway gg
I liked the changes to how the event points are used. The new guns are great, liked them and used then a lot. Felt the pacts were reasonable in terms of balance, lawful pact wasn't much use to me as a solo though and felt very strong for teams. Used death pact most though as a solo with the last one a close second.
Enjoyed the event, met lots of new players, the new guns were great fun and liked the traits. And definitely a great new addition is the new Cache in the middle of the map, this is awesome as it just adds a little something extra, sometimes it was very useful and sometimes it was a good shoot out location.
I am pretty sure my most picked pact is death pact, with lawful in close second. The lightning (marathon) is enjoyable to use but definitely a hitmarker machine with markers to spare, and the marlin (mako carbine) is definitely centi/berthier-esque, good to use, good penetration; the regal skins were definitely my favorite simply due to the combination of ebony and gold palette. This event was definitely an event, and was definitely worked on but was also something to occupy us until the engine and ui upgrade (not a bad thing but it was pretty obvious).
Yeah I just wish they would communicate more. We all know this event was a placeholder, but it would be nice if they told us ahead of time "we plan to implement the new engine / event by X date".
For me, the hunters were great like Tide of Corruption, the new weapons for great, especially since we haven't gotten new guns since the Drilling, the event perks feel useful but not overpowered, and I really enjoy the new cache system. I really enjoyed this event, but I am fully ready for the engine update though.
- Weapons were good - I like the idea of the big cache point, but like you said, could do with some different spawn points - The pacts didn't feel as good overall. Not sure if it was a feeling of lack of flavor or what, but I just didn't feel as invested in them. Lawful was the clear winner in terms of overall utility, but I liked Primal the best in terms of actually effects and the secondary effect to Beastface. - The skins were well designed, but not necessarily to my taste. I know a lot of people will enjoy the more ornate options though
id give it like an 8 or 9 honestly. If they added a new map or boss it would have been a 10. easy 10. I loved the middle cache and the not requiring pledge marks for perks. Everyone not having rampage was SO NICE and 1 of 2 reasons why i hated the other events. I also loved the guns too, they were fun but not game breaking like cyclone or avto, which is reason 2 of 2 why i hated the other events. Honestly i never had a problem with Sherriff pact either and it let me play nitro a lot, which I never did because ammo. Skins were also super sick across the board, both hunter and gun skins. Honestly the only thing I didn't like was the FMJ dolch ammo. Dolch P didn't really need a buff. That is only criticism i have of whole event and its very small. I am also super sick and tired of totems too,. But that's not at all a Desolations wake thing, just a event thing in general so i didn't subtract any points from DW for that. Hopefully next event removes their groaning because I really want to go back to being able to ambush people with a bow, and not only through a scope
as a solo main, lawful was easily my LEAST picked. using Peacekeeper was only ever useful if I already had necro, or if I was against a lot of fire damage. Death pact was way more useful for me when scoping out a situation in progress from stealth, esp when paired with a beetle. Primal was nice for getting xp on weapons easily for weapon unlocks, but didn't have enough pvp applications, aside from having a very easy bonus pledge mark
I like that this event felt different with the cache in the middle of maps, it would be cool if weapons were there as well. However, it seems that each event adds some new form of gameplay that is cheap to use witg very little skill. But, the big question is this: are we for sure getting the next-gen update and new map after this event?
I think it would be great if you could play the event storyline audio while switching to different screens, so you could play the audio in between games while making your next character loadout without being stuck staring at the storyline screen for 3+ minutes
i found myself gravitating towards primal berserker allways, mostly because of the nerf to melee tools but the beastface addition was very nice as well as i tend to be a very impatient individual haha
I think: Best event I've been a part of (for reference, I started with the event the bow came out in) and like most of the things they've done. But if the next big release isn't a map I'll be taking a break.
Peacekeeper without the red skull revives would be a great addition to the game, but it'd have to be a pretty expensive trait, maybe on par with Doctor or Quartermaster as far as cost.
@@PenitusVox I wonder if they've ever thought about adding traits that can only be found as drops that aren't burn traits. That might still be a bit too powerful for something like this, but I think I'd be happy with it even if it was burn on use.
@@bknight3391 Absolutely agree that it would be a great addition to the game without the red skull revives, with peacekeeper you can play aggressive and push fights all game. Even if you lose a few bars in the first fight, you can loot them back and get ready for the next team most of the time. The fact that you aren't punished so hard by playing aggressively and picking fights all game is good. One of my main gripes with Hunt in general over the last 6+ years is that the team doing absolutely nothing all game is often rewarded for doing jack shit. With Peacekeeper there is a very solid chance that you are still at 150HP if a team like that does show up. Sure you can still be missing ammo, meds and consumables, but at least you don't feel like a fish in a barrel that is easily one-tapped by long ammo. I hope it becomes a regular trait instead of a burn trait so people can buy it on demand. Either that or simply making looting a dead body always restore a bar by default, it would be a nice change imo.
the Marathon suffers from the fact that on reload (bullet grubber style), you will actually LOSE the first bullet you eject and re-insert as it technically drags it over the max ammo supply it can have. it's... sorta dumb, since the Bornheim does the exact same thing but doesn't actually eject the bullet like the Marathon.
This event felt it was made for people who complained about "another event?!" without necessarily the game feeling like it was on it. No wildcards was the right move, also Crytek experimenting with new POI stuff on the map was cool. However, also felt more like "Oh shiet we are not going to meet the Engine deadline" event so it was more like a filler to buy more time. Skins were actually GOOD compared to past ones, weapons were good additions. I love the Marathon is fun while Mako feels needs some polish. Traits Peacemaker was just too good that make others almost non-existent. No fan of the boss melee changes when it comes removing almost ALL world objects. But other than that overall enjoyable event.
@@TactiSmolKoko id agree on that as long as they would have also reduced bulletdammage as well… Rn some teams are just rushing in, blasting the boss with dualis and shotguns in matter of seconds without all the possible atmosphere and tactical point a boss fight should have… I mean, is it just me or does it feel wired hearing distant shooting for like 20 secs like there’s be 5 chaosbombs exploding just to see the boss beeing banished?:)
Let me know your thoughts on Desolation's Wake! 🤠
Honestly, I agree with ya
It was a pretty chill event, with the main stars being the sealed loot system which is a great improvement and hopefully gets some stuff experimented with further in the future
also lawful pact and the restoration medkit felt great, anything that helps me and my friends freshen up after a rough fight and keep playing the game is a great addition
I liked it, i just think that we need something big and new. The game is getting stale, for me atleast.
Hoping it sticks around in some way after the event tbh
Would definitely be nice to see them on different spots and sizes
Yea agreed. It was unintrusive but provided benefittt
God loves you all
it wont, nothing has ever stuck around the same way it was introduced in an event. The only thing that we got from the last 6 events are burn traits. I dont count guns because I still feel guns shouldnt be content, they should be released and availible. Putting it in the battlepass is toxic af.
Especially some way to get your bars back
imagine a shop where you can use hunt dollars found in-raid to ammo, nades, health kits...thatd be interesting
This really seem like a "we're gonna put out a small event to hold over the community while we work on the engine upgrade" event.
I kinda thought of it as a "final hurrah" for the last gen consoles so they could get one last event in.
There will be another one
But honestly, it was the best event in a long time. Good weapons, good pacts and some good mechanics without game breaking shit like the "Haha you can't burn me sucker" thing.
It did seem underwhelming with no really new mechanics. I am wondering if they were also testing to keep the cashe system to include it in vanilla.
My friends and i feel the same way
@@cokeweasel1064 y'all alright by me then 👌
The Scottfields cycle time is garbage compared to the pax and the pax has more ammo variants. How is the Scottfield better?
I do agree the skins look great, but 2000 bloodbonds for the plague doctors is utterly insane
they knew that they would sell rather good so they made "2" skins for 1000 each. Every company would have done it the same way
@@ExTremZero It should be the reward for lvl 50 Premium Battlepass...They did this the second time now.
God loves you all
@@Dultus"free" bloodbond flow is nonexistent nowadays.
The guns really seem like they were made for their main player base. The ones who don't run dolch every game.
I don't play the game anymore but I'll still watch all of your vids. Weird innit.
What? You dont like using poison ammo everytime you play the game?
It's especially limiting if you've recently prestiged
I love the new mako but god you burn through it’s ammo in a second
God loves you all
Yeah, I took to running the Drilling Hatchet with it so that I could diversify my ammo pools and still have a close range option. Definitely need a backup mid distance option.
Which is weird because it has the same ammo as every other multi shot long ammo rifle. I think you just need more patience in fiting.
@@nou8830 Nah, I have the same problem with most long ammo rifles. lol
@@PenitusVox A good idea, would also let them keep adding 'retention incentives' that they are pushing lately.
I think it would be enough to just give blood bonds by extracting with bounty
the best thing about hunt IMO are the gunfights and mechanics around them. previous events where some could become immune to poison, bleed, fire and stuff were annoying because some fun loadouts weren't playable anymore and it changed the gunfights completely. so yeah I'm a fan of "light" events and really liked this one.
I finished the event and had no idea how this extra bonus mechanic you mentioned. Wow. Maybe they could make that more apparent.

More cowboy legendaries please

didnt even reinstall for this event, im glad i didnt waste my hard drive space for this
I really disliked the challenge increase. They really need to give us more reshuffles or be able to change to match a teammates challenges. Getting stuck with a melee or clean sweep is super frustrating. However the middle map resupply was a nice addition that I hope comes back. Playing casually my friends and I fell off around level 30.
iv got such bad hunt burn out right now. this is the first event i havent finished
I'm so happy to see another video from you! Overall I think the event was good but i can't stand weekly challenges anymore. I really can't. I played hunt non stop since more than 4 years now but i took a break now because of challanges. Not just for the event, in general... i get that they have to reduce the amount of bloodbonds gained, fair enough... but just put a limit of 50 bloodbonds gained per week playn NORMALLY and not grinding challenges over and over.
i hope Crytek doesn't pull a "escape from tarkov" on us in near future.
in my opinion normal resupply points are better than sealed cache point. you can actually resupply ammo and tools and you can pledge. most of the time i ignore sealed cache point. same as i ignore event totems. lawful pact is maybe op. you can restore bars and loot ammo with pack mule.
Good to see you uploading again!

So great to have you back, homie :)
large explosive ammo with levering has got me the wildest kills
@@madgrad9853This statement is absurdly false. Stop being a silly billy.
@@spacehitler4537 Yeah you're right. Only half of that information is if you open your eyes. You have to plug in your headset for the other half.
What was the event with the fire all over the map? I liked that one.
@@ExTremZero just extract with bounty while they do that 😅
God loves you all
death pact is the one i love the most! sheer amount of information you may get with it is insane or revive your teammate in the open field in 2 seconds! not to mention looting capabilities and complimentary regen effect!
God loves you all
@@avangardismm idk about that one chief
"I picked up the Death pact once to revive a teammate with the bounties extracted"
Pretty sure you mean Lawful, since that's the one that lets you Redskull revive.
That secondary trait idea is cool - love to see that in game
hate that I just have to leave traits and I like that you could upgrade them in matches
All in all 8/10 from a gaming dad with wife and 3 small kids ;)
Btw. I farmed the battlepass and Only bought it when i hit level 48. Sitting on 1800BB, so its posible to do without spending money.
my p. O
to the Event
Events overall to overloaded; guns coming in and skins are kinda okay
costum ammo is also to overloaded
some changes they made in general i think are very questionable for me in personal
Edit: For Overall Balancing
Dont know if it is because of the Event or Community swapped but
Bounty is most of the rounds completely unrewarding
because no one is fighting over it...the people hide somewhere at the other side of the map or do some other stuff instead of getting towards the object
same as solo i die and instead of fighting the bounty.they burn and sit on top of your body meanwhile da bounty running out
New to Hunt so my first event. Was great, looking forward to more. Will have some tears when Primal goes. Happy to see the Spine altars gone.
God loves you all
It was pretty standard, nothing crazy.
God loves you all
@@avangardismm huh?
And the ones between compounds make that even easier to tell.
i feel bad, you missed the fall from grace
You summed up my overall sentiments about the event almost perfectly, but I want to emphasize two things;
I absolutely hate Peacekeeper red skull revives, especially when combined with a super cheap restoration at the cache.
One of the best events. The guns are great, they have an interesting shooting feel, and the central supply vehicle is huge
i loved that there were more options to regain your full team power without leaving the game.
I’m a brand new player and I think it’s pretty neat that even I’m feeling the ripples from Desolations Wake.
- Weapons were good
- I like the idea of the big cache point, but like you said, could do with some different spawn points
- The pacts didn't feel as good overall.
New Hunt player so I dont have any comparisons to previous events. One of my fav games overall. Looking forward to next event!
Honestly I really like the uppercut precision 3:40
as a solo main, lawful was easily my LEAST picked. using Peacekeeper was only ever useful if I already had necro, or if I was against a lot of fire damage.
It's a shame you didn't delve deeper into crown's new flechette ammo, that thing is really annoying and a bitch to play against
i found myself gravitating towards primal berserker allways, mostly because of the nerf to melee tools but the beastface addition was very nice as well as i tend to be a very impatient individual haha
Possibly even the first 10 point trait. Sadly, it'll most likely be a burn trait, if they add it, though.
@@PenitusVox I wonder if they've ever thought about adding traits that can only be found as drops that aren't burn traits. That might still be a bit too powerful for something like this, but I think I'd be happy with it even if it was burn on use.

I'd love more unique stuff found in the matches in general. Skins you can only get from pistol grunts, stuff like that.
Marathon is an absolute head clicker. I love it! Haven't really played the Mako yet, so I can't say how is it.
But other than that overall enjoyable event.
i like the boss melee changes since it makes the bayonet and talon variants more viable for use
@@TactiSmolKoko true but removal of almost all world objects is kinda lame change, I agree with the knuckle knife change though.
