HELLO I AM DAVID! is the first ever documentary about this exceptional pianist; a wunderkind whose career seemed to be over after a nervous breakdown. Yet through the healing power of music and his great love for his wife Gillian, he fought his way back to normal life and the concert stage. This film allows us to witness David Helfgott's infectious passion and impulsiveness. He plays what he feels, he says what he thinks, and touches people in the true sense of the word.
Pure and direct in both his playing and character - this moving, inspiring film gives us a revealing insight into David Helfgott's personality and life in music. What and awesome show. After watching this, I realized what a wonderful job Mr. Rush did portraying him in Shine, both brilliant indeed!
The young actor playing him should have been given an acting award, too!!!

What a loving man. The movie Shine is still one of the most beautiful movies I have ever seen. According to David himself Geoffrey rush did a fair portraite of him which is not the case in other Self-portraiting movies

I watched the film "Shine" again today, which is in my dvd collection. What a lovely man and his wife is incredible. What a talent he is and such a loving soul. I found this because I wanted to know how he is doing now and Im glad that he still plays and is happy.

He is 75 and his wife, Gillian, died last year at the age of 90.

Es un extraordinario pianista, me pregunto qué medicación tendrá pautada; me pregunto si habría tenido el mismo éxito o ser conocido, de no ser por su estado anímico.
