  • True Stories of Wild Tigers at Khao Yai National Park Thailand - Khao Yai Part 1 - Hiking on Trail 5. Hear me tell about my real life experiences with wild tigers at Khao Yai National Park Thailand in the early 90's, often at the exact places the incidents occurred, as well as other Khao Yai National Park related stories.
    I used to help a local tour guide take tourists on tours of Khao Yai National Park in 1990-1992. In those days wild tigers, while very rare could still be encountered by those with extreme luck or willing to put in the time and effort to see them.
    In 1992 I successfully photographed a tiger in the wild at Khao Yai, I don’t know if anyone else who has done this, most of the pictures you see of tigers associated with Khao Yai are either stock photos or old camera trap pictures.
    I take you on a video tour of trail 5 which is probably the best trail overall for those seeking variety and a genuine jungle experience at khao yai
    This is the first in a series I am making to help those with a taste for adventure get the most from Khao Yai National Park Thailand

      I live upcountry and walk regularly so I see them quite often. Usually they are harmless ‘ Lion Snakes’ but some I see Green Pit Vipers or Monocled Cobras or even King Cobras rarely. In this part of the World snakes tend to be much more active at night so that’s when you would expect to see the most.

      Snakes don’t really bother me but I agree that it wouldn’t be good to step on one of the poisonous varieties in this part of the World so you’re right, the important thing is to know they are there.

      Cheers Steve but there’s one I did a bit after this one in which I tell the stories of my personal tiger encounters and interview a park ranger who fought one with is bare hands ruclips.net/video/9k1rqJNXtXs/видео.html

    Love to listen to your experiences, fascinating. I have no issue with the fees the charge the farrang…..if you’ve travelled that far you can afford to pay your entrance fee(s). These national parks need the investment to secure their future.
    Just hope that the Tiger population is managing to somehow survive. Amazing wildlife in an amazing country.

      Hopefully you saw the other videos I made at Khao Yai, one of them details my own tiger encounters there in the past and I interview a National Park Ranger who fought a tiger with his bare hands for over 20 minutes. Glad you enjoyed the commentary

    great vid, sad to here that there that tiger is now extinct in khao yai NP. However I heard that there is still around 100 tiger at Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary which is in west part of thailand,I would love to see you make a video there one day

      If you’re interested in wild tigers in Thailand I have made some other videos that might interest you. First there’s this one where I tell the stories of my own personal encounters with wild tigers at Khao Yai, there’s also a video I did last year. I first visited Huai Kha Khaeng in 1991 and last visited in 2018. I might consider doing a video there sometime but it’s just that access tends to be limited to a few areas and the overnighting situation is unclear at best. Thanks for your comments and here’s the link Man Fights Tiger at Khao Yai National Park - Incredible Story of Survival

      Nice to get a response from someone who obviously really knows the place. If you saw a dhole there you did better than me lol. Do you still get to Khao Yai?

      What year was that? When i was there 1988-1991 i was actually hoping to see dhole but came within earshot of hearing a tiger calling her cub. Size ofa leopard judging from the prints.. nowadays no tigers there but more people seeing dhole there..

    Seen many things at the Wildlife Tower Nong Pak Chi - Wild Elephants , Dholes (wild dogs), Golden Jackals. Just have to get lucky , 2 out of 10 times really.

      In the 31 years I’ve been visiting Nong Pak Chi I’ve never had much luck there spotting wildlife, I’ve even spent a few night there in the past, just luck As you say but in other areas I have been very lucky

    Jeez what a rip off, they charge the same fee every day. No multiple entry tickets if staying outside the NP. For two people and two kids that is 1200 Baht a day ($55 Australian) (or 120 for Thais).

    • @karlsthailand
      @karlsthailand  Год назад

      Yes, dual pricing deservedly gets them a lot of criticism

    • @Swaggerlot
      @Swaggerlot Год назад +1

      @@karlsthailand Its not as much the dual pricing, but that it requires a daily ticket. I was planning to spend three days in the park. Yet no 'season' or other multiple entry ticket is available. As a result I will go elsewhere and the tigers can feast on Chinese tour groups (hopefully).
