I am so thrilled that people know of the great Russian pianist Alexander Malofeev. I think Alexander has some maturing to do. He was only 17 or 18 when he played this. There are other great Russian pianists in process. Alexander Sinchuk Plays flawlessly. And also the French pianist Alexandre Kantorow who won the Tchkovsky ub 2019. They are all incredible. Kantorow plays so absolutely beautifully, perhaps the most musical I have ever heard. His recording of the Rachmaninoff Piano Sonata No. 1 is so so beautiful.... Thank you tituscaesar for this posting.
Alexander Malofeev (21 in Oct. 2022) played Rach 3 in Frankfurt Sept. 2022. He lives in Berlin now because of political situation. He missses his land, and beloved family. At the end of his Frankfurt concert tears were running down his cheeks. (youtube) Heart breaking. This humble and gifted young genius.
@@tituscaesar Yes, link is correct. Rach 3 in Frankfurt, scroll to 39.min and look. I have a large PC screen and I saw it also earlier during this performance. Look how that lovely conductor hugs him. I have 2 grandsons same age and I met Alex in Amsterdam. So kind and humble (and sad) he is. Bloody heartbreaking situation for him.
I had never took notice of the Rach 3 as my knowledge of classical music is from Warner Bros. Mostly from Looney Tunes. But the minute I heard it here I recalled hearing it in the party scene in Dr. Zhivago. A movie I watch far too often.
The young pianist should have got the Academy Award.
I’d forgotten what an profoundly beautiful, complex, sad, moving production this was! Just these few scenes bring me to tears😢!
Let the most passionate gorgeous river of sound wash over us, engulf us in its sublime embrace :)
This is Insane because it's a Real Story!!! 💯
Alexander Malofeev is a true gift to this world.(Holland- 2022 )

I'm so happy he's safe living in Berlin. Is this the concert? I don't see any tears ruclips.net/video/PQyErbTpSN0/видео.html

John Gielgud was 91 when they shot this. Legend.

Wow
Is that his dad listening on the radio?
No no. A live recording.
Yes there was a short scene in this where his dad was listening on the radio
His Dad destroyed him...
Wait did he die at the end?
No. From the film 'Shine.' Go see it (if you want to see why Geoffrey Rush won his Oscar).
His father died, they visited the cemetery
We all do.
Rather poor sound.
That's intentional. Hearing the music through the din of everyday life was difficult.
Not rather ....
