You see, that's the way to play against Magnus 10; get a position of advantage, screw it up, and then win...luckily...with tactics.I love Magnus Carlsen
+Tiviyan Rajan Not at all. That would have been checkmate one move earlier. But the minorpromotion to the Bishop was slightly more 'sadistic' ;-) And a beautiful mating pattern with the Knight and Bishop :)
Why do some people say that you are arrogant? This video proves you are not. If you were, then you certainly wouldn't make a video showing you losing to a 10 year old Magnus. I probably win 1 in 10 attempt at Magnus age 10 (and I am just an average player) . You have gone up so much in my estimation. I award you 2900 points !!
he is not even thinking, just making intuitive automatic moves...Anyway, I like the way he mocks the engine the entire opening and then the engine outplays him and he gets upset lol.
TisfatDude0703 Good :D! Are you able to beat him at 10? Im 12 and i can play Magnus 10 untill the endgame, where he usally gets me in some insane tactics and i lose :P
Gowli Plays Lol nope. I'm 15 and I just started playing chess as a hobby this year. I beat 9 before, but I am unable to beat 10. I need to work on my end game as well lol. Most of the times, I lose to 9 qq
I'm stuck on 10! A very difficult level! Thank you for sharing MC!! You're the best and always will be the best in my eyes. Your tactics, strategies, and opennings are awesome! I just love the way you play nothing like anybody else because u have your own style. Kasparov use to be my favorite but ever since u beat karpov, kramnik, anand and all the other GMs, i believe you're the best. Thank you for inspiring us all! Keep up the good work! If you have time i would love to watch a video of you play yourself on your app at age 24 that would be AWESOMEEE!!!! God bless and stay safe!
Can you please make a video on How to Lose against Magnus Age 5. I feel so sorry for him because he never wins. Even if I try my best to lose he somehow always manages to force me to mate him. :(
I don't know who is playing, but whoever he is, he should pick up some basic opening book and maybe one day he will cross the 2000 ELO mark. It is a long way to go, but with the right mindset and persistence, I think you will make it. And you will next time be able to beat Magnus 10 much easier. Good luck unknown chess player on RUclips!
Magnus 9 is actually pretty weak. There's a quantum leap from 9 to 10, though. I think most serious club players could handle 9 relatively easily, but it takes an expert to competently play against Magnus 10.
alex ok my mistake during the first hour was trying to blitz magnus 9. You really need to sit it out and spend 30 seconds on each move at least. Unless you reach a comfortable position. In a quiet position magnus 9 is not all that strong.
The commentary is so insightful. I've always heard you should prepare your position, and choose the side you wish to watch on, but Magnus narrating it really helps put it in perspective
Organix7he is no match for magnus. watch some of ChessNetwork's recent 30 min videos, he is fast and good too, but he is also 300 points below world elite now. CN and chessbrah are about the same skill, but not as good as nakamura or magnus :)
also if 0-0-0 then Nf6. he could do Qxb2 (double attack on knight and rook. rook moves Q takes N then N takes rook then trap the night winning both nights and then your down a point
Try again. Magnus 8 sometimes gave you an easy loopholes unlike the stronger ones. I played and slayed the 8 (luckily) in 2 tries! Not being arrogant, just giving some encouragement. :)
I feel much better now about my performance tying at 10, and even 9 is a great honor to win. Thank you for your advice and insights it really helped anyway (not there yet, but overall). When Playing you bro a team is needed and might not be enough, and it's just great positional chess that creates opportunities and then 'luck' too (to help stave off blunders) as you really know I'm sure and it's hard to comment and play too -- although your statement was much more entertaining, lol. You can be quite humble. Great app. Remember also, who you're playing when you do Play Magnus, for competition. Love it. Thanks.
Thats the most suicide move ever. The worst option. If he do that, then the Black queen moves to B2. Big Trouble... Will you take a rook? So... Let me give you a hint... If he gets a rook, then the queen eat the Knight on C3, making Check and attacking the tower on A1. The king can move only to the right or the left. Then, he goes for the A1 tower. The king go up to save himself, and then, he take the second tower... All with a single Queen... Great idea. Or it finishes changing the queens if white decides to block the king with the white queen... 4 pieces for a single rook... Fantastic...
In the first game, if the knight forks the rooks, Qxb2!! Knight captures either one, Qxc3 picking up the knight and an extra rook.

I'm a beginner at chess, so please bear with me: At 2:05, would moving the white knight from G5 to F7 have been a bad move? If not why didn't he do it?
yes ...after Nf7 and black replies Qxb2 , white's King will be trouble. Black has open lines to attck both sides on white's king...white kings position is vulnerable for attacks.
This stuff is scripted, I found several obvious mistakes Magnus made (I'm 1500 elo) and there is simply no way the world champion would miss some of these tactics even if he was playing for fun.
It would be great if Magnus would explain a little more about the moves he's making and why he's making them if not just a little more in depth than what it currently is. Great video though, fun to see Magnus getting frustrated at the computer like any other player
It was strange seeing him play so fast when he did not need to, and then blundering away a queen. He was probably paying only half attention to the game.
5:53 that's nice. he "blunders" a piece, because he thought, that he would win a pawn. those are exactly the kind of mistakes, which players who lose against age 10 do often. to be clear: a gm doesn't even do this in a bullet game. in the second match, he played way stronger. so he actually teaches something here, but I assume that some people didn't got it..

I wonder how the magnus ap is created. Does it just take whatever rating he was at that age and have a computer play at that simulated rating or does it take into account other facets of his play style.

Nathan cragg, this is random lol, been watching your channel since paradise, hello guitar teacher

Hi Arkano
Nathan Cragg This is late but an average player can't beat Magnus 10.

I cant even hear what he saying but still an awesome video.

Mexuverse San So far I mastered the screw up part, working on getting lucky now
+pretandr what's your screw up rating?
JC Bagtas it is equal to my iq.
No. Gradual realization of advantage, not screw it up.
If the real Magnus Carlsen slightly struggles with age 10 - 12, how can anyone do 13 - 25?
Magnus doesnt use more than 1 - 20 seconds each move, but if he did, he would probably have destroyed all the ages (Maybe not 24 & 25)

why didn't he take the rock with knight at 10:13?
Because black had queen takes pawn with check which would fork the king and knight
