When I seen that number 30 I was like 😫🤦🏽♀️ do I really want to know 😂. I try not to overthink my hair journey and keep it as simple as possible but these were good simple tips so 👍🏽. I just get tired of the ppl who make it complicated giving tips like stand at the right corner of your yard at 2:17 pm facing 2/3rds to the left while drinking lemon and pomegranate tea only out of a ceramic container when the suns shadow is casting on your back to help your hair grow type of tips. 😂
L C, ikr 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I got scared when I saw "30" too, but I've really come to appreciate her content, so I just knew it would be different from the usual "tip" video.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
lissy S. Aww thanks
😂🤣😂
All great tips!
One of the best tips she could have given is " Try things out for YOURSELF and don't dismiss everything just because someone else didn't like it" because alot of people miss out on potential staple products just because their favorite youtuber didn't like it which is crazy to me because none of us have the same exact hair even if it looks similar in curl or texture you gotta try things for yourself before you completely dismiss it and we live in a society were we follow behind everybody too much and miss out on alot of things that are good for OUR selfs but may not work for everyone else. I have alot of products that my hair loves but people with similar textures as mine don't like and can't use thats because I try things for MYSELF. Great video thanks for taking the time to bring this info ✊🏽✊🏽
I was guilty of some of those things as well being lazy lol.. You were on point!! 👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
i agree with all of these but not fully the one about the regime and knowing the day you clairfy and all that . i used to be so stuck on my regimen that when my hair felt dirty earlier than the day i normally clarify i would wait until that specific day or if my hair was dry before i normally moisture i would also wait until the day i designated that for. but once i started doing what felt good to my hair in the moment rather than strictly adhering to a regime, my hair thrived so much more. for example, if my hair feels super dry earlier than the day i normally remoisturize, i will go on and moisture it that day. the elements, changes in our body etc sometimes make us have to adjust our routines and its important to listen to your body and how your hair FEELS not just what day it is for your regimen.
Rachele Smith I’m not saying you may not have to switch it up. But you definitely do need a regime. Just washing once a week is not a regime. Knowing when to use certain things and do something is a regime.
Neat parts! omg I'm almost positive that's contributing to my breakage. This video was so informative! I love content like this.
Naima Naomi I know it’s contributed to mine.
Excellent points. You couldn't have said it better.
Parting is my issue. I know I need to do better. And rehydrating my hair. Like right now I’m in a natural protective style. The part of my hair that is most exposed needs moisture right now but I’m wanting to wait until wash day. I need some for real sheers as well. And trimming in twist just makes your hair uneven and you’re right in that you probably aren’t getting what needs to get gone!!
Great video 💞‼️
Solmom03 lol.
This was a great video! I loved how well you prepared and explained everything.
The only thing I worried about was comment about low porosity needing protein is a big no. That wasn't correct.
The information on cleansing the scalp = so important! I need to wash weekly & clarify weekly as well, I put some heavy stuff on it and I have SD (seborrheic dermatitis), so it needs a proper cleanse or I need to bust out the medicated shampoo (Nizoral 2%).
Any chance there is a text version of this video lesson😥
Lord knows data costs are costly in most of the Motherland
Jerà II Data is so expensive in Nigeria but we gotta up because we want to learn
Tuke Morgan you don't know expensive data until you live in Zim
No. I don’t have the time to work on my blog. I used to like to convert some of my videos to blog post for the readers
Thank you sooo much! Mistake-over using brushes to detangle😞
I defintely agree with the clarification because I defintely notice the difference in my hair and how products works in my hair; when its clarified. This video is very informative!!🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽👑👑👑
Jamisa Spalding thanks for watching
Thank you so much! Great tips & some I hadn’t thought of!
I don’t part my hair neatly but I’m going to start doing so. I don’t own a pair of professional shears but I’m definitely going to get some. I’ve been Natural for almost 8 years and I fully agree that you gotta sleep with a satin pillowcase or bonnet. New subbie, I post natural hair videos too 😃
Tuke Morgan I got the parting neatly from Naptural85. Well we all know how well it works for her. 🤣🤣🤣
Smart fro Fam!!🙋🏾♀️🥰 Love this Helpful information sharing this with my Sister's. 👍🏾 I don't know my porosity I need someone to check what it is cause every wash day I do the test but it stays on top of the cup.🙈🤷🏾♀️
Thank you .Good reminder of things I've been do wrong.
Enjoyed this video!!! It was straight forward, had a serious undertone to it, and I actually learned some new mistakes such as not parting neatly when detangling. Will definitely put into practice on my next wash day. 👍🏽👍🏽💯💯😄 Thank you!
OneSmartFro, these are great tips for all hair types, curl patterns and porosities. Thanks for sharing 🙂👍🏼🙂
Healy Means thank you
BINGO!!!!🤔🤔🤗🤗👂🏽👂🏽👂🏽👂🏽yes you are a very SMART fro
i agree that predominately cowashing isnt sufficient bc you periodically need a deep clean but actual cowashes do have gentle cleaners in them to cleanse your hair/scalp. A mistake you talked about that I felt in my heart was the bleaching/dying... I used a semi permanent red dye done by a professional and maybe I didnt maintain it properly but after a year I had to get a legit hair cut... never again.
beau knows88 yes I had to cute like 3-4 itches in one year
I finally tried a protein treatment..as well as using aztec clay to thoroughly clean my hair ..I did not have that much breakage..for years I thought I just shed a lot..but now I know. I will be doing my protein treatment deep conditioner (I use Green Beauty's (a youtuber) protein treatment ) every 6 weeks..using clay to clarify once a month. I wash my hair every 1-2 weeks. I will now trim every 3-4 months!
Shainestee Smith definitely wanna try green beauty protein treatment
All these are definitely true and I’ll admit still very guilty of half of these and I know it but imma get it together one day lol
Another good one!!! Tfs❣️
😍Great tips Sis!
Casilda Harrison thank you
I feel attacked
Girl RIGHT?!
Why???
@@bowiesmama9096 it's a joke lol
Lmao
That was a great list!!! I could tell you were speaking from experience. I am guilty of not remoisturizing on time!! Girl if only I did that better!! I also was not clarifying for a while because I don’t like stripping shampoos. But I’ve found some clarifying shampoos that do not strip my hair too much at all.
Timetrae I know I’m trying to do better. Gotta stop play my type 4 strands
Are split ends visible on type 4 hair? I have looked for split ends in my hair, and I didn't find anything. I have asked my friends to do so too, they didn't find anything. I have seen split ends on my friends with straight hair. I don't expose my hair to heat (other than heat from the sun), and I occasionally tie my hair. I do comb and wash my hair, which could cause split ends, but it might make sense that I may have none. It just seem as if I am supposed to have split ends given the amount of attention people put on trimming split ends.
Chenai Sabeta-Boadi I get spilt ends. But very little. Single strand knots on my enemy
Thank you so much for these tips, I big chopped again last year because my hair was breaking a lot and I wanted to start over.
Depuo Mbambo best of luck on your new journey
I know im late but your are so right about trimming your hair in twist my hair is so uneven and i trimmed to much off never again
Great video but I have a question. Protein/Moisture Balance, do you use a deep conditioner with protein one week and then a moisturising deep conditioner the next or can you use a deep conditioner that contains both moisture & protein. Or can you do a video explaining how to protein/moisture balance natural hair.
Doretha McElliott My Deep conditioner schedule is like this. Moisture based protein free deep conditioner when I clarify. Moisture/Protein Balanced deep conditioners, then third week protein based deep conditioner.
@@OneSmartFro thank you now I can plan some type of regimen for my healthy hair journey.
What do you use to remoisturize your hair throughout the week?
yourfavnurseb the same twisting cream I used when I washed or a water based butter
Well now these are amazing tips and some of them I’ll admit I don’t really do, like clarifying your hair. I don’t use butters or gels or creams or any styling product for that matter so I thought my regular shampoo should be enough. Also I do have this habit and it’s not a good one but I don’t cut of my single strands knots when I come across them, instead I just pull it out. I know I’m pulling my hair out but I just be pulling it out all together because at times the knot is like mid strand, so if I cut the knot I’m cutting half a strand so I just pull it out. I will stop doing it immediately 😩😩
Fatumata Gumaneh I used to knot but I’m definitely trying to get better at it. So they don’t feel and seem like so much
Early!!! I agree with everything you've said
I thought I was low porosity or maybe I was but later realized I'm normal to high. My hair was breaking a lot and always dry but then I started using proteins and my hair is better. I'm still figuring it out but I'm doing better.
Knowing what your hair likes. Completely agree. I realized my hair actually loves proteins in all my products esp silk protein in shampoos feels bomb
On detangling. Didnt do it when my hair was short and I also thought my hair would just tangle right up but I lied to myself lol.
On clarifying. I was actually suffering from product buildup not too long ago and I tried a hard water shampoo and my hair and scalp feels so much better
I trim as I style if needed. When I detangle pre wash or while styling I always keep my hair shear to trim off knots I find
I perfected the undefined afro lol!
Daisy Flower yes. Proteins are all hair type friends. But high porosity may need it a little more
@@OneSmartFro yeah agreed!
Helpful vid.
Thanks and God bless♥
My 4C hair girls DO NOT do A WASH-IN-GO!!!! I never did it bc it would dry out hair out and cause single strand knots.
Yep, although only about 20- 30 % of my hair is in the 4c range and the rest is 4b and 4a, I still refuse to do wash n go's and puffs without stretching my hair. I'm sure my 4A could handle the wash n go, but my 4c will tangle up on me and show me who the boss is. It doesn't play that ish!
Ive seen some 4c RUclipsrs have successful wash n gos
Vanessa Williams Those r the same one complaining about their hair being super dry and have tons of fairy knots. I watch some 4C RUclipsrs that do it in the beginning and then a year later saying they do not do wash n go anymore bc it was damaging their hair. Wash n go is not for 4C hair 🤷🏾♀️
@@alyiahdaniels4799 I guess. But all 4c hair isn't all the same.
@@alyiahdaniels4799 yep, I think it's that some people don't like the idea of being told that they can't do a particular style. No, you can do whatever you want with your hair, and do wash n go's that looks nice in that moment. However, because of our super tight hair, no matter how much gel we use to weight it down, those fairy knots are coming to town. It can be done, but fairy knots are consequences and many don't want to hear it.
I never creat neat parts🤣
NATURALLY JERMIN man I didn’t until I saw the little breakage. Also been changing up my parts
Can you suggest some shears for trimming?
ally8558 I got mine from Sally’s and they were the either 50 pair or 75 dollar pair. I forgot the name of them.
@@OneSmartFro thanks
Someone pleas help me I can’t figure out my porosity
Take a piece of your hair and get a clear glass and put the hair in . If it sinks to the bottom, you have high orosity if it sits on top of the water, you have low orosity and if it sinks to the middle you have normal orosity 😊 hope this helps
Can I use apple cider vinegar mixed with water to clarify my hair?
Yes

What are some good protein treatment products for low porosity hair?
I really like the Miche beauty strengthen protein deep conditioner.
Have a video on protein treatments
@@OneSmartFro Thank you!
Is it okay to cowash 3 wks out of a month, then shampoo the 4th week with a clarifying shampoo? (That way clarifying once a month and shampooing once a month is at the same time?)
