About the series:
Unprecedented access was given to Channel NewsAsia inside the Children’s ICU at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital.
This five-part series documents life inside the Children’s ICU - the daily struggle of children as young as three years old who have to fight for their right to live; the emotional turmoil this elicits in their parents; and the men and women in white who stoically wage wars against life-threatening diseases so that these children can grow up.
That lady asian doctor, can i say i love how she is being realistic and being so positive? Her quote at the end got me so inspirational
It would be nice if this was turned into a series, we need more appreciation for the doctors and nurses helping our children.. also, thank you for all of the parents who willingly allowed the camera to shoot for this short video. god bless, may all the kids imporve and get better..

My dads life was saved in the ICU yesterday! I will be forever grateful or the amazing staff that worked miracles. I can not even imagine working there, let alone a children’s ICU.
My bf works in ICU. i'm always surprised as to how people can work under such conditions! I'm going for nursing, but I don't think ICU is for me. Only a certain type of particular people can be one. I'm so glad about your dad! Hope he is doing well :)
naruhinastarr I think you have to be born to be able to work there. Nursing on the 'normal' ward is hard enough! Good luck for your path!
And thank you for asking, my dad is doing great, back at home and getting better every day! 😊
Good
Sadly where i live the doctors are absolute trash and dont seem to care about patients, my dad passed away last year July in the ICU
Den Den Blu I am so sorry for your loss...
Kudos to the Doctors and Nurses! Especially the Paediatrics, although they are paid lesser than other specialization, they still choose to pursue that specialization because of their passion.
Been there, and after 15 years now healthy and jumping. Thanks to all the Doctors and Nurses in the Children's ICU and ofc Prof. Tan! God bless the Kids, Doctors and Nurses.
Those doctors have saved my life.
I want to thank not only the doctors but to those people who work behind them such as nurses, Medical technologists (the ones who examine bloods, urine etc), pharmacists, rad techs.. everyone who contribute to the improvement of life. Kudos to all of you
I was born in this hospital 13 years ago, and would really like to thank all the Nurses, Doctors and Surgeons for helping me through my difficult birth.
I was born 24 weeks + 4 days and had to have a tube (I assume it’s a ventilation tube) to be inserted on my neck due to my inability to breathe. I had to be stuck in the ICU for 6 months.
That tube was stuck in my neck for 3 years. After 7 operations later, I am healthy again.
I have chronic lungs disease, that I doubt will be curable, but I’m thankful I’m still alive.
You are so strong I wish the best for you
This gives me more reason to become a better doctor in the future. Forget about the burnouts in med school. Every eye bag is a step closer to become a better doctor, a better you and it's totally worth it. To my future patients, your doctor here is still currently studying and doing his best for y'all! Wait for me in a couple of years and stay strong. 💕
Hi. Any updates on your med school? It’s been a couple years :)
peds need to be paid more. These people have the lowest average salary out of all medical specialties
Jaehong Song Paediatricians do not work in the PICU. Critical Care doctors work in the PICU
The moment I heard the system for his heart stop I swear my eyes were so huge my mouth was wide open I almost started crying but gladly he loved thank god for letting this child live another day🤧💓
I cannot begin to imagine having to decide when/how to let my beloved child go ..I tend to think that if his life will be of continuing cruel sufferings..it is time..I hope my children understood me when I asked them not to let me survive in extreme pain..like the sufferings I have endured for last 20years ..also, parents please talk to your children about this subject, your wishes..courage to all parents who must make these most difficult decisions as nurturing couple/parent(s) ..grieve with no guilt ..know you did your best to not allow them to live a desperate life in often unspeakable pain and discomfort..Bless all of you! moi, Canada 🇨🇦
To all doctors and nurses, thank you! May God bless all of your good deeds🇲🇾
Amazing doctors, nurses, and other essential medical staff entirely committed to their craft of healing. God Bless them, angels in scrubs. 😗😇💪
My 9 month old daughter was in the ICU for 1 week and she passed away. She went into respiratory failure. Watching this brings back such horrible memories. 😢 I miss her so much.
I see that kid in your pic.
I’m so sorry ❤️❤️❤️

Massive Respect for Healthcare workers ... ur life has so much purpose and what you go though on a daily basis is just unbelievable.
Heartfelt Thanks !!
So much respect for the doctors...
Thank God for the incredible medical professionals for the lucky born in the Singapore and not less fortunate countries.
"The Guardians and last line of defense." I have such a fear of hospitals but the respect for these nurses and doctors. Its incredible.
My brother was taken to the icu when we were biking down a hill like road when we were 6 years old my brother was going down the road really fast he lost control and fell to the ground and got injured everywhere, i was in a state of shock and after i was crying endlessley because i saw my brothers whole face bleeding and he had all his front teeth gone , it was so sad to see my twin hurt like that and it was really traumatizing too because nobody wants to see there beloved twin brother get really hurt in a accident
Wow.....it's great your sacrifice and hard work is unbelievable really beautiful and touching.....God bless you all.
Love goes to all of you!
why would someone even dislike this vid??😢
Ikr 😢
I did 😂
You know why? Because they are heart-less. They are not human.
Maybe cause they found it scary i don’t know
@@TheSexhaver2625 wow you're such a funny, edgy and cool guy 🙄🖕
I do take my hat off for you guys. Keep up the good work and thanks for helping other people
This should be made into a series.\
A big 👏 and thanks to the all medical staff 🙌
Thank you doctors at KKH and those that work tiresomely with good intentions.
Taking care of sick children must be very hard. Every hundred successful cases, there must be a few bad cases when the child didnt make it or die on the table. I wonder how the nurses and doctors deal with that kind of pressure? How they moving on from that. We all know it is not their fault but the feeling though.
4:07 is the thing that kind of gets me. The baby toy hanging in front of the heart monitor... Man. I don't know, kids mean life to me, but EKG's remind me of death. It's so jarring and so tragic when a kid is sick. I appreciate that the doctors are trying to comfort them with toys.
God bless you all the doctors and nurses
This inspires me to become a doctor, for everyone especially children!
Bless the doctors. Thank you Lord!!! 😊
Props to these doctors and nurses. I could never do what they do everyday.
I'm very very proud of you
Doctor and Nurse
Heads up too all doctor and nurse...🙏🙏
Marcus complaining bitterly about the lack of juice must be the happiest moment for his mom and the doctors 😅😅
Parents, this is why you give your children vaccines when they are young. That may not protect them from everything but it will help there system take in sicknesses and get them out very fast. BTW I LOVE THAT HOSPITAL THEY ARE SO KIND
Poor babies, god bless all of them. ❤️
they’re superheros and no one can tell otherwise
I have been in the children’s ICU for my kidney but now thankfully I am ok now.
I was there in the icu once after an asthma attack
Aislynwiz101 how did that happen(if you don't mind me asking)
HX Malcolm I was in the ICU after my lung partially collapsed.
How baf can it get..? XD
I never went a hospital only been to a clinic for 1 flu shot and 2 ear infection
@@rose.6022 lucky the hospital sucks lol
God bless doctors and Marcus parents ......
Thanks for your blessings. My nephew's cardiac check up in last month indicated close to full recovery and medication is now reduced by 50%....
Cynthia Cleopatra Loh oh my god i’m so happy he’s getting slowly better💗

I inspire to be a doctor but I’m scared of blood so I have no idea what to do now...
bruh me too
You must handle it, but if you can't, you can talk to psychiatrist.
Andrea Lau yoou can be a family physician or also known as a family doctor you still get high salary and theres mosty no blood since its just check ups examines and injections
AllAnimeMusic until someone comes in needing stitches removed :)
Same, i did aspired to be a Pediatrics Doctor, but looking at ny results...😂
Then, i wanted to be a nurse.
But there was once, i admitted to the emergency dept, i was shivering so hard, perspiring so profusely and nearly fainted looking at them poking the needle in me and sucking out my blood.
I decided, healthcare isn't for me x.x
But we wouldn't need to be a healthcare professional to play a part. We can do small stuff like donating to healthcare research, helping some needy desperate families in the hospital or even being a psychologist. If one day you are able to, you could start research centres and scholarships etc... etc... you do not have to do it directly by yourself.
God bless them
May god bless them
When my mom was still in college she was in medical school wanting to become a doctor. I think about in her sophomore year of college she completely changed her profession. I asked my dad why my mom never became a doctor, he answered to me “it’s because she can’t handle seeing people die”, now I would love to become a nurse or doctor but I didn’t realize at the time that would if it was serious or what if the patient died right in front of your eyes, what would I do...? I still really want to become a nurse or doctor, but I have to cope with my fear of seeing patients die or having to deliver devastating news to the family if the patient might die or has a serious illness, or if they have a rare syndrome, or if we just don’t know what’s wrong with them...
Cake, Its big and hard work to be a doctor. Or a nurse. And I plan to be a doctor e.e Well #1 is that YOU SHOULDN'T BE SCARED OF BLOOD. You will see it everytime. Trust me.
Don’t worry I’m not scared of blood, and I give good luck to you becoming a doctor
You just have to focus on how many people can save and how your skills even if you can't save everyone, can save someone.
I have been to the ICU when i was four,im 11/12 now so i have only a few memmories.I was taken to the emergeny room because my skin was yellow and peachish, when we got there they checked my blood presure and more and finally they looked shocked and took me to the ICU.I have a really bad liver damadge which caused loss of blood which explains the yellow skin.I stayed there for 9 or 10 days before i could go home. I also have G6PD. Can some please explain this to me?
It is apparently a bad disease. But then, You just need to take care of your liver nothing will be serious. Expect to live till 50' Maybe.
and one day I be a doctor and I will make my dad and mom dream come true
you all are amazing humans
get well soon
Excellent. I can't fault it.
ICU + kids = dramatic music not required. We already know the score 😢
0:53 I got what you mean but shouldn't it be goal keeper instead of gatekeeper?
Here is my problem,WHY DONT WE GET TO WEAR UNDERPANTS BEFORE WE PUT ON THE ROBE THING? 😧+i never been into a surgery.
All those machines look so scary😭
There we see INDIANS, always helping for the betterment of this race
I hope Marcus can get back on the pitch one day and go back to his normal self!
I C U stands for Intensive Care Unit for those of ya’ll who doesn’t know what that meant.
I wanna know what happens to the ten yr old girl!
Heads off to them. If you did an excel wrong you could just redo, for them there is no redo as is life and death.
I was taking to icu because I stopped breathing with the birth control and pressure on me because I’m a person who gets injured easily and after I was born I diagnosed with a breathing disorder so I can’t eat a hole plate with a lots of stuff or I’ll have a sezuire or I could run out of time in life

Don’t understand is this real cause I read that this is an simulation?
franzi juli in all Hospitals and nursing/medical schools, we have simulations. It is a must for each and everyone to be involved in simulations. In this video, the first part shows the simulation training and thereafter are real patients. Hope it this clarified.
Ps : I’m a nurse ☺️
아이샤 thänk you for explaining it for me♥️! Have a good day✨🌻♥️
