Steve Cummins, age 50, was the much-loved boys soccer coach and physical education teacher at Lakota West. He died a month before this concert from a reaction to back pain medicine. We will always miss this amazing man -- and we can never hear "October" without sharing smiles and tears at his memory...
Love this song. Can't wait till this Friday to play at YSU with you guys.
Fitch High School, 1st Bassoon 08-09.
Very nice job! Well done!
this is really nice. i play timpani for this
our wind ens. played this at a memorial service
Wow, you guys sound very nice. I enjoyed listening to this very much.. Our band at my school is doing this tomorrow for our concert.
@hansloas The solo is written for euphonium but was played in this performance by the first chair french horn. That young lady is now in the Montreal Symphony Orchestra.
I played this in 9th grade! I had the suspended cymbal part
aw sha
The quality of this recording is miserable, but I can tell that the performance was impeccable. Wish I could've seen it live. =0
Awesome!!! My band recently played it this year. At 2:33, was a Euphonium used for the solo? (Reason is that I, being a Euphonium player and all, had to play this solo lol)
yeah the solo is for euphonium.. but it sounds like a french horn played this one.
@isudude0913
Trust me on this...I really really know it's a French Horn playing the solo part in this performance ;)
The long note (c?) is one clarinet but the background chords are more than one.
Hmmm, there's only ONE clarinet playing at the beginning of the piece. Not sure how she couldn't agree! ;)
Not an easy solo! In this band it was played by French Horn.
@bpottsy56 Are you kidding? That's the same tempo that UNT takes....
always something negative to say. pick the peice apart rather than enjoy it.
