AKA, why child safety caps should be on all cleaning products.
I was always able to open those..... I mean it has the instructions on the cap
Icey fall yeah but she was 3
They might have had the safety caps, the mother was using the stuff to clean the tiles at the time. Maybe it was open. It would only take a second or 2 distraction and the kid ran in and grabbed it.

I feel so bad for the parents... I would be blaming myself the entire time and probably for the rest of my life
To be honest they should've kept it out of the reach of children. Chemicals usually state that on the bottle. And even if they don't say it on the bottle, it's just common sense.
I don't think the parent's should take all of the blame, but there's no denying their lack of common sense in keeping lethal chemicals out of the reach of a child, definitely contributed to this.
@@KissMyFatAxe but if you're cleaning and you child comes up behind you while you're cleaning and drinks the liquid you're cleaning with there is only so much you can do. Although I do think they should've taken more precaution in making sure their child didn't touch it.

Mom SHOULD feel guilty! Who leaves caustic chemicals in children's reach? Stupid people.
She is so strong. She has gone through so much, and yet she is still all smiles.
During a First aid class I attended, the instructor warned about small kids mistaking cleaning products for juice. It's the packaging and the colorful containers! For instance: there is a regular dishwashing soap, but you buy one that is a little bit extra cause it supposedly smells like apples and is a more interesting color (green). This probably means there are apples drawn on the front. Little child that can't read sees it and where are they used to seeing apples? On apple juice. So the hardcore chemical is packaged similarly to apple juice, it smells like apples, even the cap is sort of bib shaped. There really is no mystery here.
That's why you keep those products AWAY from the kids
They could solve this by having standard packaging for all cleaning products and non see through. Same way they've done to cigarettes in the uk
Yes, you are so right!
Hari Gopal Adamus the packaging is the root of the problem
I just don’t get why it was lying around in tho open for her to drink

it's because, in order to dilate her, they need to take off quite a bit of scar tissue, which causes bleeding. In that instance, she was only trying to get rid of it. As the doctor said it's for stripping grease of chip shop tiles it should not of even entered a family home it's a dangerous I have no clue why she left it in a child's sight and reach plus there was clearly no child cap as it's only ment for high cleaning purposes

Wait. Did I hear the mother right? Around 2:54..
The girl swallows acid...then has to wait for *3 hours* at one place to be transferred elsewhere where they didn't even look in her mouth until the *NEXT MORNING?*
Maybe the severity of the situation would have been less if she had been treated immediately?
Also the mother is calling it acid and it is actually a very strong base. Nowhere close to an acid.
No you didn't hear right. Go back and listen again
Emmy F They repeatedly stated that the little girl was just completely refusing to open her mouth until the next day.
She drank lye
I had the same thought. I would have sued for malpractice.
I feel like if you go to the emergency room, take the bottle of what your child drank and showed the on/floor doctor, the child would immediately be treated.
Maybe the parents weren’t super concerned, and just thought she would just be mildly inconvenienced. Maybe they didn’t communicate their problem correctly to the doctors. Maybe that’s the problem with free healthcare?
I feel like a proper neutralizer could have been applied or coated in the throat to minimize the effects almost immediately, instead of letting the base fester and continue to damage for hours and all night.
And if the little girl wouldn’t open her mouth, then she needed to be put under.
This is why people shouldn't joke about drinking bleach.

Haileyヅ what? It wasn’t supposed to be funny?
This is amazing
Such a brave little girl! Her and her family deserve the best. Im not religious but I send prayers for them
She didn’t drink bleach. They said sodium hydroxide which is lye. Much more dangerous than bleach. What a sad accident
The parent's reactions to everything really got me. how hugely they love for that girl
Kayla’s Journey after drinking LYE. Change the title.
What's that?
I think more people are familiar with bleach. So they used this word to get more views
Where does it say bleach??
PotatoAlpacas I wrote that a month ago. They changed the title.
@@mechellesutton7520 tru I remember when it say bleach
I can't imagine what this family is going through.... the guilt as a mother! :(
When I was about 2 I swallowed turpentine but luckily I threw it up straight away and was fine
Idk why I'm putting this here since I can't relate to her one bit
ARMY 💜
It rhymed
Aquablue 125 They must be a poet and not know it (I’m so sorry)
My family has used turpentine to prevent intestinal worms. 😖 1 or 2 drops in a spoonful of sugar. It tasted awful but I never got sick of had any problems. Never had worms either.. 🤣😅
Isn't turpentine tree resin?
She is such a brave girl to be going through this at such a young age. I’m sure her parents feel terribly guilty for what happened but young children do silly things that can have awful consequences. If anything I hope other parents take note of this and never leave any harmful substances where little ones can get hold of them.
I really hope the next stent gives her some relief and makes a big difference for her.

Parents should automatically no better then to leave that shyt laying around. They say to child proof your house before u have kids for a reason and after u have had them if u didn't do it before hand. Its extremely important they put all kinds of shyt in there mouths doesn't take but literaly a second for harm to be done to anybody for that matter. People and kids get taken straight from there homes shyt happens. U just have to prepare yourself for the worst always and be ready for it
My Life first of all don’t be telling people to shut up and secondly if you read my message I was empathising with the parents and saying that all children do silly things but hoping others learn from this.
You really need to read and understand before you start telling others to shut up.
@@mylife1059 wow what does he/shee need to shut up for she/he wasn't attacking any body in this comment. You need to shut up and take your self off this comment
Heather Leigh because you are perfect. You and many others are so damn hypocritical.
Such brave child and parents... stay blessed dear ❤
This poor baby!! I can’t imagine what the parents are going through and it’s scary how an innocent mistake can almost kill you! I hope this baby girl is well today!!🙏🏻
I was so glad to hear Kayla’s Mom explain why they are comfortable with the doctor explaining everything in front of Kayla. Too many people want to sugar coat procedures which can freak the kids out more! In my medical experience, the kids always handle things better than the adults. 💗💗💗

People going nuts at the length of film that they blurred her face, it says in the caption its in respect of Italian law, presumably they do not permit any filming of a child's full appearance in their hospitals. Get over it!
How does italian law come into this? The hospital is located in Dublin, Ireland.
prettilicious Did you even watch the video??
She traveled to Rome for the new procedure, she is not in Dublin.
Michelle Quaid but they’re playing it outside of Italy, world wide. And she’s already been shown (and they also blurred her outside of the hospital). Why couldn’t Italian TV broadcasters blur her face? Very odd.
@@julianafarabelli6148 haha I'm gonna guess no.
I once "burned" my fingers with caustic soda (drain cleaner) it was very mild tho, can't imagine this getting to my esophagus
Her dad made me cry, he loves his daughter so much ...
*I know this is totally irrelevant but...* when I was young, about 3, it was my birthday party and my mum gave me my cake and turned around and didn't notice that I'd gone outside, they almost called the police because they were looking around for almost 30 minuets. My point is that parents turn around an you never know what can happen *I know this is totally different to a girl drinking acid bit what I'm trying to say is that you never know what can happen if you turn around, even if it is for a split second* so can everyone stop saying that social services need to go round or they're bad parents. Is my mum a bad person for turning around to serve CAKE?! *NO SO STOP.*
Well said.
Ummm leaving open unattended bleach in a house with small children doesn’t compare to your situation. The mother coulda had it closed and stored away safely and this wouldn’t have happened even if she “turned around” for more than a second. She’s still responsible for her child’s condition 🤷🏾♀️
@@siabia I totally agree with what your saying BUT *always a but* 😂 it is not completely her fault. The acid should of been out of reach and if the child was in the room, even if she was only going to turn around for a split second, she should of put the cap back on
bleach is a base not an acid
@@jessdesilva9678 I only did that in chemistry last week I'm not that clever and I still don't remember anything 😂😂
