When I seen that number 30 I was like 😫🤦🏽‍♀️ do I really want to know 😂. I try not to overthink my hair journey and keep it as simple as possible but these were good simple tips so 👍🏽. I just get tired of the ppl who make it complicated giving tips like stand at the right corner of your yard at 2:17 pm facing 2/3rds to the left while drinking lemon and pomegranate tea only out of a ceramic container when the suns shadow is casting on your back to help your hair grow type of tips. 😂

One of the best tips she could have given is " Try things out for YOURSELF and don't dismiss everything just because someone else didn't like it" because alot of people miss out on potential staple products just because their favorite youtuber didn't like it which is crazy to me because none of us have the same exact hair even if it looks similar in curl or texture you gotta try things for yourself before you completely dismiss it and we live in a society were we follow behind everybody too much and miss out on alot of things that are good for OUR selfs but may not work for everyone else. I have alot of products that my hair loves but people with similar textures as mine don't like and can't use thats because I try things for MYSELF. Great video thanks for taking the time to bring this info ✊🏽✊🏽

i agree with all of these but not fully the one about the regime and knowing the day you clairfy and all that . i used to be so stuck on my regimen that when my hair felt dirty earlier than the day i normally clarify i would wait until that specific day or if my hair was dry before i normally moisture i would also wait until the day i designated that for. but once i started doing what felt good to my hair in the moment rather than strictly adhering to a regime, my hair thrived so much more. for example, if my hair feels super dry earlier than the day i normally remoisturize, i will go on and moisture it that day. the elements, changes in our body etc sometimes make us have to adjust our routines and its important to listen to your body and how your hair FEELS not just what day it is for your regimen.

    • @OneSmartFro
      @OneSmartFro  5 лет назад +4

Rachele Smith I’m not saying you may not have to switch it up. But you definitely do need a regime. Just washing once a week is not a regime. Knowing when to use certain things and do something is a regime.

Parting is my issue. I know I need to do better. And rehydrating my hair. Like right now I’m in a natural protective style. The part of my hair that is most exposed needs moisture right now but I’m wanting to wait until wash day. I need some for real sheers as well. And trimming in twist just makes your hair uneven and you’re right in that you probably aren’t getting what needs to get gone!!
    Great video 💞‼️

The information on cleansing the scalp = so important! I need to wash weekly & clarify weekly as well, I put some heavy stuff on it and I have SD (seborrheic dermatitis), so it needs a proper cleanse or I need to bust out the medicated shampoo (Nizoral 2%).

i agree that predominately cowashing isnt sufficient bc you periodically need a deep clean but actual cowashes do have gentle cleaners in them to cleanse your hair/scalp. A mistake you talked about that I felt in my heart was the bleaching/dying... I used a semi permanent red dye done by a professional and maybe I didnt maintain it properly but after a year I had to get a legit hair cut... never again.

I finally tried a protein treatment..as well as using aztec clay to thoroughly clean my hair ..I did not have that much breakage..for years I thought I just shed a lot..but now I know. I will be doing my protein treatment deep conditioner (I use Green Beauty's (a youtuber) protein treatment ) every 6 weeks..using clay to clarify once a month. I wash my hair every 1-2 weeks. Are split ends visible on type 4 hair? I have looked for split ends in my hair, and I didn't find anything. I have asked my friends to do so too, they didn't find anything. I have seen split ends on my friends with straight hair. I don't expose my hair to heat (other than heat from the sun), and I occasionally tie my hair. I do comb and wash my hair, which could cause split ends, but it might make sense that I may have none. It just seem as if I am supposed to have split ends given the amount of attention people put on trimming split ends.

Great video but I have a question. Protein/Moisture Balance, do you use a deep conditioner with protein one week and then a moisturising deep conditioner the next or can you use a deep conditioner that contains both moisture & protein. Or can you do a video explaining how to protein/moisture balance natural hair.

    • @OneSmartFro

Well now these are amazing tips and some of them I’ll admit I don’t really do, like clarifying your hair. I don’t use butters or gels or creams or any styling product for that matter so I thought my regular shampoo should be enough. Also I do have this habit and it’s not a good one but I don’t cut of my single strands knots when I come across them, instead I just pull it out. I know I’m pulling my hair out but I just be pulling it out all together because at times the knot is like mid strand, so if I cut the knot I’m cutting half a strand so I just pull it out. I will stop doing it immediately 😩😩

Early!!! I agree with everything you've said
I thought I was low porosity or maybe I was but later realized I'm normal to high. My hair was breaking a lot and always dry but then I started using proteins and my hair is better. I'm still figuring it out but I'm doing better.
Knowing what your hair likes. Completely agree. I realized my hair actually loves proteins in all my products esp silk protein in shampoos feels bomb
On detangling. Didnt do it when my hair was short and I also thought my hair would just tangle right up but I lied to myself lol.
On clarifying. I was actually suffering from product buildup not too long ago and I tried a hard water shampoo and my hair and scalp feels so much better
I trim as I style if needed. When I detangle pre wash or while styling I always keep my hair shear to trim off knots I find
I perfected the undefined afro lol!

@@alyiahdaniels4799 yep, I think it's that some people don't like the idea of being told that they can't do a particular style. No, you can do whatever you want with your hair, and do wash n go's that looks nice in that moment. However, because of our super tight hair, no matter how much gel we use to weight it down, those fairy knots are coming to town. It can be done, but fairy knots are consequences and many don't want to hear it.
