One of the premier jam bands in the USA for sure. They are the jaminngest of the jam bands IMHO. If you like short, uninvolved songs, you won't be moved by moe. With the dissolution of the Allman Brothers Band, the guitar duo of Al Schnier and Chuck Garvey are (in my estimation) the most talented rock guitar duo out there. They bring it night after night and they never fail to throw in a few surprises or twists in virtually all of their sets. You need to see them up close in a live setting to fully appreciate what they can deliver.
The Allman Brothers Band was a Blues Band ... not a Jam Band ... Just sayin' ALL great musicians ... but not in the same genre' ... ( I have personal friends in both bands and they would love your complements... )
I'm going out on a limb here, but ABB, especially given the Dickey Betts's compositions (and further with Dickey's Great Southern), their live concerts stretched out in a jam band kind of way. People talk of practically all-nighter on some occasions. Think Liz Reed, High Falls, Dona Maria, Blue Sky, Statesboro Blues, Back Where It All Begins along with Gregg's Dreams and his appropriation of One Way Out -- not to mention ABB's gift of Mountain Jam. If these don't provide jamming excursions, I am open to learning how I'm missing the point.
I been a fan of MOE for many years. If these guys were around back in the day (60/70's for me) they would be legendary as many of the Greats are. There are a handful of bands that are so good they never get old. Zeppelin, the Dead, Allman Bros.......etc. I consider myself well schooled in older blues from turn of the 20th century forward. Certainly one of the better bands in the last 1/2 century, that's saying something . Back in the day even chicks could dig the long guitar solos and a jammin band. Sadly now few guys can even relate to the power of the guitar with a top notch band, thanks industry, MTV and the death of radio......Thanks MOE
I was at this show. It was my first time seeing moe. Wow! I was blown away. During their set I kept thinking to myself "This is what the Red Rocks experience is supposed to be!"
Rest in Peace Glenn Roberts who passed away shortly before this show. Thank you moe, Al, Chuck, Vinnie, for keeping kind and mentioning Glenn Roberts at 14:00. Your support and love for your fans is admirable. Glen was a long-time head from the Denver scene remembered for his smile and warm heart. Rest in peace brother.
What a fuggin show! I was there and this was only my second time seeing moe. At first it was "nice" that they were opening up for the Mule but in reality they ripped that mountain to shreds. The whole night was epic!!! Great video.
Eric Solomon: It's like skydiving, or sex... The first time was "great" but really, you didn't know what/how to feel. Sensory overload! Now the SECOND time! Well, that second time... Woo-Hoo!!!!!!

More like "opening" for the Mule. This is a full fucking set. Yowza.
Just saw the boys at Jannus Live outside in St Pete Fla last night - amazing show - had to come here to recapture some of the magic. Great band - great energy in the crowd - they were on fire. Awesome.
I have never seen these guys live!!!!!!been listening for years man.............I really wish I woulda been at this show super tight from beginning to end.
my first time at red rocks was 2012 further show so cool out there first part of September weather was perfect band played great good people couldn't ask for a better experience
Wow. Ive heard of Moe a million times. I thought i tried listening to them before and didnt like. Maybe i listened to a studio album that i didnt dig or maybe i was just tired. But im listening to this set and enjoying it so hard cause moe rocks so hard.
Cool! No you get it, bro. I took me awhile too, as I don't like slow/ballad-y type stuff. But the tunes where this band gets lit and stays into a hard jam is Heaven on Earth for me. I'm 67 fwiw....ALWAYS was into jam bands....since the late 60's even. I gave up the cigs and weed on my 50th birthday.....haven't puffed either since. But my soul knows that this band would be THE PERFECT band to listen to stoned.
@@joelewing4498 heh Im 40 now. My friend got me into jam bands. As odd as it sounds, I never started listening to the Grateful Dead until recently.. Any set of a dead live set I can listen to and enjoy. I don't feel the same way about Phish. They are very talented but some of their sets bore me. I've always liked STS9, Dopapod and Lotus and some other bands. I just learned about the Magic Beans and 10th Mountain Division, and some bands that I now forgot.
Amber Abalama first off, *should have... second, they’ve always been amazing. You’ve just lost taste and are incredibly bitter for some stupid fuckin reason.
100 percent agreed. They sound completely different to people who listen/have seen both. Phish is much more of an Arena rock band that jams. Moe is a jam and that rocks...and with 2 guitars! Don't get me wrong though, Phish will always be my favorite band but Moe will always be my favorite jamband
Thanks for the upload. Can I ask you if you use a hardware video capture card in your computer or it just software? I use open broadcaster, however when ripping a 1080 stream it is very distorted picture when recording even though the live stream is crystal clear like your video, I know my computer hardware isn't causing the issue and I have enough bandwidth. Maybe the software isn't cutting it? Thanks!!
@@DaveyBoyCrocky That would have been my guess. I have seen Warren on stage with moe doing that song. I saw it in one of Mules setlists from a few years ago too.
These guys are amazing. Where is the set list? I am officially a moe.ron and this is the first time I listened to this band. I'll just say this. Better than Phish.
DouglasinPhily haha yeah fucking right this band seems decent until you see phish and realize that those boys are the truth completely different level from the music to the crowd hate all you want but people travel far and wide to see gamehendge once read the fucking book sir
Tastytreysdaddysboi tasty97birdsforurbumpsnmelts phish has seen its better days man, moe. and phish are different are totally different but if they ever played in the same town at the same time better believe I'm goin to moe.
I've seen both bands. I love them both. They both crush in their respective manner. I'd rather not make it a fucking pissing contest every time the two are compared, though. I have seen Phish 18 times compared to the 6 I've seen moe., so 3x the exposure for me live(I know, my observation of the obvious is remarkable), and I'll still go see either one without hesitation. moe. can definitely lay down a groove, and Derhak is a beast. But they are very different musically, and for me Page is the dynamic that puts Ph a fraction ahead. Add in CK5.... But, just like comparing Vai and Satriani, who both shred, it comes down to personal preference.....Different music but equally appreciated. If you were in Hampton, Va. on 11/22/97, you know exactly what I mean.

Great analysis on these guys!!
I’m not saying ones better than the other but the guitar duo of umphreys Mcgee is top tier as well!

This gets better every time I watch it... alhough I mostly just listen via YTM. Caught them in Missoula at the Wilma a week ago and it was epic.

John Crandall - we will have to disagree. I find Phish boring but that's my opinion.

Listen to moe.’s studio album headseed. It’s one of the best jam band studio albums out there and the songs I like from them the most.
love the rebubs opener :)
They closed the show in Boulder the following night with the end of Rebubula, bookending both shows with it. It was amazing!
Where is Govt Mules set?
Why aren't these guys more popular?? Rob, is definitely one of my favorite bassists out there.
I personally think Rob Derhak is the best bassist in the entire Jam Scene.

When I saw them in Mountain View, CA around 1999 they had a standing base. Do they still have one?
why even compare to Phish they are both great
