Modern Art will always have it's place & enthusiasts...but so will softer more Impressionistic renditions. One is NOT necessarily more "LUXE" than the other. As an example, ithe Guest bedroom make-over hightlighted by V several weeks ago would have been better served, in my humble opinion, by softer artwork more conducive to a restful enviornment rather than the harsh black/white pieces that had been seen/used in previous projects.
I hope you read this and answer my question because it's driving me crazy that I don't know the answer! I've posted this question numerous times on your videos @House of Valentina, but you've never answered. Maybe this time you could? You clearly have a style that you love, and that's great. I remember when you did a makeover in your daughter's room and she wanted a different plant hanger in her window than you, and you said it was too "boho," so you put in what You wanted instead. Don't you feel she should build her style because she is an individual? That brings me to my question: If I were to hire you as my decorator, would you be open to decorating my home in my style, or do you only work with clients who share the same style as you? It's a serious question. I've wondered about how decorators handle this for years! Looking forward to your answer!
Most designers have a “style” in which they work. Just look at her jobs and you’ll see her home replicated somewhat. If you are in need of a designer then interview several to see of their styles are in line with your likes. I would never hire V, way too blah (I need color) for me but I enjoy her vids.
As someone who has a degree in interior design, I work with the clients personal style but upgrade the overall look. It should never be a designers style in someone else's home, but should feel like their home, only better.That's my personal feeling.

I love large decorator books! I have many of them, but I buy them only if I like the content. I see too many videos where the cover seems to be the only reason for the purchase. I like that you display the inside of the book as well, and show us some really great books. I’ve also seen where the decor seems to make the piece of furniture unusable for the purpose it was meant for. For example, a bench in the entryway with so much decor on it that you cannot sit on it. I have trouble with so many beautiful things that I get to a point where I say, I have to eliminate and simplify. Anyway, I adore your style. Mine is more like Amber Lewis, but I have bought so many items that you’ve recommended and I’m really happy about it.

I agree with your ideas. Especially about bedding. I love a well made and tailored bed. A tip I got from a bedding store styler is to place a size larger duvet inside the duvet cover for that fluffy, full look. For example, a king size duvet inside a queen size duvet cover. It makes such a difference.
What would you suggest to put inside a King? I have a fairly lg insert now, I was thinking about adding a smaller King insert. I believe this would make exactly the Look we're speaking of?! Your opinion would help!?!! Thank you 🤗
I agree that fragrance makes a big difference in how one experiences a space. I addition to the candles I would add that I love to have a nicely scented hand soap in the bathroom. By the way, I love the font that you are using in this video. 😃
@@trulylovely985 I don’t have a specific favourite. I usually go somewhere like Home Sense and sniff pretty much every one until I find one I like. 🤪 I don’t spend more than $15 in general. My most recent one was Tobacco Moss from a local Canadian company. I tend to like woodsy more than floral scents. A super budget friendly one that I will grab from the drug store in a pinch is Sea Salt by Method.
I wholeheartedly agree about the Glade plug ins, they all smell the same, they don’t smell very good, and most trigger our breathing issues. We tried using Nest wall diffuser (which I love) but DH couldn’t handle it. I finally found something that works for us, and it’s the plug in refills from Target’s Everspring green collection. The Everspring refills fit into both the Glade and Airwick warmers. The scents that I prefer are the Lavender Bergamot and Cedar Balsam. The throw isn’t very strong, yet it adds just enough (non chemically) fragrance to be pleasant. Target’s Rustic Palo Santo candles pair very well with Everspring’s Cedar Balsam. It makes our house smell warm and inviting. I love watching your segments!! I get lots of inspiration from you!!
God I agree about the bedding!! I went on Amazon looked up like hotel white! And it was great! Got a great linen comforter from H&M in taupe! Some silk ( and cheap ) pillow cases in a teal…for a pop of color…love your advice!! You can do Luxe on a budget!! And H&M omg has THE best home sales
Great ideas. I’d like more help with bed styling. After 4 trips to Switzerland in 6 years, we are sold on their bedding method. I just want to make it look chic in my home. I think the throw across the bottom of the bed is key. I need to figure out the size for that and I’ve never seen it anywhere. Obviously any king sized blanket would be far too bulky
I incorporate all of her tips with the exception of only using abstract art. While I do have a few pieces of abstract, old world ornate landscape art in chunky builder frames has always been my true love. So I mix them up.

Hi Valentina, could you do a video on mixing different furniture finishes, especially for the bedroom. I don't want all my furniture to match. I have burlwood night stands and want to add a dresser and console but not sure what color to use and what type of material. Considering shagreen dresser but not sure it if will go with burlwood.
I recently read an article about a homeowner who had those plug-ins, and it just about killed their cat. The cat was obviously allergic. It was shutting down, it wouldn’t eat, it wouldn’t move and they knew it was dying and as last ditch effort, they opened the windows, took everything scented out. The very next day the cat started feeling, much better and gradually was back to itself. Just a cautious reminder, after all it’s more chemical! PS. The vet didn’t find anything wrong, so that’s why they looked around their home.
Obviously, if we are talking about books to lay out on the coffee table, yes, large books with exciting and inviting graphics, high-quality paper etc. are the way to go. However, that said, I think there is a way to do even large quantities of not necessarily large books in a luxurious manner. It is probably a finance- and time-intensive project, but when I have the necessary ducks in a row to make it happen, what I plan to do is first of all, figure out how many shelf feet / meters of each size of book I actually need, double it, and then throw that info into a computer The computer would be instructed to divide up the total shelf space for each size randomly and come up with designs that fit into a rectangular space of ca. 103 in. (2.61 m) height, and also to leave random spaces in the design, which would be lined with jewel-toned autumnal colors and then filled, say, with little lamps or sculptures or plants or whatever. Of course, other more creative designs would be possible if I had the floor space available, but for one thing, I'm not likely to in the foreseeable future, and even if I did, I'd be tempted to put such things as trees, water features and fanciful cat furniture in my space, so I'd probably go with a generally rectangular overall shape. When my selected design was built, I would then place the books on the shelves, with each shelf only half full, and then add lamps, plants, sculptures etc. Additionally, since I don't currently own my own place, I would have the shelving unit constructed in a modular manner (i.e. as a set of box modules) so that I don't have to remove the books from the shelves. All I have to do is detach the modules from each other, insert packing material, and move each module as is. Then, of course, upon arrival at my new abode, I would reassemble the shelves.
Ok, as a custom framer and someone who has a degree in interior design have to stop right here. 'Abstract' art does not necessarily upgrade a a space. It's how an item or picture is framed and the item itself. Not all art is lux, but a a good print or even poster print can look very lux when done correctly.

I can vouch for the diffusers-I get loads of compliments whenever people come over. Question: would it look strange for a pair of velvet curtains in a room with no other velvet in it? I really want a set of emerald green ones for my room.

The duvet is a thinner material that buttons over or zips over your comforter to keep it clean. My tip is to buy a size smaller duvet than what your comforter is to make it more luxe. Have a queen comforter, put it inside a full size duvet. The duvet is easily removable and washable, so the comforter can be washed less.

I hope Valentina would care if you watched or not, especially since I think there's some validity to your comment. I have watched her channel for a long time now, and there are several decorating themes that have become a little stale, such as books, pillows, throws, and candles. Valentina has a lot of talent and Jack is a delight, but I think they've gotten into a little bit of a rut. I suspect that they have become so busy and successful (good for them) that they have less time to devote to their youtube videos.

Love your style and your ideas but please tone down on that over energetic giggly speech and I have actually stopped watching most of your videos because of all that awkward giggly banter. Not everything needs to be fun and funny and high energy.
Some people are just like that. It can be they’re just in a good mood and enjoying life, or it’s a nervous laugh, or maybe she’s just a good person? I have a cousin that giggles like that almost after everything she says. My cousins giggling is genuine. My cousin went through abuse though and now after getting out of that situation, she’s just happy and everything fills her heart with joy… like literally everything. V’s laugh isn’t for everyone but it definitely doesn’t bother me. Don’t tell someone to tone down their shine because you never know what they survived and why they smile and laugh so much.

@louisebaker3793 Did she state Homegoods and Amazon were high-end? I think she stated you can get reasonably priced sculptures from there without the high-end Arhuas or RH prices.

Love your style and your ideas but please tone down on that over energetic giggly speech and I have actually stopped watching most of your videos because of all that awkward giggly banter. Not everything needs to be fun and funny and high energy.

Some people are just like that. It can be they’re just in a good mood and enjoying life, or it’s a nervous laugh, or maybe she’s just a good person? I have a cousin that giggles like that almost after everything she says. My cousins giggling is genuine. My cousin went through abuse though and now after getting out of that situation, she’s just happy and everything fills her heart with joy… like literally everything. V’s laugh isn’t for everyone but it definitely doesn’t bother me. Don’t tell someone to tone down their shine because you never know what they survived and why they smile and laugh so much.
