With a drummer as good as this dude, absolutely zero need for a 2-drum band. The Dead swung much harder with only Kreutzman. Wow, this guy is one of the best drummers I've ever heard.
Totally agree. It's different if the 2nd percussionist is like a WP or SCI type style, and they're doing something with hand drums, etc, but two drum kits? Lbh, Hart wasn't really needed. Honestly, he added very little, if anything. Only space and drums benefited from his presence.
I’m absolutely shocked Billy doesn’t get as much recognition in the drumming community as he deserves for his solo 70s run. That Europe 72 tour was truly a master class in improvisational drumming.
I dig the comment and with nothing but respect would disagree to a certain extent. As a drummer i think Bill and Mickey were able to create some really unique and awesome sounds and grooves on the kit that not even the Allman Bros drummers could do, and i love the AB too. Later Dead especially Bill and Mickey developed their own sound, and they could do a lot of trippy drumming with one guy adding sounds in here etc. But i also dig the Dead with just Bill too, i love the early days
@@samiam7342 Yea, I'm very happy for him and his family. Him and his brother Jimmy are good people. The whole family is so nice. They lived a couple blocks from me for like 20 yrs.
I’m an old Dead Head and now I’ve got many many JRAD shows under my belt !!! Best energy, interpretations, and I love to see The guys literally trying to kill Joe Russo with uptempo ! So talented top to bottom , drums, guitars, keyboards bass JRAD , keep it a secret for decades so I can see them for multiple nights at 45 bucks a pop and get up on the rail !!!
The energy is so good at these shows. My face hurt from smiling haha. My first JRAD shows and my first time in Colorado. We saw them two nights in Vail before we saw this show. All three nights were incredible. Cried my heart out during China doll the first night, danced like I was in Babylon to the Greatest Story the 2nd night, and held a friend close that had a little too much too fast and swayed them back to a happy place during Pink Floyd’s Crazy Diamond at this show. We saw so many of our friends from PITS at all three shows! Thank you JRAD especially for Romeo & Juliet the 2nd Vail show and Oh Captain at Red Rocks. Just wow! First JRAD show for four of our friends, too. So grateful!! 💕✌🏼
Holy hell boys. Great to see every individual member of the gang just doing their dadgum thang. Thank you for putting this into the universe. - with kind regards from rural TN
I love an up tempo Jack Straw, as opposed to D&Co playing a slower version. But I agree with you. This one turned into a “watch how fast we can play” version and lost some of the character of such a great tune. I think JRAD is great, but sometime they overplay(?) if you catch my drift. IMO of course
The Rolling Stones are sure lucky there aren't dozens of younger bands filling ampitheatres covering their songs and inspiring "these guys are better than Rolling Slow-nes" comments on every RUclips video. Why can't people just enjoy JRAD and Billy Strings and everyone else who preaches the gospel of GD without comparing them to the octogenarian elders who made those bands' existence possible? Ever listen to Jerry Garcia Band? They played a lot slower than GD... does that mean Jerry sucked??
They're not supposed to. This is for people who want extended jams and fast paced songs. Don't like it? Don't watch. Don't attend. But I bet you'd have a good time if you did 😉
It's not a cover band they just play grateful dead music. it's like jazz, you wouldn't call a jazz group a cover band for playing Autumn Leaves. These tunes are standards
Boring? It is you who is boring my friend. Your missing out on something spectacular. Its unfortunate you can't see or hear it. Because its super special. I hope one day you get it.
@@jay-jay-pay-day seen JRAD to many times to count at festivals they can’t sing for shit and Tom Hamilton is better in ghost light than he is with this band just cause you play every song at 2-3x speed doesn’t make it good

It's easier to jam with one drummer. With two it is hard to change direction. I much prefer GD with just Billy. I just wish I could have seen it.

From working with Tommy at a bowling alley in Philly, to watching him play at Red Rocks. Pretty damn amazing!

Oh Gzus! What a band! Greetings from Brazil to all you deadheads out there

im gonna see these guys live for the first time this Friday in Philly!!!
Haven't seen JRAD yet. But I cant wait. I know I'm late. But better than never.
This venue was made for this band, and vice-versa.
Real genuine joy and camaraderie among the crowd was captured between songs here
Better than many a Dead show I've been to where certain members were not on this planet...
What a great keyboard player, it adds a whole other dimension.🎙️🎸🎹
Agreed. Marco is unbelievable... Playing the piano here. Such a treat!

Much love! So happy this music is alive still and will never die thanks to the dead.
Amazing! They channeled some serious energy!! Thanks for sharing.
Just melted my face on that 1st jam. Holy Shit! JRAD for the win!
I'm here!!!!
Should be the "not quite dead" set. Mr. Garcia is smiling. As am I.
Someone turned me on to this GD cover . 9/10
This is mighty tasty 😋 Thank you ✌️
what a ride
Great show! I was there, and I will see them again at the same place this summer! Yahoo!
Bravo fellas!!!
